| | DISCRIMINATION AGAINST FELINES/FELINE OWNERSPage 2 of 3 (1, 2, 3) | I applaud what you're doing, TNR woman. Trap-Neuter-Return. Can we do this with humans? KIDDDDDDING.
What I seriously want to know is who can tell me which of my cats is smarter? One ignores a laser pointer, ignores TV. The other will chase the laser bead; watch movements on TV, and purr when it hears its name said on TV.

. . . I shall not participate in any discussion here that does not deal with being over 45.
I'm 48 and . . . well . . . what change....
One minute your desperately seeking work once school is finished.... next your on a full fledged merry-go-round of life.... climbing, fighting for a goal.... working hard.... then..... an anticlimax?
Seems we ...didn't have a back up plan for when the goal was sort of reached? Made the destination.... but wondering now what? Suddenly realizing that 28, 38.... damn... 48 You're over 40 and finally got a better idea of what a mid-life crisis can be. Didn't figure you were maybe in one because what you've heard and read about them didn't fit your situation. But then dig a little further and realize that they come in many different styles. So... now you're realizing that you have to put away those old shoes... ... buy a different pair of shoes ... and walk like someone else.
oh.... don't forget to petition to have this thread deleted.... haha..... cats?

Nor does it have anything to do with discrimination.

| DISCRIMINATION AGAINST FELINES/FELINE OWNERS Posted: 6/19/2012 10:37:27 PM | | If people allow their cats (or other animals) to eat from the same spoon or dish, would that not be an issue with the PERSON?????? How does that make the animal a problem? | |

| DISCRIMINATION AGAINST FELINES/FELINE OWNERS Posted: 6/20/2012 4:29:45 AM | Sorry. I was just yackin bout my cats, didn't take the thread seriously, thought it was meant humorously.
I think you're looking in the wrong direction for the source of the discrimination. It's based on physics.
Cats are smaller. Quieter. Their needs are simpler. They can feed themselves, clean up after themselves, exercise themselves. They will not suffer from lack of constant attention.
This makes them easier to hoard and get away with it for much longer. Since they're easier to hoard, more people choose them to hoard. Naturally more hoarding stories would be about cats then.
vvv yes, I think so. | |

They don't make any noise in the house, don't eat anything, don't shiat or piss anywhere, yet give me great satisfaction when required. And yeah,I'm nuttier than a three dollar bill. Now, imagine collecting and saving live animals for a "hobby".

| DISCRIMINATION AGAINST FELINES/FELINE OWNERS Posted: 6/20/2012 8:31:48 PM | I find it interesting that in these forums, men have hatefully resorted to telling women, "You'll grow old alone with your cats and die."
Well, its better than growing old with an idiot human for a partner.
I have three cats and no man has ever refused to date me because of them, not even the guy who was allergic to cats, but I broke that off before it could get started--for reasons other than the allergies.
My present boyfriend loves my cats, and my neutered male (the cat, not the boyfriend) who is scared of EVERYONE loved him on sight. To me, it said something about the boyfriend's character.
IF I could find a good home for one of my cats, she would move out, but I won't take her to a shelter. I never wanted three cats, but two are rescued kitties.
However, cat hoarding is another matter: people who have a multitude of cats, or dogs, or horse, or rats, have an emotional problem. My mother had 30 or 40 cats at one time, and she never had them spayed or castrated. She couldn't understand why they "choose" her to come to. My sister and I explained that it was because she left food on the porch, but she thought she was special.

I recently posted pix of all 6 of my cats in my home, which is clean (most of the time) & neat (most of the time)...someone can have one pet & be a slob, someone can have more pets & be neat & clean...I had a friend tell me in the past she was afraid I was gonna be a hoarder, then told me about her dog peeing all over her furniture...
Yep, Gwen is right: "Well, its better than growing old with an idiot human for a partner."

| DISCRIMINATION AGAINST FELINES/FELINE OWNERS Posted: 6/21/2012 9:51:40 PM | Just wondering....what all the "cat hating" and name calling ("crazy cat lady") is all about? No one calls dog lovers "crazy dog men or women".....or says that dog owners have mental health problems. Is it because cats (and generally their owners), can't be "controlled" , and basically, most folks are "control freaks?"
Just sayin...... It's a stereotype. I never deal with people who think in stereotypes. If someone comes across like that, realize they are someone who doesn't know how to think and ignore them.
People who hate cats are never, ever, ever worth knowing. I pretty much agree with this, and the same applies to people who hate dogs. I owned 3 cats over the past 40 years. For a while, I had two at the same time, but for most of the time, I had one at a time. Because of my lifestyle now, I don't have any pets, but I do miss having one. Someday, when I settle down a bit more, I'll have them again.

| DISCRIMINATION AGAINST FELINES/FELINE OWNERS Posted: 6/22/2012 7:34:20 PM | Msg. 20 and 21............thanks for THAT laugh!!! Ha!
When I was about 8 or 9, I had a guinea pig, Goober! I'd let him out of his cage to run around a little bit every day. In order to get him back, I'd open the fridge door. He knew that's where the lettuce was kept.....something he LOVED!
He'd come running out from wherever he'd been hiding, squeeking his guinea pig squeek, hit the tiled floor in the kitchen and skid..............shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh DINK! Right in to the kitchen cabinet. He'd shake it off and stand there screaming at me to get his lettuce treat.
Ahhhh...........childhood.
(Glad it's over actually but that was a fun thing to remember)
OT: Cats are great. Dogs are great. People that don't like animals aren't.

| DISCRIMINATION AGAINST FELINES/FELINE OWNERS Posted: 6/22/2012 11:08:50 PM | Yep....I'd rather grow old with an animal companion than a human, male jackass! It's too bad women feel they have to make that choice, that a nice man in your life is not a likely option or not as likely as a pet. I'd rather grow old with animals and a nice man in my life, and I intend to. : )

It has everything to do with dating over 45.
It 's an attempt to explain why people prefer to live with cats , than other people.........
And it has some good points......makes one reconsider his options...lol
Somehow , the thought of sleeping with a cat just doesn't cut it ......lol

Hmm never thought of myself as a human , male jackass......perhaps that's why I thought sailing was a better option to a relationship...... But then again , I've never seen a jackass sail.....perhaps i'm looking from the wrong perspective!!!!!!!

The number of cats a single woman has will determine the amount of a time in which she will remain single. Don't believe me? Give it time. You'll see I have 6 cats. Yesterday, my beau picked me up @4 PM & took me out to a lovely early dinner at a really nice restaurant in Tarrytown, NY. Then we got coffee @ a coffee shop & went to see Three Dog Night @ Tarrytown Music Hall. I HAVE 6 CATS. I could list all the concerts & venues we've been to, diners & gifts, but that would be bragging (if I am not doing it already) I HAVE 6 CATS When i had surgery, he took a week off to help... I HAVE 6 CATS

| DISCRIMINATION AGAINST FELINES/FELINE OWNERS Posted: 6/25/2012 8:02:55 AM | I prefer dogs over cats but I see nothing wrong with people who have cats. Many of my friends do because they are easier to care for.
I work from home and my dog goes everywhere with me, sleeps at the foot of my bed and requires me to exercise him on a regular basis. (which is a benefit to me). Since therapy dogs are prescribed to depressed patients, having one hardly seems crazy.
I'd assume the same rational applies to cat owners and I've never met a pet lover I didn't like. Actually they seem more tolerant and loving in general than those that don't have/don't like animals.
