When I got hooked up with POF, what a difference. So easy to fallow along,
for the most part.
Still exploring new things on this site.

I have met a few fishes here some wierd but all fun. Hope to met lots of new ppl and friends here and at alot of the POF partys. I even caught a few my self.

POF is more of a "meeting friends and hangout" type of site... it's always the same people... and it's a haven for specific types... Lavalife on the other hand because they charge money, they advertise, and they have a really good web team. and there's all kinds of women, from all ages and walks of life... and there's always new people signing up. Sorry to say it, while I really like POF, I think lavalife is a far more superior dating site. | |

They also seem to be a bit more serious about wanting to find and meet someone on that site.. while here on plentyoffish they like to chat alot.. lol I do like the forums though.
But, I've always a firm believer in using whatever tools are at your disposal and I'm happy to be on this site as well. It all boils down to meeting that special someone and it doesn't matter if it happened on this site or that one :) | |

I had somewhere between 20 and 30 dates from lava in just under a year on there. It's where I met my girlfriend.
New to this site, and really this site seems to be more about forums, group activities and less about dating....
For the ladies that want to try lava, put a profile up, and you will never have to buy credits...LOL
I agree it seems to be more for the serious people looking to hook up with someone, instead of the group atmosphere here. But the forums and discussions here are a treat. | |

It's unorganized a compplete mess with ads everywhere and in-consistent in contents per page and navigation. Sure it's free I guess that's what we have to suffer with. Lavalife isn't free but the layout and organized features and consistency (menu bars etc..) is very nice for me as a user to use. I still put up with all the problems this site has because it's free. It would be 100% better if POF had a better layout and was easier to navigate around. I don't know how many people i know come to this site and have no idea where the forums are. And felt completly confused in using it. A better forum layout and features would be good also.

43% of all users in canada on plentyoffish have paid for a dating site. That percentage is low because plentyoffish is so big and has brought so many users to online dating. In the USA 68% of all signups have paid for using the site. I'm sure on lavalife they have similar percentages because women never have to pay unless they are unpopular. Hot girls will get hundreds of messages and it costs nothing to reply. | |

You forgot to mention users, abusers, people who wantonly disregard the feelings of others to get what they want. The necessity of a credit card on other sites gives a bit of credibility to the user, it may not be much but better than nothing ... which is why I am registered on another site now in addition to this. And in 2 days have found that men there are very serious ... this site is more like (probably becasue it's free) - a free for all and people are getting hurt. I think if you pay for it you take it more seriously ... | |

This is true of any online dating website, men and women act the same way no matter if its on a free site or a paying one. And saying that someone has a credit card gives them better crediblity is just rather naieve. Credit Cards can be forged, stolen, be used by teenager thats not legally within the age to be on the site, or on a joint account with their wife/husbad. Should he/she be trying to say they are single. The point is you never know, free or paid, the internet can blanket the truth from people at times, but much like all things in life...its gamble one way or the other. | |

I've been doin the lava thing for a while too, meh, nothing to write home about.
I love the forums here, like the vibe around the site, find it easy to navigate and I'm goin to my first POF bash in Oshawa tomorrow night, so that's a big bonus I would never have found that elsewhere. Have been a member here for only 2 months but I feel like I've known some of the folks here for a while already, it's very friendly on many levels.
I was wondering, I heard about this site from a friend, word of mouth so to speak. What is the percentage of people that sign up that way? Seems to me it's quite high.
Good job guys, I love it here.

You spend 30 minutes just filling out registration crap and questions when you first sign up.
Certain simple details on your profile you can not change on your own. You have to email them what you want changed and wait a few days.
You can only reply to messages if you don't pay them.
Thier customer service seriously sucks as well. Thier really nice but they really haven't a clue what thier doing. Not to be insulting to blondes but that is what I actually picture. Some blonde chomping gum going 'I dunno, can you tell me your username and email again I can't seem to find it'
Compared to many dating sites, and trust me I've tried quite a few free and paying. Plenty Of Fish is by far the best one I've tried. I've been enthusiastically advertising it to friends and on my own sites. | |
