I saw a woman's profile today that stated 'nobody under 6ft' even if you are 5,11 and half.................SERIOUSLY? She would turn down a great guy, because of half an inch. How can you even tell the difference between 6ft and 5,11 and half anyway???
As I said earlier, someone women go out of their way to confirm their stupidity in public. She probably carries a measuring tape in her handbag. Bless ! | |

A lot of my self confidence comes from being a big, strong fella. I've often wondered how differently I might feel if I had to go through life looking up at everyone. I'm not sure I'd like it - but then I can honestly say that I've never thought any less of anybody because of their height either.
I think surgery is a bit extreme though OP - consider a move to Wales first. The women here seem to be mainly in the 5"2 - 5"4 range - I'm kind of freakishly tall here. | |

While you can be tall and strong. Tall does not always equate being strong. I see so many profiles from women saying they like guys who are tall "to make them feel safe". Height is merely an indication of ...........height. I've rattled many guys on the Judo mat who were 6,2,63,6,4 and even 6,5! I think women assume height means power. It's the same for girls, the best female judo players I know are smaller, less legs to them etc.....
I have a friend who is 5,7 and his bench press stats are freakishly good.

Ha, well actually I learned that lesson young. When I was about 16 or so and out drinking one night [yup, you guessed it... tall = get served in pubs/clubs at young age] this little guy overheard me taking the mickey out of him and took exception. Turns out he was some sort of County martial arts champion. I had the devil of a time explaining the bruises to my parents the next morning.
I learned a valuable lesson that day... lol | |

Mind you - some men had to pay for that kind of thing, for me it was free on tap haha | |

I could start a thread saying men hate tall women because there are a lot of male profiles, especially of men 6ft plus who state they want a woman under 5'6, but I won't - I don't like to generalise and we all have our preferences and if I'm not someone's cup of tea it's no great loss to me. | |

I think that smaller folk quickly learn to jump up and down a lot, especially in crowded pubs.
I thought about those springy things that attach to your feet, but I saw a bloke with them fall over on the seafront at Minehead about two years ago, and I still haven't stopped laughing yet, so perhaps not.

Posted: 8/1/2012 2:48:17 AM | I never had any issues with short men until I became the mother of a tall child - I'm used to short men or at least shorter men, but I never realised how deep their resentment towards taller menfolk actually went until my own son became the victim of those jealous swines.
As soon as short men stop hating tall men, I might consider liking them once again...until then short men can go and jump.
and btw my son, despite his hyper height...because according to this thread...short men are supposed to be stronger and more deft when it comes to physical fighting the taller lot....is incredibly strong and agile too - but he was so strong all his life that he wrecked my house...every single thing in my home was destroyed, not because he was clumsy but because he didn't know his own strength...it's a feckin' liability having a colossus of a gargantuan child, it's cost me a small fortune.
And another thing about tall men is that most women want them to be the father of their children because they like the idea of having physically perfect children for some strange reason....so think on short men...don't dare start slagging off taller men on this thread when I'm about. | |

It's no wonder so many women out there are fixed on hooking up with taller guys if they all buy into this nonsense! :-D
I could kinda appreciate the 'genetic' argument to some degree, that at a primative level there was once some evolutionary merit for guys to be taller (so it's not a matter of choice for females to go for taller guys, more of a 'hard-coded' survival thing), but we now live in a modern world where it is estimated that 75% of Americans have flawed vision and require corrective equipment (glasses or contact lenses) to see properly. Well, I could imagine a physical quality like decent eyesight being of just as much practical use when surviving out in the wilderness as height, so why aren't women genetically attracted to guys with perfect vision too?
Personally, I just think it's all socio-psychological. Tall has always been fashionable and viewed favourably, going way back before the modern world to when it actually mattered, and has remained a self-perpetuating social trend ever since.
Ginger-haired folks have to put up with the same kind of social stigma as short men for some reason. Is it any wonder they also have a reputation for being 'fiery' and aggressive, just like short men!? ;-) | |

and if you read the thread properly, we never said that short guys are stronger, we said height has nothing to do with it. If you are strong, you are strong, regardless of height....
I have no jealousy towards tall guys, as being good looking, has nothing to do with height, you get average height guys who are good looking and not so good looking, you get tall guys who are average looking and good looking. I'm 5,10, athletic, I've represented my country at sport, I work out, I'm broad shouldered, and built. The fact I'm 5,10 does not bother me one bit. My only wish was that I've always had fine, flyaway hair, which means I keep it shorter, so longer styles dont suit me lol Plus being anywhere over 6,4 tends to cause people to 'stoop' and causes bad posture.

Posted: 8/1/2012 9:43:15 AM | | my fiance is 6ft 3. he does tend to stoop and therefore has bad posture. but i love him for who he is. ive dated a guy smaller than me too. he was about 5ft 4, im 5ft 5. my ex husband was 5ft 8. the point is ive dated men of various heights. im not that bothered. all of us dislike something about our appearance dont we? we should make the best of what we have got. i cant say i know how the op feels but i have great sympathy for him. i hope he doesnt go through with either choice but can improve his self esteem and confidence and learn to live with his perceived problem. he could be worse off, as has already been said. hes not disabled etc. i have a friend who is in a wheelchair and her spirit is inspirational. i wish he could meet her. good luck op | |

I doubt my daughter will be as tall as me, despite her father being the same height as me. She has a totally different body shape.
I'm tall. 5ft 11. When you are a tall woman you seriously limit your chances of finding the right partner by only dating taller men.
Short men do not hate tall men. I have a feeling I know the type of guy you are talking about though. Turns out they hate themselves, usually. This is not the fault of tall men! | |
