I don't see this as someone "replacing" but merely just taking over and reliving the Queen Spirt. I had Admire both Queen and Paul Rodgers, the latter i have loved since i was kid, Bad Company and Free are two of my fave bands. And if you listen to Queen + Paul Rodgers live they are outstanding, bearing in mind PR is a blues and rock singer and FM is a very Operatic singer. Paul Is not trying to be Freddie Mercury, and there was only on Freddie. But stepping into a band of this calibre at the age 59 and still can hold 22 songs a night on tour..think you may want to retract your critism about Paul Rodgers.

Posted: 9/4/2009 9:37:58 PM | | I am a diehard Queen fan but Paul Rogers just absolutely **stardizes every song that Freddie Mercury sang to the point that I want to shoot him for it, it's just an insult to such a great man's legacy as a singer. There are some things musicians should and shouldn't do, anyone doing a Queen song should be smacked for it because they always do it badly.

No one should do a Queen song that Freddie sang on, new material is fine but just singing the classics is awful by any singer on this planet. Singing the works of a vocal legend in a way that Paul Rogers does it which is boring and lame with no energy or enthusiasm is a bad idea. Seems more like it was an attempt to rake in some cash off nostalgic Queen fans more then anything.

Posted: 9/8/2009 12:35:17 PM | | I don't understand why they don't just call the band something new - I mean these days bands form and reform and seem to change the band name each time someone comes and goes. Queen really can't be Queen without Freddie. I'm all for them playing on, but it seems very odd without such a distinctive showman at the front to really be able to call themselves by the same name. How about Princess?

Posted: 9/8/2009 4:21:15 PM | | It's not even all of Queen, just Brian May and the drummer Roger Taylor, John Deacon didn't get involved in such an embarrassing project that brings shame to the band as a whole. The people who seem to actually like the crappy vocals of Paul Rodgers are being nostalgic despite the fact that quite possibly one of the best singers of all time is dead and the knob who replaced him is probably one of the most dry singers with near the energy or vocal range and skill to sing Queen songs well, they just sound boring as hell. Considering they **stardized some of the best songs with hack singers like Pink, Robbie Williams and Britney Spears, I can completely understand why Deacon was pissed off at May and Taylor.

This guy is a blues singer, and how the f**k can you call him dry?..paul rodgers is regarded as one of thee best frontmen around still, he his a regular on Polls, and still can kick the crap out of modern day singers at his age.
Some people should look up the facts before writing sometimes..
I am knocking Freddie..yeah sure the guy is a all-time great, but so his Steve Perry, Paul Rodgers and Eddie Vedder and even John Fogerty.

| Classic rockers Queen + Paul Rodgers unite and tour. Posted: 9/17/2009 9:02:10 AM | | I've listened to their CD, and it's not bad, but like one poster said, it's just not Queen. I don't fault Brian May and Roger Taylor for wanting to keep playing and touring (they're great musicians and should play as long as they want) but I sort of took John Deacon's stance on this. Without Deacon, let alone Freddie, I'm not sure if they're entitled to even still call themselves "Queen," but that's a minor issue for me. | |
