| Miracles DO Happen! Posted: 6/24/2012 12:49:29 PM | Great way to wrap it up Ms.Cindy :) Looking back over the thread, I'm thinking that myself, the OP and others don't object to discussion and debate--just honestly saw the story as a sort of "celebration" of some good news. The "debate" itself was the surprise AND, sometimes we DO get to see threads where folks just share experiences....similar, fun, good news type of posts. There have been some that are really FUN to participate in! (the lighter side to discussion) LOL-yeah, it happens! So, I'm thinking, it was the "intent" and then the result that brought the "surprise" to the OP and others. ( me too)--goes to show: well, it's the forums!!! Just never know what's going to show up. :) Happy trails, folks. OR, you know.....tear 'em up!! LOL. | |

No miracle. Just good luck that the little girl awoke from her coma just moments before doctors pulled the plug on her life support.

| Miracles DO Happen! Posted: 6/24/2012 5:53:34 PM | "...just moments before doctors pulled the plug...". You've said this a few times already, there was nothing written in the original post quote that stated this. So are assuming, making shyt up. Folks have been in coma's with no "plugs" in or anything more than maybe a breathing tube or feeding tube. Other's not that have all kinds of medical life saving equipment hooked up. Nowhere in this quote did it say the doctors were about to pull any plug, just that the mother should prepare to say her goodbyes. This little girl is not the first person to wake from a coma.
And there has been no one that posted on this thread that didn't agree that this was a heart warming story and ALL that posted thought it was a happy, feel good story. What they "debated" was the term "miracle".
|
| Miracles DO Happen! Posted: 6/24/2012 8:59:54 PM | I have read other articles that confirm the girl was on life support.
Here's another "miracle", courtesy of the British Nationalized Health Service
Cyclist makes miracle recovery as doctors talk about turning off life-support machine
Doctors were within hours of turning off 22-year-old Aaron Denham’s life-support machine after he suffered a broken neck, smashed pelvis and punctured lung. But suddenly his hand moved and now, after a series of operations, the young carpenter can walk unaided and could be home in three months
And another
The boy who came back from the dead: Experts said car crash teen was beyond hope. His parents disagreed His devastated parents were even asked to consider donating his organs Doctors found signs of life only after his father begged them to recheck him

| Miracles DO Happen! Posted: 6/24/2012 9:54:16 PM | | Yup! Miracles do happen. My own conception and birth was one and I've seen others in life as well. OP, that story gave me hope bc the day you posted it, my Dad was fighting for his life and we didn't know if he'd pull through. Many prayers later, he is doing much better. So, I thank you! :) | |

Definition of MIRACLE 1: an extraordinary event manifesting divine intervention in human affairs 2: an extremely outstanding or unusual event, thing, or accomplishment
Some use definition of miracle #1 and some use #2. Yup. I had looked it up and found something similar:
"any amazing or wonderful event"
and was wondering what all the fuss was about, since no divine intervention was mentioned in the OP. It seems that some will never miss an opportunity to inform others of how "wrong" they are in what might (or might not) be their own personal beliefs.
So the church is once again trying to latch itself onto something it had nothing to do with, must be a slow month in food items that look like religious icons. The church of Adele?
The church was not mentioned in the post. Why do you have to turn everything into something snarky? I've always found it curious that the ones who complain the most about God being inserted into everything find the need to insert God into everything. Seems rather counterproductive.
It's actually fun to watch some people be so negative! Must be fun living that kind of life. I've heard the term "miracle" thrown around for a lot "lesser" type incidents, such as the results of sporting events. I've never thought much of it...and still won't. But apparently anything that has a possibility of a reference to God tends to cause people to swarm on these boards.
BUT, if her recovery was a "miracle", what would it have been called if she hadn't recovered? A tragedy.

| Miracles DO Happen! Posted: 6/28/2012 10:26:35 AM | ""BUT, if her recovery was a "miracle", what would it have been called if she hadn't recovered?""
Yes, it would have been a tragedy. But the "miracle" folks would have added those wonderful lines like "she's gone to a better place" or "god wanted her in heaven". Trite responses are small consolation for the parents that have had to bury a child.

| Miracles DO Happen! Posted: 6/28/2012 1:31:39 PM | "Looking back over the thread, I'm thinking that myself, the OP and others don't object to discussion and debate--just honestly saw the story as a sort of "celebration" of some good news"
BULLSHIT! Either that or you're having difficulty with your reading comprehension, or eyesight.
If it WERE a celebration or kumbya moment to come together, over a mother and daughter getting a second chance at a life together. Then why all the references ascribing it to god? Then when someone objected to that reference, why the need for some to say "pray for them", to incite the debate further, or the OP's own insults about "piranhas" and "why people can't find someone" or words to that effect?
You and the other give kudos, to those that agree, it is a miracle from the man in the sky. You embrace those who agree, and while maybe you didn't, the rest basically spit on those of us, who see this as a happy event sans angels, god and miracles.
Point of fact, your ilk, very much objects to discussion and debate...your man in the sky book proclaims "it's my way or the highway"! Then if you fall in the camp of the "highway", you will be cast down, or subjected to" he11 and brimstone". THAT is the facts of christianity. But you guys are like crack addicts, you see something good, you start jonesing for showing how god did it.
You start posting feel good stories, leave god out of it, and we will all agree, it's great to read something nice, good and uplifting of spirit.

| Miracles DO Happen! Posted: 6/28/2012 4:14:40 PM | I was your choice of words OP for the thread title, maybe choose your words a little more carefully if you aren't trying to preach or start a debate? I realise it's hard when our language is inundated with religious terms, (I find it hard not to call people names myself sometimes, hypocrite comes to mind), just try to remember that coming to a forum where everyone is equal and entitled to their opinion is a good thing under the big fishes eyes. You must learn to be more accepting and tolerant, and I swear to the devil himself, it will help you sleep at night with no help from anyone or anything. | |

Yes, it would have been a tragedy. But the "miracle" folks would have added those wonderful lines like "she's gone to a better place" or "god wanted her in heaven". Trite responses are small consolation for the parents that have had to bury a child. I would say some of the "miracle" folks would have added that. As pointed out above, the term doesn't have just strictly religious connotations. And I don't think any words are anything more than small consolation for parents that have to bury a child. But that doesn't mean that people won't try to comfort them in different ways.
Then why all the references ascribing it to god? Because the anti-God people decided to make it about God.
You start posting feel good stories, leave god out of it, and we will all agree, it's great to read something nice, good and uplifting of spirit. Reread the opening post. No mention of God. Unless Adele is God. Just a story from what appears to be People magazine, in which the author uses the term "miracle" in describing that the girl's first reaction since being in the coma occurred when one of her favorite songs came on the radio.
Then a claim by a poster that "the church is trying to latch itself onto something it had nothing to do with." Which is not anywhere in the article. But then the thread became about God.

| Miracles DO Happen! Posted: 6/28/2012 8:42:36 PM | Miracle was used as a religious term by the OP, anyone without their head in the clouds figured that one out. Did you not read the rest of the posts?
Was the family religious too? The author of the article? You? Adele? The record label? The publishers of the article?
A lot of children die, a lot of religious people question their faith at these times, but you hardly ever read threads that say... Miracles DON'T happen! by the religious folk. Just kind of proves that religious people only share one side of their "gods" story.
I won't be praying for them though.
Would they be insulted if I said... Get well soon.
