You are 5 foot 5 inches, I would not have thought that was sufficiently short to cause you so much anguish. Have you asked yourself if there are deeper issues effecting you aside from that.

But don't get me wrong, if that really is the route you want to go then full credit to you.

OP, its easy to take the surgical route to sort issues ( maybe not financially easy, but...), where do you stop ?

due to past medical issues, i`m nowhere near to what i would call attractive ( thats my perception of me), but, if i have surgery, what else would i find that makes me think i`m undatable ?, sure, i`m 6ft, slim, working, but that does`nt appear to help much,

the bottom line is, its your body, your decisions, but once you start to go down the route of "surgical improvement", it can get a hold of you, and spiral out of control ( not to mention also give your bank account a bloody good thrashing ! ),

good lucj what ever you decide, i hope it works out for you :O)

You are not that short there are many men out there that are shorter than you.Sounds like it could be more of a lack of confidence rather than a lack of height?Hope you keep putting it of and find somebody that likes you for who you are.goodluck

Agree with previous poster.

At 5'6" and due to my age apparently shrinking (eek!) I've never had a problem with my height which I've been since the age of 11.

Yep teenage years (when others were shooting past me) did lead to some angst but that was a pubescent foible I soon overcame. This was done by me entering and winning several public speaking competitions, which also got rid of my stammer.

To those that know me I am oft described as 'one of the most confident people they've ever met' it's not in my case a napoleon complex but moreso that I just don't give a damn about other peoples opinions of me, they are entitled to their opinion as I am mine.

On the dating front (in the real world) my stature...or indeed lack of it have never been a problem, but appreciate these situations let my personality shine through, in the virtual world it can't to the same degree and batter down those prejudices.

Regardless OP it is your own decision and at the end of the day (apart from it getting dark!) you will have to live with that. As other posters have eluded to, what happens if with your new found height you still can't get a date...what will be the next step.

Appreciate that both sexes with a modicum of sense can spot desparation a mile of, and to me that is the biggest single turn-off

I wish you well.

I remember watching an interview with a guy who had his legs stretched in order to gain a few inches in height, regardless of what he went through to achieve his goal - all that pain and suffering - paled into complete insignificance afterwards, he was really pleased with the outcome and it changed his life.

Pity you weren't a woman OP..I gained an inch or so after being pregnant to full term twice (along with a few extra lbs unfortunately)...I used to be a mere 5'8 and three quarters"...after the whole pregnancy bit I measured 5' 10"

I'm not looking forward to the day when gravity finally catches up with me and I become a mere speck of dust in comparison with the statuesque goddess I used to be at one time (am now)...the hunched shoulders, unsteady gait, my dissipating spine etc...my aunt used to be as tall as me and now she's at least three inches shorter thanks to the heavy weight living bears on us all eventually.

The person I saw being interviewed actually went to China for his operation, they've loads of experiences of those operations over there...apparently judging people on their lack of inches is rife there...you'll be passed over for good positions (career-wise) unless you physically reach a certain height...

I do know though, because of my 6'4" son's experience, that being tall is not all it's cracked up to be, in the sense that there's a load of shorter people being completely envious of your height and judging you alone on you height ...like being tall makes you some kind of arrogant and ignorant so & so...the amount of abuse my 17 yr old has had to put up with just because he's tall and built like a sh1t brick house is unbelievable, people are so jealous it's not true...

To conclude...be careful what you wish for and stay safe soldier.

My sister's hubby is about 5'6"/7" and she is 5' 10. There are a lot of men shorter than her, but it doesn't bother her at all and she wears heels on top of her height.

Height is immaterial if you love someone.

I think the problem is in your head rather than your height OP!
It is true that most women I know are initially attacted to taller men - including myself - but I recently met someone at work that is a short ass - and he is one of the sexiest men Ive seen in a long time!
If an operation is going to make you feel better and theres no guarantee go for it!
But feeling insecure about your physical appearance usually manifests itself in your personality - confidence ( not arrogance ) goes a long way!

do not get leg lenghening surgery, for christ sake do research...

its dangerous and can/has left people crippled,

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-1039416/Tall-order-The-bizarre-Russian-clinic-offers-leg-lengthening-surgery-STAND-pain.html

during her surgery six years ago, which cost almost £20,000, Sara's lower legs were broken in eight places and steel frames equipped with 14 steel pins were speared through her shin bones.

She went through an agonising rehabilitation period during which tiny dials attached to the pins in her legs were turned every day to help her broken bones lengthen.

'To me, it was the only solution,' says Sara. 'I'd spoken to many doctors and surgeons at home who told me that while the surgery could be done for children with deformities at home, they couldn't do it for purely cosmetic reasons.

'They also told me I was crazy and I could end up an amputee. They warned that I could become paralysed, that there were 250 different infections I could get in the bone. But I just decided to go ahead and have surgery anyway, and my research led me to Russia.

....
broken bones never truely heal right, stretch a balloon far enough? it gets weaker and then it bursts...

you also have the proportion issue, people can see disproportion in body shape...

just a though

Cheers

From your photos, you look around the same height as a couple of your friends?? And as has been asked why say 5'10" on your profile, you're not seriously thinking the lengthening procedure will add 5 inches to your height are you?

