I'm not trying to be an ass, but it's better I address it constructively than have someone counter-snark you!

| Tatoos on a women turn on or turn off Posted: 12/16/2006 6:23:55 PM | When my husband died I had a artist draw his name in a distinctive design. I had it tattooed on my lower back in black ink. It is very private, and personal for me. At the time I felt so numb at his loss.. it was a way to feel the pain I should have felt. That was three years ago. I am now fifty.. chances are my grand children, if I ever have any, will never see my tattoo unless I choose to show them.
Great tattoo artists do beautiful work. I think nothing is sexier than the full body asian tattoos. If the person who chooses the tattoo does not take the time to choose wisely, they may regret their choice. But, no one I have ever known who has tattoos has ever expressed their regret.

| Tatoos on a women turn on or turn off Posted: 12/16/2006 8:26:19 PM | I personally do not like to see women with a lot of tattoos showing, it looks gaudy to me, sorry girls. But if well placed and hidden when dressed up, then I'm for it. Matter of fact I got my one and only tattoo at age 42, sort of a freedom present to me.
I feel it's for my man to admire

| Tatoos on a women turn on or turn off Posted: 12/17/2006 5:06:31 AM | I have ink. There is deep meaning to my tattoo. If strangers ask what it means (as they often do) they will not get the answer they search for. I just tell them some random story. My tattoo is almost religious. I know that sounds corny. But alas it is that meaningful for me.
I think someday when my grandchildren ask me what my tattoo means and why I had it done. I will tell them the story and they will have a deeper understanding of me and maybe of life a little more.
Tattoos tell a story i think. They may also just be there because the art just looks hot. You may just like the tattoo as a form of art. Whatever the reason you have the ink, its your reason.
I think the bottom line is that, if you dont like it, then it doesnt necessarily mean you dont like the person.
Peace out

| Tatoos on a women turn on or turn off Posted: 12/17/2006 4:27:32 PM | So far I have seen on this thread those for, those opposed, those defending and those who are definitely getting a good laugh out of the all the above. I have two daughters who are highly educated and they sport tattoos. Both on their middle backs between the shoulders. They designed their own and the tattoos have deep meaning in their lives. the ideas behind the tattoos are related to their professions and beliefs in life. I leave it to them to decide what to do with their lives and their bodies now that they are adults. I personally am not into tattoos on myself for several reasons. I have seen patients who achieved old age and they have mixed feelings about what they did in their youth concerning their tattoos. Gravity is unkind to us as we get older and tattoos will shrink and distort and travel south. So much for great ideas! Many say they did it when they were drunk and regretted it afterwards. We have heard all the stories..... I see many wonderful and beautiful tattoos on younger people. People who still have great bodies, great looks and all those traits that we all would like to keep but that eventually desert us. I also see too many young women who are over weight, dressed poorly, and who do all the wrong things thinking they are beautiful to others. I don't know where they get their examples from but I am not impressed. Yes, they do give off the impression of being what is refered to as "trailer trash", "white trash", etc., and I think all of you can understand what I am saying here. It isn't where they live but the fact that many people who come from poor and under educated backgrounds live in poorer housing and do have poor taste in what they wear or sport on their bodies. Now, for my personal view........I feel sorry that those young girls think that the tattoo in bold colors and copy cat ideas look good on their fat, pale skinned, outer ankles, boobs hanging out of low cut tops, lower backs exposed above jeans that are too small and tight. It isn't sexy or beautiful or tasteful. The majority of those girls are unmarried, living off the system, dragging several small dirty or under clothed children around and smoking cigarettes. And the pattern repeats itself with each generation in their family. You all know the girls I am talking about.....the girls in Wal-mart that are yelling at their kids to shutup as they themselves are throwing junk food into their carts and then paying for it with food stamps. A good education goes a long way! So, it isn't the pain or the fear that keeps some people from doing it, it is all in what they have learned or what their religion dictates to them. It is still up in the air as to what those who sport tattoos have exposed themselves to that is in the ink. I am refering to the composition of the inks. And so, until we know all that there is to know about the entire subject, I will refrain from tattoos and sit back and view it as either really great and beautiful artwork or as distasteful, ugly and nasty looking graffiti. Merry Christmas & Happy New Year to everyone! | |

| Tatoos on a women turn on or turn off Posted: 12/18/2006 9:31:31 PM | | Tatoos are not only ugly on a woman, they are played out and cliche' on anybody. Why not make your mind more interesting, and let your skin breathe free. I may feel this way because both my parents are inked-up bikers, and my Dad got drunk and tried to force a tat on me when I was 16. But, I stand by my opinion. | |

| Tatoos on a women turn on or turn off Posted: 12/21/2006 5:06:41 AM | | If a women has tatoos, it can work either way for me...If it is a tribal on the small of her back; it is trendy, unoriginal, cheesey, and unattractive. However, if a woman has a number of tats, each with a unique meaning, visible or not, it is HOT! A good looking girl walking into a room wearing a beautiful gown and a full-sleave tatoo, that is so sexy.... | |

