Anyway, I lost my virginity to a woman on her period, so I have a different perspective than many. It's not gross, it's natural, and the reason there's a post posing this question speaks to the nature of human relations - many of us want to be with our SO all the time, rather than 3/4ths of the time. And some women really get turned on at this time - no doubt about that.
Of course, I'd do it in a heartbeat. A few notes:
yes, it does seem to relieve cramping in women that suffer from this, at least in my experience. I find this works best
if she achieves orgasm - there's something about the mechanics of that that does the trick. I've heard that works for labor pains, too, but that would be another thread.
Certain women have more acidic flow than others, which leads to a distinct burning sensation for me if I'm au naturel-definitely the least fun part of the experience. Semen makes for a decent defense, since it's alkaline, but it might not get to the affected area until the damage is done. Ouch.
Hey, but not wearing a condom is a huge upside to doing this at this time of month (between trusted, disease-free partners, of course). Women in my life rarely took responsibility for birth control, even before the AIDS era, so as a man I'm always wearing latex--such a bummer as no woman will ever understand. Her period is the one time a month I can have skin-on-skin contact and really get off, unfettered by clumsy, sensation-deadening condoms. Thank God (or Buddah, Allah, space aliens -- did I forget anyone?) for menses.
With that in mind, understand that there is still a risk of pregnancy, so the best time for goin' commando is at the start, when she
usually feels the worst and flow is heaviest. Is nothing ever easy?
Uh, dark brown towels are best for clean-up, if you want to know. Blood dries closer to this color than any other.

A womans period is not on a strict timetable and can vary significantly, in other words, you might set out on this particular picnic on a nice dry day and still find yourself caught out in a storm so the only way to be entirely safe would be to stay home and dry. | |

personally i prefer more subtle descriptions as i'm sure many people do. I like many women enjoy it at this time but whether man or woman it depends how squeamish one might be.
I had an incident where i was with a partner....me on top, wasn't on my period but just about to start.... lets say when i got off and we were all done he thought i'd cut his bits off. Blood everywhere! I think it put him off for a while afterwards but it was for my quite amusing to see the complete shock and horror on his face......got to see the funny side!!! | |

I had one partner who wouldn't sleep with me while I was bleeding, and it made me horribly self-conscious about one of the natural workings of my body, made me dread that week, etc. I won't do that again. None of my other partners have had an issue with it--you throw down a towel and hit the shower after.
I don't require oral sex while on my period, though I'd love a partner who'd do it (and I have had a couple who would)--I seem to be uniquely sensitive to it around the start of my period, and much as I love oral sex normally, I'm particularly receptive at that point. Yum. | |
