| Gas Prices Posted: 9/10/2005 7:29:17 PM | True, supply was not affected. How do you explain the prices rising 40 cents per litre in Canada? I'd like to see 'em blame this one on China!
In southern Ontario, we only got 3 or 4 inches of rain lol. I think it was simply the gas giants taking advantage of the situation. Think about it. . .
The gasoline in a tank under the station was bought and sold for about $1/litre. Natural disaster occurs thousands of kilometers away, in a different country, and the same gasoline in the tank now costs $1.35/litre!? Did our rigs and refineries blow up or something???
I love it when fuel costs almost $6 US per gallon in the UK yet it is only 14 CENTES PER GALLON in Venezuela! -CNN
Something's fishy here. . .

| Gas Prices Posted: 9/10/2005 8:46:00 PM | Who owns all the Big Company ..Canadian Gas stations... like Shell ?
The smaller stations will follow, and hike their price too.
The supply of refined gas has been, and will continue to be affected for awhile.

unless there is a posting here of someone who is with OPEC,..OR OWNS A REFINERY OR OIL WELLS,...it's all opinion,...mine your anyone elses,...good,..bad,... or stupid,...
that's the great thing about theories,...anyone can have one and it doesn't make it right,... or even wrong,...
You make a serious error in suggesting that all theories are equal. A theory has value to the extent that it can explain the past and predict the future. A theory which does that well is more valuable than one which does not.
People who loudly support bad theories are generally known as "cranks".

| buy more beer. Posted: 9/12/2005 7:23:47 PM | | I remember in the early 70's gas was 28 cents a gallon and rent on an apartment was $60 a month and our light bill was $8.00 a month. I can't believe the increase in energy costs. | |

| buy more beer. Posted: 9/13/2005 12:26:33 AM | Simply forcing manufacturers to put goveners on all new cars and legislate it for ALL cars within 10 years would force gas/oil consumption down. Do we REALLY need all those horses under the hood? Most of us don't...it would cut speeding down, less "high speed " crashes, and chases...making all the roads safer. If California can legislate emissions, why can't they do the same for speed? It can be done.
As far as my earlier post about having enough oil for 10,000 years at current consumption, etc, I stand by that. Do your homework, I won't.
Southland Corp owns half the largest oil field in S.A. (your good old 7-11 company...yep....)
Oh....marketing strategy.....dollar a liter was "too high" to pay....nobody would pay that....so the companies backed off for a bit....then they bump it BIG time, and everyone breathes a sigh of relief when the price goes back DOWN to 1.20 a liter? Hmmm....seems this strategy has been used before...remember when smokes were 8 bucka pack, and wnet down to almost 4? Right back up there, aren't they? LOL....yep...gullible public....lead by the nose by the corporations.
Time for the gov't to actually be a VOICE for the people. Nationalize the energy sources in the country, no more privatized, and force the prices down.

I agree. This used to be a bad idea because we had gas wars where companies would compete and you could find quite a variance in prices. This is not happening anymore though so it would be a good idea to knock out privatized.

| GAS PRICES!!! Posted: 9/13/2005 11:32:48 PM | | It got down to 1.19 a liter here.....seems they have broken the dollar a liter psychological barrier, and will be pushing on. Dang! Home heating is gonna be a real problem this year...oil way up, natural gas way up, and hydro looking to increase their rates...sheesh...as if they don't make enough selling to the States! | |

| GAS PRICES!!! Posted: 9/14/2005 12:18:28 AM | | I do not like the gas prices at all. We Americans have to pay more that means less travel. Now I am seeing gas prices are comming down slowly everyday. But that happened before then all suddin it went up again. Its $2.69 here in Iowa. Highest that I saw was $3.06. That's is expsensive!! | |