| Tatoos on a women turn on or turn off Posted: 12/22/2006 3:52:11 AM | I'm with you Lusty Leece. I too have ink on my body, but it holds significance to me in a very spiritual manner. I have run in crowds of people from one side of the spectrum to the other and have been complimented by both. Of course I have parents, who like some of you, can't believe that I would put those things on my body because "when you get old they are going sag"... hee hee hee, "so, is everything else-in case you forgot" I say.
I believe that my biggest accomplishment in life is not shadowed by the tattoos, and the people who actually take the time to get to know me -love me for the real me. Which, by the way, has NOTHING to do with my body-this is merely a shell that holds the real BEAUTY. My goal on this experience level is get past the good compliments of others and to fully leave my attachment to a physical body behind. This is not WHO I am by any stretch of the imagination. To think that someone would pass me over, or call me a whore, cheap, uneducated, unoriginal, a follower, tasteLESS, etc. is about as ignorant as defining me by the color of my skin, or my sex.
I fully understand that people have likes and dislikes, turn ons and turn offs, AND I thought this was how the forum began... however, someone trying to find out if this is a turn off will have to wade through a myriad of judgmental lashings to find what they are seeking.
My opinion is the following: Be who you are, grow to feel comfortable in the skin that you have, and the decisions you make. A person who is truly comfortable in their body IS beautiful no matter what they look like...it's an animal like quality that attracts others. When you lug around skin that doesn't feel right and you constantly ask others if it looks alright, or put others down to feel better- you will never get the deep satisfaction of the true beauty that you truly possess.- Just my opinion...

| Tatoos on a women turn on or turn off Posted: 12/23/2006 3:32:33 PM | I don't mind seeing tattoos on a woman. But women have to realize, BEFORE THEY GET TATTOOED, that the illustrations are going to be permanent. They may fall for a guy and it may turn out that he doesn't like them. If they love the guy, they may consider having them removed.
How much does that cost?: Simple answer: $1,000. per square inch! That's the current cost. In a few years it could be much higher. Most tattoos are about two square inches. However, if the tattoos are large, or if there are a lot of smaller tattoos, you might have to mortage the house to get rid of them.
How do they remove them. Currently it appears that the most popular method is by the use of a laser. They, literally, burn the skin off. It works; but there's a down side (other than the cost). The area where the tattoo was never tans in the sun. So women who have a lot of tattoos removed end up looking like a leopard if they spend a lot of time in the sun. A laser burn is just like any other burn.
How is the tattoo going to look as a person ages and the skin starts to wrinkle? How is it going to look when the colours start to fade? If most women thought about all of the pros and cons BEFORE they got the tattoos, some of them might decide to pass on the idea.
Forget about the notion that they guy you're with is going to pay to have them removed. It isn't fair to even consider that possibility. You probably had them before he came along.

| Tatoos on a women turn on or turn off Posted: 12/23/2006 3:48:53 PM | you want to know why because when you meet some one who you love you want him to know how much he means to her so i have two small hearts over my boobs to let him know he is my man and im his and when we make love he can see im his woman always love him. | |

| Tatoos on a women turn on or turn off Posted: 12/23/2006 3:52:55 PM | I don't mind a bit of ink tastefully placed and done well with a meaning behind it. I have one tat on my upper arm and after 10 years I like it just as much as I did the day I got it. It has meaning to me and is an artistic expression of myself. It was not something picked of the wall at the tat shop but something that has been a big part of my life and always will be. Yes, if you look at my profile you will see it and that I am a herpetocultural freak as some have put it. Neither a turn off or turn on for me but as I said above OK when done well and for the right reason. | |

| Tatoos on a women turn on or turn off Posted: 12/24/2006 7:05:04 AM | | Masher: Actually you are off the mark ,there is no burning involved with laser tattoo removal, pulses of light from the laser are directed onto the tattoo breaking up the tattoo pigment. Also, the price has come down considerably, most Dermatologists will tell you that the better the artist (the more evenly the ink was layered) the easier the removal will be (go figure). | |

| Tatoos on a women turn on or turn off Posted: 12/24/2006 6:25:04 PM | I like most tattoos on women, as long as they aren't too big and in places that can't be covered up if the social setting requires it.
I don't understand why some people put tatts on their neck. That one is crazy to me and sounds like something pimps do to their hookers.

Ya, I have seen these women with bar codes on their necks, always wanted to scan one and do a price check.

| Tatoos on a women turn on or turn off Posted: 12/26/2006 2:56:33 PM | Any woman who tattoos herself has very little chance of getting in a career past that of Walmart Checkout Girl. It looks skanky plain and simple. Especially the ones on the arms and breasts. I mostly blame parents who are now allowing girls in High School to ruin their bodies. It should be illegal until a person reaches the age of 21.
Tattoos tell a story i think.
They sure do......But not the one you think they do....
