Only one woman I met did not know what a 911 was but she did like the colour. I finally went totally practice and brought a small Honda, I was amazed how different woman acted .

I have my late wife's Mustang Convertible in the garage and I'm very picky about where I'll take it. To many crappy drivers don't care about their or others cars. I don't take it if I may have to park in a crowded parking lot and I wouldn't want a date to have to walk a long distance so I can park it where it won't get hit. Heck the car has never even been driven in the rain.

| Middle aged man, new Camaro Posted: 6/30/2012 10:09:05 PM | | I just bought a new Camaro and to top it off it is red. I did not intend to but once I drove it I felt good in it . Sometimes you think it is because you are going through a mid life crisis but really for me I did not have to be practical any more. Kids are all grown don't need an SUV anymore . It is just fun to drive . I love it and my grandkids think I look like a cool grandma. Have fun with it for as long as it is comfortable for you. | |

| Middle aged man, new Camaro Posted: 7/1/2012 4:45:53 AM | | So many things scream midlife crisis: flashy sports car, dating young women, starting yoga classes, going out to a disco, wearing "Members Only" jackets, lol. Why care what anyone thinks? Do whatever makes you happy, as long as you are not hurting anyone. | |

And Stargazin...I have seen those bull balls dangling from pick-ups around here and they are GROSS. My impression is that guys who hang them from their trucks usually don't have any of their own.
My daughter put a smaller version on her truck.
well, after the embarrassment(for EVERYone) they COULD be rather mesmerizing when following, if they swing and/or show a little personality. ;)

| Middle aged man, new Camaro Posted: 7/1/2012 11:25:04 AM | | I still don't know why it matters what a guy drives. What does matter is the car she drives. That's the one she's going to be spending the most time in. The only exception is if you're living in your car, or using it as a trash can - that might be something to think twice about in the big picture. | |

I finally went totally practice and brought a small Honda, I was amazed how different woman acted . I must admit, have NO idea what a 911 is or a M3. Never really paid all that much attention to vehicles to be honest. With the exception of one car, the Mustang. I've had a long time love affair with the Mustang that goes waay back.
And OP, I have yet to date a guy with a car or truck as cool (or clean) as my Spyder...closest I came was a guy with a Mustang (but it was not a convertible...what a waste...and he used it as a trashcan
Clean vehicle is always good :)
My neighbour had a Spyder...had to keep repeating, "Thy shall not covet thy neighbour's car"

| Middle aged man, new Camaro Posted: 7/1/2012 1:50:16 PM | | Is it a Hollywood stereotypical thing? Are 50 men not aloud to own sports cars without fearing they will be labeled "Midlife Crisis Man"? I've owned muscle/sporty cars for the last 20 years. My current one, a red convertible with a hopped up V8 in it, screams MLCM. It almost pi$$es me of I have to consider the message that some people will read into it. But f@%k um, it's who I am, it's something I've worked for for years. One girl I know thinks it's the coolest thing and loves it when I let her drive it. So poo poo the nay sayers and do what you want, if the Hollywood myth is true you should have lots of hot women in the seat beside you. | |

Balls on truck bumpers????? What the...? I live and have lived in "serious" truck country but have NO idea what that even is--?? picture link please. :)
Yes! They are called "Truck NutZ". My nephew had a pair dangling from his trailer hitch. I laughed so hard, I nearly bust a gut! He only had them on his truck for about two weeks. He figures that another jealous guy snatched them away in a fit of jealousy. They sell these amusing accessories for motorcycles also... for bikes they are called: "Bike NutZ". As I personally do not have a set of these things, I cannot attest to the effectiveness of their lure.
See some google pictures by searching for "Truck Nutz".

| Middle aged man, new Camaro Posted: 7/1/2012 8:34:59 PM | A Camaro is on my want list too.
My friends chuckle about "mid-life crisis"
I chuckle back and point out
-no kids = no need for 4 doors
-no kids = disposable income
So, who exactly is having the crisis? Not me...

