I see you consider yourself informed One post and you have me all figured out right?
I was talking about much YOUNGER women (as in younger then you) going after older men instead of men their own age. 90% of the time it's because they have money and they're successful thus financial power and security. and has very little to do with physical attractiveness (unless he's in VERY good shape for his age) I don't see many 20 year old women hooking up with 45-50 year old truck drivers.

What do you mean by experience? sexual experience? relationship experience? While I'm sure it can be helpful. It doesn't really make or break a person's attractiveness Experience is not a guarantee of anything except experience good or bad.

Posted: 3/24/2007 10:03:04 PM | Age really isnt critical to me.. my wife was 9 years older... but I noticed I TENDED to date my age or older... it mattered more at age 18, when a 2 year difference could represent a profound life experience difference... at age 30, a 2 year difference is not noticeable.

But the down side to that is alot of women just like the younger man mostly because they feel that a younger man has much to learn and they as a woman can take more control.

My name is written right on my post and you still spelt it wrong. and I understand the point just fine. When I speak of older men I don't speak of a 3 or 5 year age difference to me that's not really "older" I speak of women being attracted to men who are 15-20 30 years older. Trust me it usually has very little to do with "life experience" I wasn't bashing her for being divorced there is nothing wrong with that. However I don't appreciate being talked down to and patronized. I may be young but that doesn't make me an idiot. | |

You won't get much support from the women who go after older men (10-15 plus years their senior) because it almost always stems from things that none would want to admit... it's a love for money or power, it's insecurity, or it's a need for attention. Attractive, confident, successful, independent women tend to stay closer to their own age range (or at least own life stage), or even go younger. They don't need someone who can take care of them and they're smart enough and socially active enough to realize that there are a lot of "mature" 30 and 40 somethings out there. I can't imagine I'd ever choose a 60 year old over a 30 year old. But I care more about common interests, lifestyles, life stages, and physical attraction then I do about his position, his house, his car, how well he can "keep" me and if he treats me like a "princess" (does that not scream "father figure"!?!).... So there's my two cents!
And now I must play devil's advocate for a sec (just 'cause I feel like it);

Hem. Maybe if there were men my age who were in the same life stage it would make 35+ men seem less attractive to me. I own a very successful business (read 'pay more in taxes than most people earn') I own one house (and have owned it on my own earning potential since I was 22) and am building another dream house in which I will retire in 20 years (or at 45) I crammed 9.5 years of education into 6 years. I've traveled to 23 different countries and worked in 6 of them. I've immersed myself in numerous cultures. I've settled down in life and know exactly what I want and how I am going to do it.
If you can point me to an attractive 25 yr old male who has all of this, and will be able to retire on his own means in 20 years so we can pursue adventures around the globe, has a similar outlook on life as I do, similar interests, similar taste in varied types of friends, can cook, clean, fix the things around the home that I cannot - or in short be useful and not attempt to live off of me (been there, it seems men my age are more than willing to let a woman do everything and pay for everything) Then I would be happy to meet him.
As it is I am happy with a man who has his act together, takes turns with me on the housework stuff, has an appreciation for inexpensive travel (or avoiding those awful tourist resorts) Can keep up with me on my activities, has activities of his own he has introduced me to, understands that sometimes we must meet in the middle if we both are to be satisfied - also understands (as I do) that some things there is no meeting on, and those things are separate from our relationship.
So I am successful, independent, confident and many find me attractive. Men younger than me is a definitive no go, men my own age are not going to be in a similar situation for another 10-20 years. My man has less money than me, so it is not a love for money why I am with him. He is not 'powerful' so I guess that one is out too. Insecure? If wanting someone in a similar stage to myself is insecure, sure - I am insecure in not wanting to be a suga-momma to a bloke my own age. Seeking attention? Hey, I've got one of the hottest fellas around, who keeps me warm and purring :) The only attention I crave is the attention he lavishes on me.
I've heard it from a few of my older women friends (55+) that 40 - 48 or so is just simply the sexiest age for men, the age of men they were always and still are attracted to. I think it is the old enough to have their stuff together in life, and young enough that many (who have looked after themselves) still have the healthy glow of youth. | |

Problem is, you're an outlier so you're not an example of a typical person your age. You also seem to think that while you could accomplish all of this, no man your own age ever could. Sort of unfair to the guys, don't you think? I don't believe you proved nor disproved my point since your experience is not typical.
Let me ask you one thing though. You're only 25. Do you think you'll ever want kids? (Sorry, should have checked to see if your profile addressed that). If you're with an older man (sounds like he might be in his 40's?), what if he doesn't want kids when you're ready because he's too old or he's done with raising children? I think the kid issue is a big factor in this discussion. The sexiest thing about a man to me is seeing him in a father role with his young children. After about 45, you don't get that anymore. However, not all women might care. Personally, I do. I don't really want a man with grown children; they're too close to the grandparent stage (or maybe there already) and I don't find that sexy, at least, not yet.
Ok, so you have children and you don't want anymore I guess. Wow! I have to hand it to you.... not only would it be incredible to accomplish everything you allude to but to do it with children as well! Wow! It's truly hard to believe. Like I said, you're simply an outlier. Your experience is so not typical. | |

Posted: 3/27/2007 4:01:37 PM | I already have the one child I want and am able to have. My guy is 19 years older than me, as stated in a previous post, and not looking for more children. It works, he doesn't want anymore and I cannot have anymore.
I know it is possible for others my age to get where I am. Obviously, I did it. There are not many, and they are just as worried about the material too. Most guys (my age) are insecure with a woman who can throw them around, I've been told that it makes them feel unmanly. A man secure in himself as a person is much more desirable. Sounds materialistic, I know, but I want a man unafraid to sign a prenuptial, and able to accept that I have a life plan I am sticking to, and refuse to wear rose tinted glasses to believe that 'true love' happens without some serious hard work. Infatuation happens, but it is seldom that without a similar life path, experiences and enjoyments that a rosy infatuation can turn into 'true love.'
It was a lot of hard work to get here, but I finished school and owned a house before having my only child I am capable of having. I was 23 for that. I graduated highschool at 15 - puts things into a better perspective to get here so young. | |
