| Your getting older, what do you miss the most from your youth... Posted: 5/24/2007 10:11:42 PM | | I don't really miss too much from when I was younger. I think if I tried to relive it I wouldn't survive it. lol. Like those Diet Pepsi commercials where they look back on their youth and decide to stick with their pepsi. Plus I'm still having fun. My kids keep me youthful. | |

(messages this short - yada yada yada)

We had lots of animals. I miss dreaming about boys and wondering if they would ask me to slow dance. And I miss the boundless energy that I had.

Youth was fun and I was very active with the broken bones, stitches and concussions that came along with it. Now, I am feeling those old injuries. That is what I miss. But of course without the pain I would probably do most of it over again and still end up injured or possible dead the next time around. LOL

| Your getting older, what do you miss the most from your youth... Posted: 6/9/2007 10:24:49 AM | I miss my grandmother ... she was THE point of light in an extremely dysfunctional family dynamic ...
... and I miss the dogs that were by my side throughout my youth ... I still smile and my heart opens a bit when I think of that truely quality time spent with each of my dogs as I was growing up ...
oh, yea ... A & W rootbeer in a tall, frosty mug ... definitely served with NO ICE, aluminum cans or styrofoam cups ...
... and, waking up early Saturday morning to watch Land Of The Lost ...
suppose, too, that, like most of us, I miss having the not - so - injured body of my youth ... it sucks too have certain physical limitations or having to take an extra long moment to ponder the "what if" factor ...
What I DO enjoy about looking back is knowing that I'm pretty darn close too being the person that I wanted to be ... the person that I was and the person that I could be were always closely aligned even if I didn't understand it as a child ... as far back as the second grade, I had a distinct vision of my bigger self and what I would present to my community ... and that it was ok to be comfortable in my own skin ... granted, the path hasn't been what I expected 'cause the Universe sure does move in some strange and mysterious ways ... but in this present moment, I think back and am happy to know that things were so well defined in my mind and heartspace and that I was right on for the most part ... that realization empowers me as I look too the future ... it's all good, it just ain't always easy!
sorry to get off track here but just had to let it flow ... ...

I miss...
- The illusion of invincibility. Once I was "broken" a few times (Motorcycles, American football, etc) that illusion departed. - Not knowing what a broken heart was (from either perspective.) - Knowing I had my whole life in front of me, and that I could do (and be) anything I wanted. Anything was possible... - Endless summers on Cape Cod (Massachusetts) - Inexpensive gasoline - The opportunity to make mistakes without damaging my future. - "Hope" - Walking without pain - Motocross - Waterskiing - Jumping out of trees, off roofs, down hills and other crazy stuff. (~now you know why I don't walk pain free!~) - being supported; not having a care in the world - a number of friends and family who have since passed away - Fizzies!
*sigh*
Can I have a do-over?! | |

| Your getting older, what do you miss the most from your youth... Posted: 6/20/2007 6:36:12 PM | Are you kidding? I wouldn't go back for nothing in the world!
Seriously, I like the 40's better than any age so far. Sure, dating was easier in the 1970's, because the girls were as stupid as the boys and would say "okay" without a thought :).
But being 46, I don't know, I am happier, independent, self-reliant, and most of all capable of doing anything I want to do and smart enough not to do the things I can't or shouldn't.
Dating, well, the 40's is better there too. There is little use for mind games and drama at this age. Especially from divorced people. They learned all they need to to make a second, (or third, or fourth!) relationship mean more.
In my youthful days, I was a total screw up, always doing the wrong things, making the wrong choices. I'm sure most of us can say that.
No, I don't miss my youth. I celebrate my age. Now has anyone seen my pain pills and rolaids?

| Your getting older, what do you miss the most from your youth... Posted: 6/21/2007 3:02:02 AM | I miss nothing, because physically I feel exactly the same now at 33 as I did at 20. I guess a fitness lifestyle has it's benefits.
Yeah, I guess I miss having mates to call and catch up anytime. Now it's all about if the wifey lets hubby visit, make sure baby is taken care of etc, my pool of mates to hang out with is greatly diminished.
Guess I better hurry up and find a wife and be part of the crowd at my age.
