| the most twisted movie ever made Posted: 12/31/2005 2:49:19 AM | | I just saw this Japanese movie called Ishii the Killer. Not only was it one of the strangest movies I've ever seen but one of the most violent. It's about this teenage boy who's been brainwashed into killing Yakuza, under the delusion they once bullied him. It's kinda complex. It makes Tarantino's films seem like Disney movies. The directors last name is Miike and apparently he's done a lot of films but this is the only one I've seen so far. | |

Actually, just about anything by Takashi Miike is horrific... Audition, Gozu, Ichii, Dead or Alive, Visitor Q, Full Metal Yakuza, City of Lost Souls, Rainy Dog, Fudoh... just get hold of his films, if you like twisted movies they are incredible.
Failing that get hold of any of the Babycart series, lots of ninjas, hacked off limbs and a samurai executioner with a baby in a cart...

I don't think Cronenberg has ever made a film I didn't dig, though. Saw "Spider" recently - not his best film, but it has some beautiful little moments.
Also, I'm with Joy and a few others with Peter Greenaway in general and The Cook, etc. specifically - it has one of my absolute favorite lines of all time in it: "Try the c***, at least you know where it's been." ooohhh.
Track 29 is an old favorite. Never listen to Lennon's "Mother" without thinking of it. Also recently liked Willard. Crispin Glover is always fun.

I can't remember if the movie begins with him crawling out of the pot. It showed up on tv a few times in the mid-eighties, always in the middle of the night (probably chanel 57).

| the most twisted movie ever made Posted: 1/2/2006 10:24:17 AM | Requeim for a Dream was an excellent exploration into the whole crisis of addictions, and it showed that addiction doesn't just affect junkies. Excellent movie. Fear and Loathing was nothing but eye candy. Read Hunter S Thompson's other books, and you'll realize that his book "Hell's Angels" would have been a much better, and stranger movie. Even Fear and Loathing on the Nixon Trail would have been better. Cannibal Holocaust was truly demented, in a league of it's own. Miike's works are comparable, but the most oddball movie I've seen lately, (not to be compared to Cannibal Holocaust) was The Devil's Rejects. That movie was just f*cking warped.
I found it hard to keep track of for a little bit, but what a weird movie...

| the most twisted movie ever made Posted: 1/2/2006 11:17:21 AM | In my skin.. I believe its called, I can take a lot but this movie had a chick pulling her skin off and eating it... don't get me wrong it was instersting it just made me feel a bit ill.
I hated Gummo! I can't watch it because it pissed me off, the part with the cat looks much to real and when it comes to animals I just can't take it. I have every other Larry Clark movie though .. including ken park... which is basicaly just leagal teen porn... Bully and Kids are amazing though

| the most twisted movie ever made Posted: 1/2/2006 1:38:52 PM | I love this thread...I am renting every movie you are mentioning.
My tops for twisted are:
-Elephant (Columbine Killings) -Rabbit Proof Fence (Slavery of Australian Indigenous People) -Serpeant and the Rainbow (Vodun AKA Voodoo) -In the Realm of the Senses (Sex and Beyond with a Geisha...not for the Sqeemish)
The preceding are all based upon real-life events, which to me, makes it wayyyyy worse.
Requiem for a Dream (This was a first date movie I went to see preceding dinner, which never took place)
"H" (Another about the greatness of Heroine...yikes)
But some of the most distrubing are produced by FAMEFAME (Jubal Brown, Tazman Richardson et al) Do a Google search and you can find their work:
They claim: FAMEFAME exists for the production and promotion of the aggressive, intense and volatile. Our aim is to promote an immediacy, that transcends the physical means of the work itself, threatening the boundaries of video, sculpture, performance and event arts, audio and music, generating new strategies for culture making.
They truly do!! | |
