| who is the number 1 sporting legend?

For me personally I dont think the likes of Babe Ruth,Michael Jordan,Joe Montana etc can be put into that top bracket as they have been involved in sports/leagues that are played in one place or between a couple of countries,such as the US and Canada.
In terms of the sports those people play,yes they are legends but in order to reach the true Sporting legend status I think you have to be involved in a sport that is played all over the world.This would lead me to think of such names as:-
Tiger woods/Jack Nicklaus
Maradona/pele
Mark Spitz
Carl Lewis/Jessie owens
Steve Redgrave
Bjorn Borg
Muhamad Ali
Ayrton Senna
Now on top of that,for me anyway,I feel that to top that list you need to "Transcend" the sport you are in,and for me there is only one winner:-

The Sport of Nascar will soon be world wide if France has his way. He is already trying to get into the Chinese market as well as Mexico and Cannuckada. The recognition continues!!  | |
