| Anyone Recently Lost A Significant Amount of Weight? Posted: 7/21/2012 6:19:27 PM | I lost about 30 lbs in 2010. After being thin and eating whatever I wanted all my life, I packed on 30 lbs in 2009 for no reason. Medical tests all came back normal, and was told that my metabolism was slowing down ..blah blah.
In January 2010 I went on the first diet in my life. By that May I had lost all of the weight. All I did was count calories, and didn't workout at all The Loseit app on my iphone was a very useful tool.
Now I workout regularly and I am in the best shape of my life. I still use the same app daily, but not to track calories anymore. I use it to track my workout :) I highly recommend it to anyone with a smartphone.

| Anyone Recently Lost A Significant Amount of Weight? Posted: 7/22/2012 8:47:08 AM | Wow! You are all really inspiring me!
I have lost 25lbs since April, but haven't lost any for the past month. This is due to the fact that summer session started in school, and I have not been exercising since then.
You guys are really giving me the inspiration to get back on track and finish what I started. I would like to lose about 80-100 more pounds and need to get on the ball! lol
Could someone explain what this crossfit workout is?
Domo, I tried to send you an email, too, but since I am female and old, lol, your settings won't let you accept it. I just wanted to say that I have seen your posts in the forums, and knew that you had lost a significant amount of weight bc you mentioned it a few times. But 200lbs?!! That is fantastic! I am sure you already know this, but you should be very happy with yourself for taking charge of your weight and your health in your 30s instead of being fat for another 10 years and doing it in your 40s, like me! :( And I like your newer profile pic...it is much more flattering than the Freddy Kruger, or whatever it used to be, lol.
OP~You too should be very happy with yourself, you are a very pretty girl--those beautiful eyes remind me of my daughter's:)--and taking care of this now when you are so young, you are laying a strong foundation for your health and happiness for the rest of your life! You Rock! :)
So does everyone else! :) Now, I am going to make sure my greens are fresh and grill up some chicken breasts so that I can have some nice healthy lunches this week. :)

| Anyone Recently Lost A Significant Amount of Weight? Posted: 7/22/2012 9:15:14 AM | | OMG! I just googled Crossfit, and watched a video called Nasty Girls. Three women tearing it up...doing a circuit of (My own names) power squats over medicine balls, crazy azz pull-ups on rings and lifting these huge weights. They did this over and over....amazing! I sooo want to be fit like that! | |

| Anyone Recently Lost A Significant Amount of Weight? Posted: 7/23/2012 9:12:11 PM | i've lost 50 lbs over the last 2 and a half years or so. part of it was switching to a more active job, another part of it was about 6-8 weeks of P90X and a major improvement in diet. i cut sodas 70-85% during that time and 100% since jan 1 2012. i love being able to say i haven't had a soda since last year. i don't miss it at all. would like to lose some more weight as i've been plateauing for a while now. my body has gotten used to the strenuous lifting at work and i haven't had any time to fit P90X back in although i'd love to restart that. i need to make time for it.
i'm healthier than i was in high school, i have more confidence than i think i ever did. but i still have an obese mentality. i still lack the confidence to message some of the guys i find attractive on here because i don't think i'll measure up and still feel like a D.U.F.F.

| Anyone Recently Lost A Significant Amount of Weight? Posted: 7/28/2012 5:31:09 AM | | I lost 80lbs last year, but I have been stuck for a year. I have a hard time sticking to anything so I have fluctuated between the same 10lbs for the past year. It's hard being single and trying to have a social life. Weight watchers has seemed to be the best or counting calories, but I get tired and bored of that. My job demands and I've started back to school hasn't helped either. However, these are all excuses and I should be at the gym or doing something right now. Sounds like you may need to switch up your workout to boost yourself back into losing. I wish you luck! I still have around 80 more I want to lose. | |

| Anyone Recently Lost A Significant Amount of Weight? Posted: 8/2/2012 9:08:25 PM | I have lost 100 lbs even in the past 18 months. Unfortunately I hit a plateau several months ago, and have remained the same weight since. I'm halfway to my goal, and I won't give up now.
I am not the gym-going type. It was little things that made the world of difference to me. I walked instead of taxi, wherever possible. Stairs instead of elevator. I took up hiking. Physically though, that was about the extent of it. The real weight loss came from dietary changes. I switched to a Paleo diet, and replaced all soda/coffee with tea/water. Not only did I notice weight loss with the diet, but increased energy levels, and a better mood.
Before doing all this, I (like the above poster) kept a log. It REALLY drove home the need for change. Weight loss is just as much a change of mentality as it is physical/nutritional reform. The log really helped me to see the problem in undeniable terms and feel empowered to make the changes necessary.
Now if only I could surpass this plateau and lose the next 100.

