Posted: 8/9/2008 2:34:14 AM | Ok... I'm single because i have not been socialized in the realm of dating men. Previously I've dated and only have been with women for most of my life and after a less than amicable separation it was time to trade sides.
I don't know how to flirt, I don't know how to show interest.... I think people like to look at me like the "fuk'n'chuk" variety.
This isn't a sob story .. but a fact.
Got any pointers for someone who feels like they're in an awkward stage of their life? | |

Posted: 8/11/2008 9:34:18 PM | I haven't met a girl that I've been attracted to since the start of university (and I'm a totally different person now)... sure I've come across countless "date-able" people, but I haven't really clicked with anyone... except this girl I talk to online, but she lives a zillion miles away!
I'd rather be alone than have a girlfriend "just for the sake of having one", "to get some", or for all of the other wrong reasons. People in it for the wrong reasons never last. Besides, I'm enjoying my life far too much to really worry about it...
...of course, if I didn't want to eventually meet someone, I wouldn't be here now would I? At this point being single isn't a choice as much as it is just the status quo. I'm happy and complete on my own, but I'd like someone to hold onto =) | |

Posted: 11/11/2008 9:08:43 AM | I have a multitude of reasons for being single, depending upon how far back you want to go. It began after a hard marriage breakup; then the reason changed to my not looking since I was too busy being a single mom; after that came the realization that I wasn't emotionally mature enough to enter another relationship; and now (several years older) it's simply that I'm used to being alone...and the fact that I haven't met anyone in years now who comes close to piquing my interest. (Also intermixed in the earlier years were many *self* issues.)
So while I'm not closed to the idea of a relationship, I'm also not really looking. I kinda like my own company now too, which helps. C'est la vie...

Posted: 11/23/2008 8:44:00 PM | There is a HUGE difference between being single and being alone. I would rather be single then in a bad or relationship.
I have friends, I have my animal companions I have a crazy family that loves me, I am not alone :)
And when the right person for me comes along and I am the right person for them, I will no longer be single. however I will still choose on some occasions to do things entirely on my own :)
