Alexis, the insanity quote comes from a Mr. Einstein, "Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results." Indeed, a very quoteworthy individual.. a couple more good ones from him:

"Everything is determined, the beginning as well as the end, by forces over which we have no control. It is determined for insects as well as for the stars. Human beings, vegetables or cosmic dust, we all dance to a mysterious tune, intoned in the distance." - Einstein

and

"It is a miracle that curiosity survives formal education." - Einstein

Cartman, the quote your father used was from another quoteworthy individual: Mark Twain.. a few more from Mr. Clemens:

"Giving up smoking is the easiest thing in the world. I know because I've done it thousands of times." - Twaiin

"I have no color prejudices nor caste prejudices nor creed prejudices. All I care to know is that a man is a human being, and that is enough for me; he can't be any worse." -Twain

and

"Travel has no longer any charm for me. I have seen all the foreign countries I want to except for heaven and hell, and I have only a vague curiosity as concerns one of those." -Twain

I'm more into music, so I think I'll just use some lyrics...
might not mean much but here's some of my favorites...

"Death makes angels of us all and gives us shoulders smooth as ravens' claws" - Jim Morrison

"Knowledge is a deadly friend if no one sets the rules" - Robert Fripp

"Strangers walking in the street, by chance two separate glances meet and I am you and what I see is me. So do I take you by the hand, and lead you through the land, and help me understand the best I can...." - Pink Floyd

"We’re.. to young to fall asleep
To cynical to speak
We are loosing it, can’t you tell? " - Thom Yorke

I don't know who said this, but I heard it from my father..probably the one thing that has helped over the years.
"Alwyas listne to everyone....even a fool knows something you don't."
It has proven itself to be true everytime.

This one sticks with me: "No matter how good you are at something, there is always somebody else that can do it better than you" This is one that the old man drilled into my head as a child. I think I'm a bit of a perfectionist as a result of it...

"Let's get down to brass tacks here: how much for the ape?" Johnny Depp in Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas

Not sure if I posted this one at this site yet or not but its a good one. Winston Churchill's response to a woman accusing him of being drunk:
"Yes I am. And your ugly. But tomorow I'll be sober"

"Put all your eggs in one basket -- and watch that basket" -Albert Einstein
I'm quite sure I've already posted that last one here. Who cares though?

BAH! Okay last one I promise. Anybody with experience studying theory and performing labs will agree with this one.

*Everyone has a Song to Sing*

"But each of us must find out for himself or herself what their gift is, so that they can use it in their life."
--Jimmy Jackson, OJIBWAY

*Learn from YOUR Mistakes*

"The old people say, `Learn from your mistakes'. So I try to accept everything for what it is and to make the best of each situation one day at a time."
--Dr. A.C. Ross (Ehanamani), LAKOTA
The Creator did not design us to beat ourselves up when we make mistakes. Mistakes are our friends. It is from mistakes that we learn. The more mistakes we learn from, the faster we gain wisdom. The faster we gain wisdom, the more we love. The more we love, the fewer our mistakes. Therefore, mistakes help us to learn love. God is love. Mistakes are sacred and help us learn about God's will for ourselves.
