Play these game's when you are suppose to be spending quality time with me then you will get a different response.
If you are unemployed and play these games then you need to get up from the couch and go and look for a job.
These game's have a place in a person's life however MODERATION is the key word. | |

Guys, have you ever met a woman that plays video games and is actually good at it? Would you think thats hot?
I would consider it a positive quality if she could talk about games with me.. if we've played the same ones.. what we enjoyed about them.. maybe play some types of co-op or competitive games together, that would be great.
But I knew a girl back from the day that used to work at an arcade. She could whoop my butt at Capcom Vs SNK 2, and I was very good at it. It aggravated me just like if any dude was beating me, lol.. didn't really matter that she was a lady. | |

My ex was Final Fantasy Queen....? Not sure what the point is. She was good at it and did I think it hot? .....Not particularly, no. It's something she enjoyed doing and was good at, whatever.
I know some girls who are pretty good at going into bars and drinking enormous quantities of alcoholic beverages without throwing up on everyone at 3:30 am, do I think it's hot? I think it's FASCINATING and quite puzzling, but not particularly hot, no................ | |

Now, you see WoW commercials during Sportscenter. I know dudes that play WoW that look like they belong on Jersey Shore. It's not even *really* a video game.. it's more like a spreadsheet with numbers, and people just try to get the best numbers, then go kill the bosses by running pre-determined patterns. I remember my ex-roommate, who I had mentioned in a previous post, did these countless hours of raiding.. and I used to ask him what the names of the bosses were that he spent so much time killing.. and he didn't even know! It was like "Uh, the big frost giant guy." He had no idea how they fit into the lore, or even the basic lore of the game. He was only concerned with the best gem to socket into his new epic purple helm.
People like that are what ruined MMOs for me. There was a time, during Burning Crusade, where I was a pretty heavy WoW Raider.. but it didn't last long. The people acted like they were your boss, and I only have one boss - the one at work.
Oh, I got BAD with playing those games. I was the ret pally kiling illidan and clearing sunwell. I put way more time than I'd like to admit to into improving and getting better at the game. All I cared about was winning.
At the time, it was fun, and I always understood the story. The first 3 warcrafts were the entire reason I ever even played the game. But that is what they turned into... Just a huge number game, and seeing who is better than everyone else. But raiding is actually what ended up turning me off to playing those games ever again. I just don't feel like playing to someone else's schedule anymore.
But things like that are also probably a huge part of why so many people are turned off to dating a gamer. I've even watched my friends pass up on awesome nights, guarantees of ending up with a girl that night, because his guild raided that night, and he couldn't not go, he was their main tank... His guild was always getting server firsts, and demanded that you're there every night...
I'm not gonna lie, there were fun moments in raiding. But after seeing my friend not go out because it was a raid night, that really made me start thinking about how much I've passed up in my life because staying as one of the only ret pallies in the game in sunwell mattered too much to me. | |

Hell no. I just play my Xbox until it becomes a smoky ruin after a year, then send a complaint letter to Microsoft, sue them in court, settle, and make THOUSANDS of dollars off of it. That's how I win my life actually......

I think it works for both, and goes a lot farther than just video games.
Now, I've known a lot of guy gamers... If you put a game controller in any girls hand, a lot of these guys suddenly think she's the greatest thing in the world.
But I think it's just the internet in general. There's lots of guys who's virginity is protected because of a lot more than a video game. The more time you spend not actually interacting with other people, the less capable you are of actually doing it.
It's the only thing I can think of. There has to be some reason that so many people just have no comprehension of how to have friends and how you should talk to people, and stuff like that. | |

I'm 54, and enjoy video games though they certainly aren't a huge part of my recreational time. They'd probably take up more time, if I didn't have a full time job and a dog to take care of. Video games can be quite addictive, so I'd guess the problem isn't so much the video games, but the addictive behavior that so often goes along with it. Dedicated video gamers often seem a bit immature, at least to me, even accounting for the fact that most of them are 20+ years younger than I am. | |

The issue of age has already been addressed several times in the last 6 pages. This is why you need to read more than the first 5 sentences of the first post in a thread going on 150 replies.
Going back, if I typed the original post again, Yes, I probably would like to omit that part since it may come off as inflammatory.
With that being said, it still says "most" not "all." It's not a blanket statement. And you are one of the exceptions, and not part of the "most." So how can you feel like it's a shot at you when it doesn't even apply to you?
I included "most" because I knew there would be people like you that are older, but still enjoy gaming. Props to you for pursuing your hobby into your middle years, I only hope I still retain my love for video games 23 years from now. | |

Hey hey whatchu talkin' 'bout, Willis? Trying to say we can't play, or something? :P
I've seen minor things like this even when I've created a female character in an MMO. Dudes will run up and help you fight something, even if you're doing fine, then just stand there and be like "Hey, what's up." To which I respond "I'm a dude." Then they just run away without saying anything else.. lol.
Oh man, you scared them away before they started emptying out their banks into your pockets. That's the best part! Should've at least waited until you got a few giant bags.
I think the vast majority of those who become addicted, or play too much, are folks that don't have a plan.. they just sit down and start playing, but the increments of hours mean nothing to them, they just pass by like minutes.
Naaaaaaah you don't need a plan. Then it starts feeling like a job and whatnot when you throw a schedule on there. I don't pay attention to all that. I just play until I don't feel like playing it anymore and naturally move onto something else. It varies how long that takes depending on the game. | |

If I played until I didn't *feel* like playing anymore, than I would probably play Diablo III for 12 hours a day.
But there has to be a plan for the rest of the day, where I note that the video gaming should stop, and another priority should take over.
Ironically, it was when I used to raid in WoW, that a video game, for the first time ever, started feeling like I was going to work, instead of trying to relax and have fun. | |

Do I lose "cool points" if I admit that my Diablo 3 trial play session lasted less than a half hour? Logged out, never logged back in and didn't bother buying it.

Oh you missing out, they have that game selling for like $10 these days now, grab up a copy and kick some ass.
I would not sit on my ass a straight day playing video games. I think that playing that long would be a waste of productivity. I'd feel lazy, I would like to date on lady that's on the same page with liking video games tho, haven't found one yet. | |