| Middle aged man, new Camaro Posted: 7/1/2012 10:50:02 PM | judyjc5, I was just giving an example why I might not show up in my nicest car. That Mustang 'vert was my late wife's dream car and she waited 30 years to get it cause life got in the way. I finally insisted we get it when it looked like it would be her last car. I'll use it but want to keep it nice and pass it down to our daughter at some point. I have my 4x4 pickup and a high mileage SUV. I keep the SUV for shopping and short trips plus my son uses it on his frequent trips home, when fly's instead of driving. The SUV isn't worth much in the current market but doesn't cost much to keep around either.
ETA: I can already hear some thinking shrine and such, well we each have our own quirks, it would be pretty boring if we were all the same.

womaninprogress, i agree with you, i can care less if a woman drives a jalopy, same should go for women but thats not the case, with me its the car hobby, i have 2 classic muscle cars and women think its childish and stupid but then again it doesnt suprise me, im sure if a chipendale with cash pulled up on a bicycle any woman on here would hop on the back, god forbid they give a normal nice guy with a pick up truck like me a try. I never care what someone's house or car look like (within reason - if "Hoarders" can use you for filming, that's unreasonable) as they aren't places I have to be. If I want what I want, I'll stay in my house or get in my car. When it comes time to stay over and get picked up - things may change a bit, but in the beginning - and generally neither of things involve me, really.
My guy is a car guy as well - does it for a living and as a hobby. I'd rather a guy have a hobby like this than follow me around all day...I have hobbies I'd like to pursue without someone feeling slighted. This way everyone's happy.

| Middle aged man, new Camaro Posted: 7/2/2012 2:48:58 PM | I would drive the pick-up truck. Even though you may just want to drive the Camaro, she may perceive your intentions differently. The Camaro will have more pop after the first date when she realizes you were being humble and not trying to impress with a car, but with yourself. Also, the older pick-up truck screams fiscal responsibility.
My truck is 14 years old and in great shape because I maintain it well. I have a newer Lexus but drive the truck more. Also, my truck is paid off, which I think is more of an impression than driving something new, even if the new is paid off it can be perceived that you are making a big payment and it is can be perceive that you are trying really hard to impress. A lot of p[eople see the new car thing as a penis extension of sorts. Show her that you don't need a penis extension. Also, I'd prefer to catch a girl that isn't impressed with my money or what I drive but more impressed with me and the way I carry myself and treat her.

| Middle aged man, new Camaro Posted: 7/2/2012 10:50:09 PM | | I drive a 2012 Mustang GT. Some people give me the same BS. I just smile and say I drive what I drive because I'm impressed with he car. Not because I'm trying to impress them with the car. I don't tell them this is the fourth Mustang GT I've owned over the last 20+ yrs. Drive your Camero because you like it, by the way. You want to race? | |

| Middle aged man, new Camaro Posted: 7/3/2012 8:30:51 PM | | I dont mind a man with a sports car as his midlife crisis toy, it sure beats the guys who go out and buy a harley and try to be "bikers" ewww... | |
|
| Middle aged man, new Camaro Posted: 7/4/2012 8:07:17 AM | I picked up an older Camaro Convertible a few months ago and yes it's my daily driver. It was one of those "too good to pass up" deals and I really like it. I heard the "mid life crisis" comments as well. I could care less. I like the car and don't care what anyone else thinks. It is odd the way some women react to it though. There was a lady I had talked on the phone to a few times and when we met for the first time she told me she couldn't date someone who drove one of "those" because her nephew was killed in one. Oh well, scratch that one off the list.
Oh btw LG, not all men who own a Harley want to be a "biker". I have a Harley as well, an old one that I've had for many, many years and I doubt most men could even start it. LOL I'm no "biker" and have no desire to be one. I just like to ride and I like my ladies classy.
