Posted: 9/7/2005 12:39:00 PM | I'm not much into horror flicks, but I DO enjoy movies that F#%K with people's heads !!!!!!! Gonna ramble on here a bit - I saw the Monkees' "Head" on AMC a few years back & REALLY LIKED IT !!!
Can understand why it wasn't a hit at the box office wen it came out (Micky Dolenz said somewhere that he thought it was because it "had an 'R' rating" - Micky must have been smokin MAJOR
"certain green leafy" substances, cause after the ratings board was created in late '68, "Head", along with "Yellow Submarine" were amongst the first flicks to receive A 'G' RATING !!!  ).
I got into an argument with some moron about "Vanilla Sky" - he hated it due to his lack of attention-span - I told him I LOVED IT, EXACTLY BECAUSE he hated it LOLOLOLOLOL !!!!!!!!!
Tarantino, Gilliam & Burton are great directors when it comes to these types of movies - great to see all the mentions of their flicks - Robert Rodriguez is another favorite (This Guy MADE "El Mariachi" for LESS than $8000 bucks - WOW !!!!!!!).
Have to name 3 here, that I didn't see mentioned (unless I missed seeing 'em elsewhere): "Fight Club", "Memento" & "Altered States"(I didn't do "drugs" when Altered States came out, but I swear to god I FELT LIKE I was on "SOMETHING" after seeing it in the theatre the first time !!!!).
One last one I wanna mention:
there's a flick with Matthew Modine in it that came out several years back - for the life of me, I CAN'T remember the name of it, but Modine plays "twins" here - not so much under this topic, but the ending was a stunner !

Most disturbing scene Perry (lead singer) comes home to find his wife dead in the living room from a heroine overdose. His voice serves as a narration "what would you do if you came home and found your wife dead?? Would you call the cops so they could take her away forever" he then proceeds to disrobe her and take her to the shower (to keep her warm) and they have sex. He then dresses her in the gown she wore for their wedding sets up a memorial all around her and then calls the cops.... | |
