I sure am glad I didn't recieve any of that when I got home from Iraq. I don't know what I would've done.

| Fighting for our freedom Posted: 7/21/2012 1:51:10 AM | The "spitting" meme is popular revisionist history. Perhaps if he was spat upon, it was because he was an azzhole, not because he was a veteran. The author of "Spitting Image" did extensive research to try to document all those alleged instances and came up with none. Do you honestly believe that someone would be dumb enough to spit upon a combat veteran with PTSD and a FTA attitude?
Of all the fellow vets I know, upon return, the common reactions were mere discomfort, awkwardness in how to talk to us about it, and a desire to pretend it was all a bad dream. The Iraqi and Afghan Vets benefit from the Vietnam era, in being celebrated in a sort of compensatory way by comparisson, despite the fact that these wars were every bit as dishonerable and deceptive as Vietnam was.

Are you one of those people that assume all returning vets are ****ed up in the head? Yes, I do believe someone would spit on returning vets. I've been called a few choice names by random strangers. Much like the rest of the world, the people here either love us, or hate us, there is no inbetween.
Just so you know, not everyone is a combat veteran. Of the 7%-8% of the American population that has EVER joined a military branch of ANY kind, approximately 1% of those actually fire their weapon in combat, even less for a hit.
I've heard stories from several vietnam vets, only two tell me they were spit on when they returned, one is a family friend and served with my father in Vietnam and as an Army veteran myself, I'd take his word over a strangers' any day of the week.

Part of being a leftist is being dishonest--for them, "the end justifies the means." I expect them to lie as a matter of course. Very few of them will admit that they admire communist thugs.
Crap. It's part of being an unprincipled hypocrite, and can be found among all manner of political alignments. It is NOT part of being a leftist any more than it is part of being a Conservative.
You don't get to define people. Language is popular usage, and we all get a say. *>Phffffpppt!<*
