For me it was about freedom of choice, the right to be who I wanted to be. Yes, we were a little violent when taking a stand against the government, and big box business. It was not about sex or drugs for me, I was all about freedom of choice, not being taxed to death, and preserving the planet. I am glad to have had that experience in my life. I have seen about 60 shows in the last 15 years and have permanently ringing ears to show for it. Should have listened to my Mom I guess, turn it down. Bad Religion has been around since the early 80's as well as NOFX and a few others. They were kind of second generation punk after the originals. There are still tons of great bands out there that have started mixing in other genres of music for a cool new sound and originality. If anyone is interested in some names, hit me up and I can give you some good ones. I agree about all the new pop-punk bands selling out to get radio play but if you listen to Blink's first 2 discs, same with Green Day, you will find that they were punk in the beginning. I don't listen to either anymore but saw Blink play the Warped Tour in '97 and it was cool. Not nearly as good as Millencolin or Pennywise but her, just my 2 cents. | |

First 2 or 3 albums are good, but after that they start sounding different and the lyrics are pathetic. I keep around a few punk cd's to listen to every now and then (face to face, pennywise) but don't care about any of the new stuff | |
