Not all women cry openly and not all men stay silent. Ive found men will definitely open up if they are around someone they can trust, but there aren't too many trustworthy people who are non-judgmental...

Actually, Capn, if you think about it, since man is an animal, I think it is more of a defense mechanism. In the wild, the weakest in the pack or herd are preyed upon. It's not much different with men. Often, they are ridiculed by women and other men for displaying any kind of vulnerability. I think it strongly parallels predatory behavior.

I posted this quote in another thread; "Big boys don't cry, Real Men Do!!"

If you think about it, I think it shows great strength and courage for a man to risk ridicule in showing his feelings and being vulnerable. The alternative is holding them inside, repeatedly, until one day, he just explodes. I'm pretty sure no one wants to be in that blast radius when he snaps....

I've been there a few times... And I've even warned people that it's coming, to stop doing what they're doing... Cuz I know me, I know when I'm getting close to that point, I know what's causing it, and I know how to prevent it. But then when I do finally get pissed and really tell the other person off, I'm the bad guy

there are 2 types of anger I have.

1. I tell you and I express it <----- pissed off

2. I stay quiet and when you least expect it, I blow up at ya. <-------- This is when I'm Beyond pissed it would take a LOT to get me at that level.
