I was 8 and my brother was 7 and we were playing baseball down the street, defending the Vine Street Nine's winning streak. My Dad shows up and says,"get yer a$$e$ home now!" He then made us sit there in front of the TV set saying," you're going to thank me someday for making you come home and watch history in the making!" The thing that really pi$$ed me off was, we had a brand new 25 inch color TV, and the moon pictures were all in black and white. And whats more, there was no moon monsters going after the astronauts. pretty boring for a little kid. Thats one garbled picture to show,.....and one giant butt sore for sure.

I was living in australia at the time, I was 8 or 9 playing at the back of the house. I had no idea that people were going to the moon! I was in my own wold. It was a very clear day as I looked up into the sky, and to my serprise I saw this plane with no wings!!! So I ran into the house telling my farther that theres a needle flying in the sky? Well he jumpt up and ran as fast as he could to see the rocket and said, that he was just watching it on the tv!!!

I was watching it on TV. The old wanna be an atronaut thing. Alas, I didn't realize motion sickness and space flight aren't compatible for many years.

They sure sent up a lot of Apollo missions up within the framework of a year then.

Deadly Bills the Taxpayer had to foot though.

*******************************************

A miniscule drop in the bucket compared to what was wasted on the Vietnam war.I was 9,I stayed up late and watched it.We were livng in Charleston,SC and I remember every time there was a moon shot, the weather usually turned bad and the superstitious attempted to place blame in NASA for that.

There was a lot of space stuff and phenomena happening about that time.A year earlier the Kubrick film "2001:A Sapce Oddesey" came out.Not long after Armstrong walked on the moon, the first shots of Mars from the Mariner sattelite were being beamed back, then less than a year later we had a total solar eclipse.I remember being optimistic about people walking on Mars not too long after that.Boy what a dissapointment.

I was 8, we were living in upstate NY at the time. One of my father's sisters had passed away and was being buried at Arlington Cemetery in VA on Sunday. My parents left to attend leaving me with my two older sibs, during the gathering after the funeral he called us to make sure we were watching. I stayed on the phone with him as Armstrong stepped out and walked, he told me how incredible it was and didn't want me to miss it or forget it. We watched several takeoffs later during the years including the space shuttles and of course the Challenger tragedy, he was always fascinated by space and astronomy. My brother is just like him, used to wake us up in the middle of the night to watch meteor showers. One of those crazy little things you end up missing later.

I watched the Apollo take-off from the roof of my parents house. Both my parents worked at NASA at the time. A great time in Florida.

LOL! you peeps don't really believe that man landed on the moon do ya? Not a chance, forget the theories, here are a few short facts....

1) The temp up there is 250c, what did they run the aircon on, batteries?

2) Nasa made all the worldwide tv co's record there pictures direct from a tv set, they didn't allow anybody live feeds - so of course we couldn't look too clearly!

3) When Amelia Earhardt made her great voyage, did all her fellow flyers say, wow! thats a job well done, now shall we wait 34 years to do it again?

4) the moon is 100,000 times further than man has/had evet travelled before. With me now? lol

5) The shuttle era spend all its time dawdling around 250 miles above the atmosphere, and that was in the days of colour tv, microwaves, the internet, dvd's, and computers that don't look like giant milking machines, are we really saying that Nasa sussed this amazing job prior to flared trousers? No way!

Once again the voice of ignorance rants on.

1):Yes,the suits were powered by batteries,or hey wait,no they just had a very long extension cord.Sheesh!

2)No live feeds, idiot, because the signal that came from the moon was not an NTSC TV signal.Digital conversion didn't exist then.It was a 15 frame per second signal sent by laser I believe,at any rate, shooting a TV screen was the only way it could've been broadcast.

Your points 3 and 4 are just too silly to respond to,they lead to your point 5,the shuttle program was designed to make the space program pay for itself with sattlelite repair and such.Pure science projects like the moon trip was just too expensive to continue.

Out of all the conspiracy theories, the moon hoax one is the silliest for it is based on ignorance of photography,TV technology, physics and the Apollo program in general.

I was watching on a neighbor's color TV - we didn't have color TV, and though the transmission from the moon was in b/w, the commentary was in color.
