Lavalife recently announced they are going to stop advertising in the usa and focus on Canada, I suspect that is mostly because plentyoffish. Plentyoffish has over 20,000 unique people logging into the site from just ontario every single day, all other sites mentioned don't even signup that many people per year. | |

I only post when I have something to say, which admittedly isn't much lately. All the threads seem to end up in inane flirtation between one or two members, someone getting offended and storming off, or kudos to each other about how great they are. Yick.. I've never encountered so many lovey-dovey people in my life 
But OT: Even though I have had greater success on Lava, I hardly use it anymore. Too expensive, and there isn't really a high turnover of people on there. It's the same people on there now as half a year ago. Didn't like em then, ain't gonna start now  | |

But anyways when performing a search for say "Search Type" or "Body Type" you can only select one search parameter and not multiples? And another thing, when you enter location, you can specify a city but it always goes out of the city you want to search. On Lava you can search that exact city or a certain distance from a postal code. | |

I find your ads unobtrusive., A good thing as in your face pisses me (and others) off. You actually could do more ads as I know in order for this to be kept "Free" you need to pay the bills.
Unless you won the lottery you need some coin too.
The search could be a little more specific. I have tried the interests and I seem to find more guys. maybe I'm doing something wrong but I stopped using it.
I've also noticed lately that when I click on a particularly pleasing picture in my email inbox I find a women looking for another women. OK fine. Oh hey there is another fine specimen. Click on that. What? Another women looking for a women. Hmmmmm try that one. Damn same thing! How does the filter work? Click on someone Bi and all the rest are too? Ummmm I'm like most guys and would like the 3sum thing but I need to find a women for me first! LOL
All in all I think you have the best site pay or not. I like that we can email (and get unread and deleted!) and forums (and flamed!) for no money down and no montly payments.
Someone said when it comes to pay sites "Quality over Quanity". What? ***holes don't have credit cards? Some of the biggest abusers of women I've every met made mucho denero!
Yes some Joe Sixpack does too but he can't afford the weasel attorney to keep it quiet.
Another thing I like is the how you have gone out of your way to promote the POF parties.
We have to talk about that! LOL I thought it would be a good idea. Silly me!
The regional parties are a good thing. I also notice that a great many people are willing to travel great distances to come to these events. I think it is because of the comarderie that has happened in the forums. Yes we get cliques. Doesn't everything? Even your church does!
I'm a mason and we do too! Bad? Why would I want to spend time with someone I had nothing in common with? I'll be the perfect gentleman when ever we meet, thats just good manners. But hey he probably doesn't want to see me either. Thats life. My ex's don't want to see me too! LOL
If I was to give you a grade on this site I'd give you a B+. You have great potential and have shown some amazing results but you still need some work in a few areas. Maybe by asking these questions of your "Clients" you can become the best site in the world.

2. If you click on a profile and see a women seeking women all images on the top of the profile are of women seeking women. Unless your logged into the site then they go off your settings.
3. Searching my interest only works off the advanced search.
I've talked to some former senior exec's at lavalife and they say that all the money is made in the adult section. Guys spend hundreds a month to message every girl in sight.
Lavalife spends $5 million USD a month in advertising, about 40% of their revenues come from online. Date.ca a division of americansingles.com is doing a 80 million USD $ IPO soon. There is a big battle for marketshare coming, if nothing changes within 6 months plentyoffish will be the largest canadian dating site by far.. Right now we are close to even with lavalife. | |

I was on LL and would not waste any more cash... I like this site because of the forums... You can read what others are thinking and dealing with... Makes online dating more interesting... LL was boring and too many perverts IMO.

I even have a great one in the works myself in Hamilton next month. Its a great place to throw a POF bash, soon as I get back to my cohosts we'll be posting a thread.
We could use a few more T-shirts out here and ones to fit Men might be a great thing. After all we do exist. Also if your independantly wealthy you might look into temporary tatoos, and flags we could attach to the windows of our cars when we convoy to out of town partys. We could use a couple large banners, we could send them around to the partys to help get the addy out to those who don't know POF exists. Though Im doing the best I can to change that.
Oh and could you make me a consultant, I could write off my fuel. Okay thats a little much. Just keep up the great work and get your ass out here. Just something to think about. | |

Also, it has a 'friendly' less intimidating feel, which i think attracts more sincere people than most dating sites.
Obviously, being free is a major contributor to the effectiveness of this site.

Creter...well...all I can say is he still has the original POF Party pass from the first event. And has placed more miles on his vehicle other than a posty.

One thing I found and maybe I was wrong, but the 1st week of sign up BEFORE you decide if you are going to be a paying member...you get tons of contact from some seriously hot ppl that you cant reply to unless you get a mambership. (ok yes, I confused myself here)

I spent a lot of money there and have met people who spent a lot of money as well. I do find Lava very user friendly but like anything...as you get used to it, it becomes comfortable. The one feature I find about lava that I have not been able to find here is the ability to block someone before they message you....(I have seen profiles on lava of people I know and did not want to hear from them, so blocked them before it became an issue ... just something personal) There are a few profiles I have come across on here of the same nature...someone I know that I have had 'issues' with and do not want to have any contact with them. I wish I could block them upfront.
Like a lot of people, I use plenty of fish while I am at work. I wish the IM window would not pop up. There are times when I have to reduce the PoF because I am discussing something with my boss or have someone in my office and the IM window pops up..it can be embarrassing.
I have yet to meet anyone from here but I will tomorrow as I am going to the party at the Fox and the Fiddle...something that Lava never arranged for it's members, the ability to make get togethers.
And one more thing...PLENTY OF FISH IS FREE!!!!! And these forums....they are awesome! | |