| Anyone Recently Lost A Significant Amount of Weight? Posted: 8/5/2012 9:40:24 AM | I've lost with the Insanity workout program and a diet of protein shakes, egg whites, turkey bacon, chicken, veggies and a starch. I get bored with the food sometimes, but it's working and I don't have to think about what's for breakfast or lunch each day. | |

| Anyone Recently Lost A Significant Amount of Weight? Posted: 8/6/2012 12:14:37 PM | | I changed my eating habits in January 2011 and lost a total of 40 lbs up to today. I didn't go on a diet, I cut my portions in half, cut out sodas and coffee completely and started exercising. I'm not a big alcoholic beverage drinker, but started drinking a glass of wine instead of a beer, and not more than 2 glasses a week. Actually go weeks without any alcohol. I cannot stand the taste of sodas anymore, but started drinking coffee again a couple of months ago, but only 1 cup a day and I use sugar and stay away from any artificial sweeteners. Also 1 teaspoon of sugar instead of 2. My exercise regime consists of Zumba 2 - 4 times a week (all depending if I can go at night), a bike ride of 7 miles on the days in between and tennis on Sunday mornings. I am not starving myself and not overdoing exercise either. I do take days off from exercising but have managed to keep my weight down. Even though I want to loose another 20 lbs, my BMI is in the healthy range, so it's ok if I loose it gradually. Something else that I've been doing is climbing stairs and not taking the escalator/elevator and parking away from other cars at the shopping centers so that I have to walk at least 300 yards. | |

| Anyone Recently Lost A Significant Amount of Weight? Posted: 8/10/2012 6:56:38 AM | | I lost some thru an almost vegetarian diet, then decided to go vegetarian 100% & will try to phase into vegan in the next few months. I am also VERY cognizant of calories, fat & sodium in foods. The less processed the better. I'd really look at what peppermint p says, just look at her pics...that's an endorsement enough, she has the legs of a fit 16 yr old! | |

| Anyone Recently Lost A Significant Amount of Weight? Posted: 8/10/2012 8:00:03 AM | ^^^^^^^^^ Congrats B Angel. Keep it up!! I hope you are getting some plant fats into your lifestyle change. Flax oil/ coconut oil..ect
Don't count out being "flexetarian" at some point in your life when your goals are reached..(occasional meat or dairy)..esp organic eggs for cheap complete protein.
Your body will talk to you and stabilize eventually, then you can decide if thats for you forever.
You are to kind. | |

| Anyone Recently Lost A Significant Amount of Weight? Posted: 8/10/2012 4:38:18 PM | To those who are asking about CrossFit, it is a strength and conditioning program based on the principle of developing general physical preparedness. This means it works strength, conditioning, speed, endurance, balance, agility, etc. The workouts are tough but scaleable for absolutely anyone who is willing to work hard.
I can't say enough nice things about the program and the community. It has totally transformed my life. I can do things I never dreamed I would do and have gained confidence along with a much improved look. I can't say I've lost a lot of weight, but I look completely different. And I'm still a long way from being able to do "Nasty Girls."
If you are willing to try it out, there are generally free intro classes offered in most communities to give you a little taste of what it's about. CrossFit gyms are called affiliates. There's a whole trademark thing and classes are expensive, but I've never spent my money and time better. The coaches are what make the program work. Of course there is a diet component that is recommended as well and it's typically Paleo. You can easily lose weight just by cutting all processed foods, but you'll gain strength, confidence and attitude if you add CrossFit.

