| Why do guys give cell phone numbers instead of home numbers ...is that a clue they are taken? Posted: 7/12/2006 12:39:15 PM | when i moved into my new apartment a few years ago, i discovered it was cheaper for me to get a cell phone package (included the phone and a super cheap rate with free on evenings and weekends) than it was to go with bell (land phone supplier). so, i don't have a choice but to give out my cell phone number as it is all i have. I use my cell phone like a real phone and rarely carry it with me, however.
so, no, in this day and age, wouldn't even worry if someone gave me their cell phone number.

| Why do guys give cell phone numbers instead of home numbers ...is that a clue they are taken? Posted: 7/14/2006 2:15:54 AM | I give out my cell because I can be reached there 95-100% of the time. I have had experiences where they call my home once or twice and I am not there, then they never call back or let me know either. Doesnt anyone leave messeges anymore? It seems sometimes they are to busy and there is so much competition out there they sometimes dont have the patience or time to let me get back. theres always another guy around the corner. Maybe its just me. If it works out and we like each other then its no prob. You can usually tell after the first date. I think its a good idea for both. Ya just never know nowadays. | |

I never give out my home phone number initially. I also don't tell someone where I live or where I work until I've had a chance to meet them face-to-face and assess him and the situation. And it's true, some people do not even have home phone numbers anymore.
The last guy I was involved with - when we first met, we we went thru a mutual "assessment" first - THEN we exchanged home phone numbers, addresses, place of work, etc.... evidence that we were both on the up and up.

| Why do guys give cell phone numbers instead of home numbers ...is that a clue they are taken? Posted: 7/16/2006 2:19:29 PM | I always give out my cell phone number. I am ramerely home and more redily available on my cell. Also I cannot trust that my roommate will always gie me the esage. Ast least with the cell I know I'll get the message.
Men are not the only ones who do this, I have been given several numbrs out here and with the exception of one ihey were always cell phones.
Besides jsut becuase yoiu have a home numbr means nothing. I was ginve a numbr for a lady that was her home number,. I had her work mumber and a cel number, I had also been to her home on several occasions. Only problem was _ i was NOT her hme number t wan't evern HER home - she had a single frind hlepibng her. The phone nnumber and house both belonged to the friend. They presented as roommates so how was I to know. About six months into the r"relationship" a buddy of mies asks "so I guess hse finally left MR> X then" when I asked him what he was talking ablut he informed me she was married, and hgad four chilren. I confronted her aboyt it and sxhe admitted it to me. Let me tell yoiu she wan't married fr long after I talked to ther husband.

One lady wanted me to give her my listed number giving complete personal identification, and refuse to give me hers. So it both ways, and it's fair. Now I know why so many people have unlisted numbers. If I had something to hide it would be unlisted and I could give the lady that number. So by their suspicions, ladies are actually selecting the suspicious guys over the trustworthy ones. As an epidemiologist that is so obvious to me.

Posted: 8/2/2006 12:16:01 AM | I think like alot of people have said before me, for more and more people, their cell phones is their home phone as well as their mobile phone. I get a ton of minutes on my cell phone plan that I don't even come close to using and that includes long distance. If it was'nt for the fact that I need a landline for my DSL, I would'nt even have an activated line. It would be a waste of dough.
So not everybody who just gives out a cell phone number is a Slim Shady
