Posted: 4/13/2013 11:13:57 PM | I'm pretty sure most everyone here has experienced the same thing. I have gotten more PMs here from women initiating contact with me than I've ever received when I make the first move.
The internet makes people rather anonymous, even with all the info we put on this site. That means people can behave like jerks and there is less reason to act civil with anyone. This also means people are setting their standards rather high.
Girls want guys with "security" (financial/ material goods) as a primary factor. Many women will overlook a college student or a man who has a job but no car (which is fairly common in the city). It just gets worse with age. Men want a woman with a smoking hot body and preferably no kids.
I'm not saying anything groundbreaking here but I've seen enough of this mentality play out. People come to POF believing internet dating is "easier." It is only easier in the sense that we don't have to put forth a lot of effort to make a profile. But the 'net is breeding our inner selfishness. When we meet someone in person, do we immediately ask them intrusive stuff? No but we can see a lot of info here without asking. Online dating allows us to judge a person without meeting that person.
Quite frankly, I think most people are on here to BS. | |

Posted: 5/1/2013 8:57:48 PM | IMHO I think that 90% of the guys here have the same problem, and it's due to the fact that POF is 90% guys. The 10% women here are just here for the attention. Am I bitter? Duh. Same problem.
I am labeled a nice guy and I hate it, but it's not like there's a school that can teach you how to be normal. It's called having a father, and most of us were probably lacking in that department, which is why we are here in the first place. | |

Posted: 5/3/2013 2:23:50 AM | Well, when I signed up to PoF I had loads of people wanting to meet me, and loads of messages and replies. Then when I start replying and chatting to people, they are like 'Oooookkk ... Slowly back away and click ignore'.
So I realized that this isnt actually a chat room. Though one nice guy from really far away liked my replies and keeps on chatting to me, most people dont like my walls of text. | |

Just imagine millions of people sitting at their desks, bored out of their gourd, doing their level best just to stay awake.
POF ? Yeah, sure that's usually good for some entertainment. It's free, right?
So you put up a profile, add a few photos and a wish list, and away you go.
You may just meet the person of your dreams, but if not you have lots of stories to tell about all the online creeps out there, and what losers they are :) | |
