i would open a nude resturant where the custumers and servers would have to be naked.all food would be eaten with hands only and no utensils like finger foods.feeding each other would be advised.very erotic with dim light and pillows and plush curtains and beds everywhere.the only people that would be dressed is the kitchen staff for safety reasons.it would suck to accidently get burned in certain areas of your body and of course you would have to be 19+

A spaghetti/pasta "to go" place. Where the pasta is served in buckets, like KFC, and there's a bucket for ten, five, two or one. Get it? Anyway the customer can pick from a variety of different pastas as well as sauces for the pastas. Salad and bread in the appropriate portions ordered are included. The kicker is the name "Spaghetti Eddies". Get a compilation of endorsements from various famous or infamous eddies or ed's, put a bio of each one on the bucket lids with pictures. Decore the place with autographs and memorbelia [sp?] from these individuals. ouala!

In Louisville Colorado was the best italian, homemade spag and it was thick and they sold it by the quart and gallon. Colaci's and the Blue Parrot. Same family a block apart and they were both good because the food was made in one kitchen! That and their lasagna was the best. People drove from all over on Thursday when they would make the Cacciatori, so it would be fresh at lunch time. They were 10 minutes drive from either Boulder or Denver.

Ask me I used to work there!

You, the illustrious, uh, whats your name... worked for a bucket spaghetti joint? I cannot accept that! Maybe a high school position.

I lived in the Springs for a few years, love Colorado!

I did and I loved my time with that family. I have to admit it was pretty fun. It wasn't a bucket spag place, it's just that they sold more to go pasta than they sold in house, because it was fresh and made no more than a day ago. I wish there was a place like that here. Just for the homemade pasta.

Colorado was where I perfected my craft. From the Front Range to the mountains of Aspen

Lets open just such a place. It would be soooo easy, and the food costs are really low on homemade pastas and sauces. Perhaps there is an old professional extruder available somewhere that can be displayed as it cranks out awesome raviolis in view of the public.

Here in a city of 5 million I have thought it would be easy to start and keep open, being the only one. And restaurants would be buying from us. You could be drying them out and sell them the next day in a little shop with sauces and pastas. restuarants would love the fresh lasagna sheets, like I used to buy in Hawaii. I heard that huy is out of business also. hmmm?

Not just the cheeses you mentioned but all the other things that go along with being italian, breads, oils, vinegars, and vineaigrettes. Canned olives, peppers, cherry peppers, gaurdinara, pepperoncini, yada, yada, yada. U get the idea.

There used to be one in Dallas. They were open to the public and sold to local grocers and restaurants. Guess it was more profitable to sell wholesale because they dropped their retail store. They made a mushroom lasagne that was devine with fresh cheeses, fresh pasta, really fresh sauce (you could see the lightly colored pieces of tomato) and of course the pasta sheets. They only had about 10 tables, but were always busy, and the kitchen was open so you could watch them making the pasta. Giant Hobarts mixing up dough....mmmm.

I think a pasta shop, and perhaps the addition of a few fresh cheeses (my love) would do the trick for a couple of old hounds like us.

I guess if I opened up my own restaurant it will have to be a fresh produce restaurant with all fresh fruit and veg in a clean and very tidy environment. I guess the pull would proobably the fact that I'll only hire Hot Chicks to work as waitresses. But the place would do anything from freshly squeezed juices to fruit salads etc

You should have asked, "If you can open a real restaurant...?" Most of that was just dumb. A nude restaurant? A place where only hot people serve you and get's shut down for discrimination? One where bare chested ( and bare underarms...! Yuck! ) men wait on you? Can you imagine the pit hair in your soup?

Random's Restaurant would focus on:

Around the world in one meal.

You pick appetizers, drinks, salads, side dishes, main course, dessert all from a different geographical locations thus around the world in one easy meal.

Because variety really is the spice of life.

I dunno, really, but it's what popped into my head at the moment. Plus a lot of the fusion cuisine in one dish doesnt work so well but fusion through the different meal courses does. I've been tinkering with the idea for years now at home since its how I personally like to eat and often do.

