The chances are, given that there are attractive people in all races, is that you (I'm not using the word you personally here) have some preconceived idea about people from that race x. The chances are we all have been indoctrinated with prejudice and certain crap sits around in our heads which we are unaware of, unless we make the effort at self-examination.
That may be some truth to that, but to use me as an example, there is one 'race' to which I have almost no attraction, and no negative prejudicial regard for it at all. It is just taste, perhaps influence by a lack of exposure to that race. There is certainly another race to which I have grown more attracted to over time, so maybe that it is.
A good case in point would be our current round of popular belief that all Muslims are extremists, ergo Western and Middle Eastern cultures are incompatible, when in fact moderate and tolerant belief systems on both sides potentially are compatible.
I hold to the belief in incompatibility to a large extent, and indeed using the UN's own criteria I am an Islamaphobe. This does not effect how I interact with individual Muslims, or how I judge the attractiveness of Muslims.
So though I think some of what you said is on the ball for some people, it does not apply to me, and I feel slightly unfairly chastied for my innate unconscious tastes! ;-) |
