| who is the number 1 sporting legend? Posted: 4/21/2008 9:07:55 AM | | I think for me it has to be the late great czech athlete Emil Zátopek. This was a man who in the 1952 summer Olympics in Helsinki won the 5000m, 1000m and the marathon at one Olympics. Even to compete in all three events would be impressive, but to actually win them all is super human. | |

| who is the number 1 sporting legend? Posted: 4/22/2008 8:35:51 AM | | I worship at the shrine of St. Patrick Roy. The 93 Canadiens were my all time favorite play offs performance and he took them on his back and won that cup. | |

| who is the number 1 sporting legend? Posted: 4/24/2008 8:03:48 PM | Tiger has dominated like no other here recently since Jordan. Look for Chris Paul to reinvent Magic's position with scoring and assists galore.
My favorite legend is Montana and Rice equally.

my answer - Michael Jordan or Ali.
they're much more than athletes of a sport. they transcended themselves to so much more.

| who is the number 1 sporting legend? Posted: 5/15/2008 10:12:59 PM | | Ali is the definition of what a champion is, i could name numerous fights but if you were a fight fan..well i wouldnt have to and because i dont want im not. Also unlike marciano ali was able to continue fighting past his prime and win the heavyweight title. Marciano was a hell of slugger and great champion but your post is pointless because marciano was not "the undefeated heavyweight champ for his ENTIRE career"...though he was undefeated his entire career. Regardless....he's definetly not the sporting icon that ali is simply because ali took the sport worldwide and brought the high level of media with him everywhere he went. People around the world tell stories about ali because people around the world have seen him fight legendary fights. Marciano fought classics but well he's more of an american boxing icon. Ali truely does own most when it come down to it. Jordan, pele or maradona or a close second imo, but in somebody else's either one of those could be number one. That's if were talking worldwide. | |

Oscar Robertson ... He maintained a triple double average for his entire career.
That was a season. His career rebounds/game and assists/game are 7.5 and 9.5, respectively.