| Anyone Recently Lost A Significant Amount of Weight? Posted: 8/11/2012 10:11:16 PM | | 130 lbs right here. Best thing I've ever done for myself. advice for those who want it....what worked for me wasn't fad dieting....and I tried em all lol....nothing worked as well as the simple mantra of eat less, move more. Start with what you're capable of, exercise wise. I started walking just a mile or two a day. This spring I did an 18 mile walk that felt like five...and another eight the next day. Everything you do adds up...just have patience and take it one day at a time. It's the decisions you make on each individual day that make the difference in the long haul.... | |

| Anyone Recently Lost A Significant Amount of Weight? Posted: 8/27/2012 3:19:41 PM | | Ah now then, I lost 1 stone, that's 14Ib. I was allocated a plot of land that was field of squitch weed. This I did dig, 180 square metres of it. I lost 7lb in three consecutive days, about 12 hrs digging. Then in all on completion of my task did I lose seven more . But for my travail I prevailed not in harvest rich , for such is the curse of the god's on me that blight did visit this dank isle whereon I am bound to thwart my endeavours. That blight made such devastation as had there not yet been seen, until I came. | |

| Anyone Recently Lost A Significant Amount of Weight? Posted: 8/31/2012 8:47:27 PM | I guess my story isn't about a 'significant' amount of weight.
It was just 5 to 8 lbs..
But it is funny. I just got back from 8 days in Quebec City. The tour I was on had a caterer prepare lunch and supper for us. Breakfasts were provided by the hotel. The breakfast consisted of 2-3 strips of bacon, 1 sausage link, a pile of nasty fake-yellow/white (depending on the day of the week; it progressed from white to more yellow over 5 days) 'eggs' that are most likely the evil twin sister of pink slime. I actually liked the two slices of toast with peanut butter caked on top and the over-cooked potatoes. Lunch and supper were identical to each other...... some sort of main course (good being lasagna, bad being something that might be called meatloaf) with boiled/soggy carrots and turnips as vegetables (*twice every day*..... never once was there anything resembling corn or salad or cucumbers or peas).
And the soup - with ONE exception - was carrots/turnips in boiled water.
This was topped off with a beautifully delicious cake for every dessert - carrot cake, or black forrest cake, etc.......
So, the moral of the story is that if you look forward to retching and cannot fathom the thought of going for seconds, you will not add pounds (even if you only eat disgusting stuff 3 times per day). Can't say I recommend this.

| Anyone Recently Lost A Significant Amount of Weight? Posted: 9/13/2012 5:19:34 AM | Since last year, I went from 195 to 144 by cutting out processed foods and fluctuating my exercise by 15%. The change in eating is what made the weight drop. I am now at ideal body weight or a few lbs under, this depends on your bone structure and mine is small.
In the past, I've done the original Body for Life plan(which is not the same today), but this time I did not use any shakes, bars or other supplements. Yes, it took a lot longer, but lets face it, time is something we all have. I'm proof you can do it supplement free.
What are my goals now? Anything I want them to be travel, sports, new language, knowledge, etc. Health and fitness should not be a goal so much as a lifestyle. It should be easy to present yourself the way you want to present yourself. The problem is the addictive food choices our there can get in the way of your presentation. Make the right choices and you can concentrate on other things instead of getting your body in shape, because it will already be in shape.

| Anyone Recently Lost A Significant Amount of Weight? Posted: 2/23/2013 7:05:30 AM | I have lost 141lbs, the first hundred came off in about 7 months...the last 41 lbs in the last 11 months, despite eating nothing but none processed foods and working out sometimes 7 days a week..I cut out meat, other then chicken occasionally, carbs include brown rice, farrow, barley, Quinoa, and Ive even tried blended drinks...cheese, milk products other then greek yogurt, I have a problem wanting sweets, so I eat honey on nuts, or even irish butter I know I know...but I crave it, or pop corn with olive oil and pepper, something in my body wants something and I dont know what it is LOL , Working out has been difficult as I cannot seem to eliminate pain...after working out for 2 or 3 days I hurt all over...I have good work out shoes. If I take advil or tylenol before working out it helps..but doesn't totally eliminate the pain. Alot of times I just get depressed and being on POF is not always a mood elevator. I am trying to stick to the forums because I am tired of being judged because of my looks...and it destroys my self confidence. I lost the motivation to work out after my divorce became final, now that I am alone...it just doesn't seem worth it...I know, i am already in therapy and group and I am proud of myself that I am off all meds except that for my A.D.D. Havent felt suicidal in awhile so all in all I am doing ok... I can do so much now that I couldn't do before, but I feel like I am wasting my life...I lost 30 yrs to an abusive man...and now I am losing yrs because I just can't get myself out there...I am scared and I dont want to get hurt any more... | |