And just to add, my ex was 5'6" (one inch taller than me), it wasn't his height that attracted me initially, more a combination of his looks and confidence.

i use to work with a short fella whos nickname was 'little legs' and he was a nasty fecker..a real chip on his shoulder about his height..but he still managed to pull alot of women i noticed..you just have to get on with life and live with the cards you have been dealt with..some people are born tall..some short..some have little willys..some like me have big massive ones..some are born fecking liars..some are not..you just have to roll with the punches sort of thing and get on with it.

Load of crap - would you tell a flat chested woman that men don't care about breast size too ?

But that is precisely what I refer!
In fact I find large breasts an inconvenience, and I certainly prefer flat chested women. Further, I fail to understand why so many men are so insistent on large breasts? Could it be perhaps these were never suckled and their early childhood was marred by bouts of getting fed by a cold milk bottle with insufficient amounts of milk to boot?

So far as the height goes, it is what is in the mind, at the outset one must appreciate women hate everything, they are equal opportunity haters, they hate Sundays, they hate the buses, trains, men, boys, tall, short fat, slim ....... the premenstrual tension is no fiction, and some women suffer from pre pre, and post pre pre, and so forth, at least that is their excuse.

Have you thought of joining the jokey fraternity? Those guys enjoy their job and get paid for it too, and their pay most certainly beats the crap out of any normal paying jobs.

Ok, you know what I meant : MOST men prefer breasts to be at least a handful and MOST women prefer men to be taller when they put on their high heels - those are just facts that won't change no matter how shiny ones attitude/level of confidence is.

And wtf is the jokey fraternity ?

I think what some posters are forgetting that not all women are the same height. I have a number of friends who are 4' nothing, one of which is also a member on here and I'm sure for her someone of 5' 6" is might tall enough.

Surely it's all relevant?

Bloody hell OP.......you really aren't doing yourself any favours watching maudelin crap like that you tube clip you have on your profile.

Imagine being a 10 year old boy who suddenly starts to get a lot of pain in his hips, knees and ankles. Imagine months of hospital tests, while you get steadily worse. Imagine that you have got so bad that by the time they eventually diagnose you with Juvenile Arthritis and then a few months later with Crohns Disease....you can't even dress and undress yourself and some days you are on crutches. And imagine that during those years you have stopped growing altogether because the Crohns Disease is stopping your body from getting the nutrition it needs.
Imagine 3 years of weekly injections that help your knees and ankles but not your hips. Imagine being in debilitating pain every time you even sneeze because it jars your back and hips....and imagine that you still aren't growing properly.
Imagine being nearly 16 by the time they decide they are forced to change your medication because your back is starting to become permanently damaged. Imagine the new medication (given intraveniously in hospital every four weeks) is working. You have very little pain and have started growing properly again. But imagine the new medication hasnt been around long so you have no idea what (if any) the long term side effects will be. Imagine that if you ever want to start a family you will have to come off that medication and be in pain again for months....because the medication can cause miscarriages.

Imagine for a few minutes living like THAT or being one of the thousands of people who live every day with asthma, diabeties and terrible disabilities.
Then look in the mirror and realise how lucky you are to be born healthy and whole........stop feeling sorry for yourself, and get out into the world and live your life.

Short stature, tall wallet. Ask Bernie Ecclestone. Such is the way of the world. All you can do is to try to navigate your way around it as best as you can or leave it well alone if it bothers you too much.

There are too many shallow Hals and Halettes in the world. Extermination would be an interesting idea but a bit of a non-starter. What do you do?

OP are you on some kind of psychiatric medication? That stuff can and will seriously twist your world, they don't know how it works in the brain.

Search for "medical journals are an extension of" to find a peer reviewed medical journal in Plos "Medical Journals Are an Extension of the Marketing Arm of Pharmaceutical Companies".

US army is the most medicated army in the world...

http://www.rt.com/news/us-soldiers-suicide-combat-487/

Just saying pharmacueticals can seriously f*** up your emotions, and that even includes non psychiatric such as Statins causing depression and smoking cessation drugs...

http://www.fda.gov/forconsumers/consumerupdates/ucm170356.htm

"The warning will highlight the risk of serious mental health events including changes in behavior, depressed mood, hostility, and suicidal thoughts when taking these drugs"......hmmmm "depressed mood" the chemical for Chantix is also marketed as Wellbutrin anti-depressant.

(FDA often only says things like that when there are so many deaths, adverse reactions and media attention that it has to for fear of making it look obvious who's side they are really on).

I put my leck out in the laughter, like those who warned about antidepressant suicide in the late 90's before the black box warning for suicide for under 25's which is now included. I put my leck out in the laughter, those who laugh will make themselves scarce when the truth grows to be undeniable.

OP, it sounds as if you dont like your own height, and when turned down you blame your height?

A man may turn me down due to age, height (I am tall), not being a blond, not having massive breastage...any number of reasons...we like who we like and I wouldn't change a thing about me for random strangers.
