Knowing that the other peson feels the same way about you without having to hound them all of the time or waste time wondering what the other person feels about you. The "I know" factor and knowing exactly what the other person is thinking from a glance across the room is awesome. Also knowing the other person's dreams and childhood stories to a "T"...you almost start to envision your own dreams and stories intertwining with their's. Then there's the sex..oh boy, the open and unjudging physical exploration...magical! Ah...memories.... | |

Also, I see people in love get married 52 weeks a year. I'm happy for them, but that level of love is beyond me. | |

I am a trouch-feely kind of guy and I miss the closeness to a partner most in the morning and at bedtime, but c'est la vie. One gets used to being alone, making up excuses to just step outside and watch the world go by. It's a common sight in today's society and a sad commentary on this millenium. People are unhappily coupled, yet singles would gladly be with someone they could talk with, be with, and share with. What happened to celebrating life? Are people getting jaded and sterile to the world of genuine interpersonal dialogue? Hmmm. | |

I have been truly IN love twice......and both of them ended not because either of us fell out of love.....but other circumstances that can occur in life.......
yes I miss warm strong arms holding me all night......the feel of my man's strong...warm chest under my lips....my breath on his neck....his heartbeat against my cheek....
I miss Love so badly........I ache......what is sad....to me...is that I dont fall in love easily....as most women do.....and I CANT fall in love with a man just because he is good to me.......there has to be a connection and not just sexual for me......(although the sex does have to be Awesome)hehe...
I have to have an emotional connection......where he crosses my mind often....when I wake up....when I am falling asleep.......when I am working.....when I am in love...I give 100% of myself..to make my lover happy.....and excited and ..content all in one breath!....but....I expect the SAME in return...and if I dont get this....eventually.....I move on....it has to be both ways.....

Posted: 9/3/2005 8:46:14 AM | Hi guys, I'm new at this so hope I do this correctly. When I look back I realize that I have never been in love. Of course with my children it is a fierce love but as to a partner maybe I have always expected too much or thought it was to be certain way and it never got there. That doesn't mean at my age I have stopped the search. Just once I would to find love to find the whole package that goes with it.
Don't get me wrong though, I am happy with my life but this would just put the icing on it.

You are up all night excited about that other person and then the next day you arent even tired, you cant stop thinking about the person all day, you cant wait to touch them and hold them and all the mushy stuff. Then as time goes on all the new love feelings fade, and then real love sets in. All the feelings are good though. I would love to be there again. | |

That long and lasting kind of love that two people have. The kind of love that trusts, communicates, understands, listens, gives and takes too. The kind of love that endures all times good and bad. Weathers all storms. Grows old together. From the first date where young lovers were shy and not too sure of the other until it took root and started to grow.
From the first kiss on the porch all the way to their little old house smelling like Vicks Vapo Rub on a cold winters night. Those two people in love...

Yes, I do (written with a sigh). There are so many levels of love, I'm assuming that you are asking from a romantic prospective. I too miss that incredible feeling. For those of us who are a little more seasoned (age wise), we all know what broken hearts can do. It can make us so guarded that the re-entry of love is close to impossible. It's like watching the flame, wanting to touch it but knowing if we do, we will (might) get burned.
To all of the members who answered honestly, I know how you feel and wish all you the best of luck in re-finding that most wonderful feeling (me included).

Love is like a storm, a tsunami of emotion. When it sweeps you away it is euphoric and breathtaking but when it is damaging it is devastating.
I wouldn't like either of those. I don't like big emotional extremes, good or bad; to use the analogy from the movie 'Parenthood', I always rode the merry-go-round rather than the roller coaster. (Actually, I rode the benches on the merry-go-round, not the horses.) My idea of a relationship would be to skip entirely over the passion and breathtaking euphoria and all that, and go straight to comfortable. | |