Try to keep it mostly healthy but substanial food with the fat and decadence being in the desserts -- The many faces of chocolate.

Live music would be nice. Maybe a different ethnic band every night that matches an ethnic drink and meal special. I like french, japanese, swedish, ukrainian, italian, mexican, and thai. No english food and no american food.

One of my dreams is to open a Restaurant of my own. It will be called "Just Kids". It will be not taller than five (5) feet high, so as to be able to accommocate the height of children. The counters will be at children's level of height as well. It will only be open after school. I will be the proprietor, but the children will be the majority of the employees. It will contain only what foods children like(Brat Burger, Tikes Taters, or Saucey Salad). It will have a Grandma and Grandpa as Host and Hostess. All I really need is someone to foot the bill to get it going for me and it would be a hit.

It'd be a coffee shop. But one the likes never seen before round these parts. I'd have no sit down spots, just one long bar with a foot rail for the people that don't like to eat in their cars. The coffee would be southern, and ONLY southern. I'm talking 'slap yo mamma' coffee. Brand called Comeaux's, or maybe Seaport - no fancy schmancy crap. The food? 2 things. French Quarter beignets, and kolaches (SPICY sausage wrapped in flaky pastry type). This way you don't need menus, and there wouldn't be any 'special requests/orders'. Just keep it hot and keep it comin'.

I'd also place it at a major freeway intersection, preferably next to a truck stop.

I'd name it Darwin's (theory of evolution, get it?), and I'd let others work the ovens/deep fryers and coffee pots, while I do all the accounting.

hmm I'd probably do a combination, sit down inside, outside sidewalk cafe thing, carry out. Fresh breads/rolls/other types of breads, soups, chillies etc 3 or 4 of each per day. vegan and meat both. Simple deserts, like self contained pies or carob and chocolate truffles. things people could carry with them.
I'd probably do the menus, and start things, but let others run it.

I've thought about this a lot, I love to cook!

My fantasy restaurant would be a vegan restaurant very similar to Red Bamboo in Manhattan/& Brooklyn, only this one would be three blocks from my home.

I would open an old fashioned smoke house. Pit BBQ style similar to Aurthur Bryant's in KC. Yep, just succulent chunks or slices of smoked meats and a handful of fries. Brisket, beef and pork ribs, whole chickens and turkeys, and several types of sausage. Damn I'm getting hungry.

Resisting temptation to post on this topic failing...

I think the neighbor's heard me laughing at the names "Darwin's" and "Your Mama's Kitchen". ( I get a kick out of puns, even if "Your Mama's Kitchen" wasn't a pun... )

I would have one where you could attend an area in the restaurant, choose your own menu items, cook it yourself and then eat what someone else made (in your particular party). This could also be fun if you have multiple personalities.

I'd call it "Fare's Fair".

I would love to have something between a small family type restaurant and a coffee shop. Would convert an older building or house using green materials--make it as efficient as possible. Natural wood, stone, somewhat rustic warm atmosphere using bamboo flooring, pine flooring or recycled materials. Make it very comfortable and comforting.

As for food I would serve healthy meals in PROPER proportions. Organic plant-based meals, some raw foods, with very small amounts of fish and meat on some days of the week. I'm not exactly a vegetarian and especially not a vegan vegetarian, but I do believe that the easier a food is to prepare for eating, the better it probably is for us and the more we should eat of it. Therefore foods that need to be cooked in order to be safe to eat--like meat--should be eaten in tiny amounts. Foods that need preparation in order to eat--like bakery/bread/pasta--should be eaten in tiny amounts. Foods that don't need to be cooked at all--like many fruits and veggies--should be eaten in large amounts. Foods that may or may not need to be lightly cooked should be eaten in moderate amounts.

Any Terry Pratchett fans out there? I'd like to open a place called "CMOT's" and sell Sausage-inna-bun, Knuckle Sandwiches, Clutie Dumplings and Nobby's Mum's Distressed Pudding. Also the books & T-shirts. Maybe a pottery shop on the side.
