Some things you can ask, some you can observe, but some of the latter may take a lot of time to find out. That caveat stated, deal breakers for me include:

smoking
heavy drinking
fundamentalist anything
lack of compassion or kindness
rudeness
inconsiderate
entitlement
unresolved issues
unhealthy attachments
lying, cheating, stealing
uninformed or lack of curiosity
lack of spontaneity

I could go on! LOL

Can we just simplify things, and they can email me the list of questions beforehand so I can fill it out... I sooo hate taking tests while someone is staring at me timing me.

Besides, it'd give me a chance to 'throw it out' and say next without having to go meet them and go through a torturous '20 questions' interview process, especially if they want to bring out the bright light, and start demanding answers to their questions.

Seriously, I just go with the flow of the conversation, and see how they react and the impression I get as the conversation flows. You'll get a lot more 'honest' idea of someone from comfortable/open/relaxed conversation than you will by firing off a list of questions at them making them feel like they're being interrogated by an SS officer.
