WHew. I really _am_ old. I was sitting with a boyfriend who had the mumps. I was 19. He was 20. We were watching it in his bedroom upstairs and I said I had to go home (I remember thinking - this is BORing). He was a lunatic. I was a pretty little dumb blonde who did not think there were bad people in my town. He got a gun and held me there overnight. I was annoyed and bored. His roommate came home in the morning and I said, "Would you ask him to let me go, please? I need to get to work." His roommate said: "Go! Run! No - don't say goodbye to him, you silly a$$."

I never even called the cops. He was 6 feet 8 inches tall and crazy as a pet coon. It never occurred to me until years later that he might actually have turned us into a Gazette story. I was just petulant because I didn't get my way. I didn't go out with him anymore, but I wasn't overly alarmed about it, because I had other boyfriends.

Today I'd have crawled out the second-story window, or screamed, or shot him with the gun I carry. I don't know what I was thinking then. It just seemed surreal. The gun, the B&W TV coverage, people walking on the moon. Probably all that weed.

LOL! you peeps don't really believe that man landed on the moon do ya? Not a chance, forget the theories, here are a few short facts....

1) The temp up there is 250c, what did they run the aircon on, batteries?

2) Nasa made all the worldwide tv co's record there pictures direct from a tv set, they didn't allow anybody live feeds - so of course we couldn't look too clearly!

3) When Amelia Earhardt made her great voyage, did all her fellow flyers say, wow! thats a job well done, now shall we wait 34 years to do it again?

4) the moon is 100,000 times further than man has/had evet travelled before. With me now? lol

5) The shuttle era spend all its time dawdling around 250 miles above the atmosphere, and that was in the days of colour tv, microwaves, the internet, dvd's, and computers that don't look like giant milking machines, are we really saying that Nasa sussed this amazing job prior to flared trousers? No way!

Yep! I remember it clearly.

I was 13 years old and water skiing on Barren River Reservoir lake in Kentucky on a hot July day. It was Sunday, July 20. We were all very aware of the moon landing scheduled for that day and of the historical implications of the feat. So we wrapped up our skiing day early enough to get back home and to the TV's to watch it all unfold.

'I was being lured with Arrowroot cookies to make a poop in the pot' Yep Taurus, that would be about right, and patently, you have continued to to speak, think, and seemingly write that poop ever since.

Being so feckin sure of yourself, holier than though, and obviously such an expert, a great good 'ole U S of A 'I have a dream' believer, you of course cannot, and will not answer any of the salient points. Point 4 for instance. Read that again. Think about it.....100,000 miles further than ever before. 100,000. Sounds incredulous doesn't it? Thats because it is. When Roger Bannister did the 4 minute mile, the next person to do it didn't do it in 3 minutes dead, it was 3 mins 59, and so on, gradual improvements. The same applies here. The NASA numbnuts, even with your breathtaking arrogance, wouldn't have attempted such a feat.

Point 3 is in a similar vein, mans curiosity, and greed, would not have allowed the feat to go unmatched, to this day. The financial argument is irrelevant. History is littered with people paying extraordianary amounts of money to do things, due to pure greed, arrogance, of just for the gung ho ability to be able to do it.

Now, back to 2. The tv feed was this way as NASA used semi slow motion photography to cover up the fact that the astronauts only jumped 18" high, when the physics PROVE the astronauts should have been able to jump circa 6 feet high.

By contrast, the still photos were stunning. Yet that's just the problem. The astronauts took thousands of pictures, each one perfectly exposed and sharply focused. Not one was badly composed or even blurred

The cameras had no white meters or viewfinders. So the astronauts achieved this feet without being able to see what they were doing. There films were unaffected by the intense peaks and powerful cosmic radiation on the Moon, conditions that should have made it useless. They managed to adjust their cameras, change film and swap filters in pressurized suits. Impossible...

Every Apollo mission before number 11 (the first to the Moon) was plagued with around 20,000 defects a-piece. Yet, with the exception of Apollo 13, NASA claims there wasn't one major technical problem on any of their Moon missions....

Grissom, a NASA astronaut who baited the Apollo program, was due to pilot Apollo 1 as part of the landings build up. In January 1967, he hung a lemon on his Apollo capsule (as you know, unroadworthy cars are called lemons) and told his wife Betty: "If there is ever a serious accident in the space program, it's likely to be me."

Nobody knows what fuelled his fears, but by the end of the month he and his two co-pilots were dead, burnt to death during a test run when their capsule, pumped full of high pressure pure oxygen, exploded.

Scientists couldn't believe NASA's carelessness - even a chemistry students in high school know high pressure oxygen is extremely explosive. In fact, before the first manned Apollo fight even cleared the launch pad, a total of 11 would be astronauts were dead. Apart from the three who were incinerated, seven died in plane crashes and one in a car smash. Now thats a pretty mad accident rate.

So smart fella, answer a couple of these then, and answers please, not just yah, thats carp, I believe.....

1) One NASA picture from Apollo 11 is looking up at Neil Armstrong about to take his giant step for mankind. The photographer must have been lying on the planet surface. If Armstrong was the first man on the Moon, then who took the shot?

2) The Lander weighed 17 tons yet the astronauts feet seem to have made a bigger dent in the dust. The powerful booster rocket at the base of the Lunar Lander was fired to slow descent to the moons service. Yet it has left no traces of blasting on the dust underneath. It should have created a small crater, yet the booster looks like it's never been fired.

Thats before we even go into the huge problems with circa 25% of the photgraphs. All good, hard, proven facts chap, but as your are a journo, and so sure of yourself, why let a load of facts get in the way of what you think is right heh?

Heard about it just after it happened, then a short time (a couple of weeks later) later, I was able to read a full color story about it in Life Magazine. I was very proud to be an American and can remember looking up at the Moon and thinking....."One of OUR guys is up there walking around"....I was just beginning my first, "Soldier's tour of duty" in Vietnam and there were other ....more immediate.... concerns.

11, watching all of the 36 hours of Walter Kronkite on B & W TV. Totally enthralled by the historical event. Moved me to adapt & expand the short novel I was writing then to weave space travel into the spy-vs-spy, good-vs-evil yarn I was crafting on my Remington office typewriter. Saved the newspapers for several years for my future grandkids, but someone in college swiped them so I lost that.

Watched it on a B&W TV at a family friend's house. (in Fairport, NY) They woke me up in the middle of the night to see it happen. Don't remember too much of it... (I was 10 at the time.)

well lets think this out for a moment. if i remember right I was sitting in front of the tv watching it and sitting with my GF at the time making plans for my birthday coming up in a couple of weeks. I was sitting in the college dorm room with her and six other people at the time. If I remember correctly I was 18.

I was four years old. We had a black and white TV.

I was recently talking to my kids about watching shows on B &W. With a straight face my daughter asked, "when did the world become color?"
