| Good Beer... Posted: 6/22/2008 9:02:01 PM | I like De Koninck a lot. It's a golden ale brewed in Belgium. Really good, but definitely tastes better on the tap. Poor it in a glass if you get it in the bottle. I like Shiner Hefeweizen if I'm in the mood for a wheat beer. A lot of people put a lemon in it but I have this thing with putting fruit in beer. I used to love it and now I find fruit has no place in beer. And coming from Buffalo I have to give props to Labatt Blue. Straight from our neighbors to the North, thank you Canada. Everyone in Buffalo drinks Labatt. Sometimes it can a little heavy so Blue Light is good too. Red Stripe is tasty. And Dos Equis Amber. Only the Amber. Damn. I want a beer now Cheers | |

| Good Beer... Posted: 6/23/2008 1:44:02 PM | For inexpensive beer I usually drink Labbatt Genuine Draft or Molson Pilsner. When I feel like spending a little more I go for Moosehead or Okanagan Springs. Imports I like Stella Artois or Holsten. | |

| Good Beer... Posted: 6/23/2008 3:32:43 PM | I love Spaten
But I just had the most interesting beer the other night, Blue Moon Belgian White. It had an interesting hint of orange in it. Delicious!
Cheers
Yuengling is delicious, too! I too hope that we can keep the microbreweries in business. They make the best beer of all!
Bud? ICK. Nuff said!! | |

| Good Beer... Posted: 7/1/2008 11:58:58 AM | | Heineken, and something we call Åbro. That´s about as much as I know of beer..hehe..but anything light is fine by me :) | |
|
| Good Beer... Posted: 7/1/2008 1:15:17 PM | | I tend to be a yuengling man when I do drink which isn't that often. I've also found that the bud light with lime is awful in my taste. To each their own though I suppose/ | |

| Good Beer... Posted: 7/28/2008 1:19:59 AM | Back in the day,...growing up, we loved WIEDEMANN BEER,...CARLINGS BLACK LABLE, even PBR tasted pretty good then, nice clean,..with a healthy taste,....
But you couldnt get any better beer than STROHS !
Till they sold the company, changed the Brewery location, and recipie,...now Strohs taste like it has colonge mixed in it.
Now a days,..with a huge, and infinate better selection of brews,..I've found several that I like,...
I'm a fan of everything from Hefeweizen and especially it's close relative Kristalweizen to Pilsner's, Stouts, IPA, Porters, and Pale Ale's
Amen to that,....
I always love a Black and Tan
Yes,....Guinness & Bass,..does make a tasty beverage
Heiniken
While Heiniken used to be the rage of the day,....I've found in comparasion that it is really a "Bitter" beer,....what used to be cool is now out of vogue,....
Now,...the best beer from Holland,...is GROLSH,.....that is TOPS in my book ! (Dont try the "SUMMER BLOND",..by GROLSH,..its horriable)
Carlsberg has always been a fine beer,....
If I'm dining at a local Mexican/TexMex,..I always have some Dos EquisXX,....now thats the stuff,......you can keep your Corona's,....Dos EquisXX beats that hands down.
Its sad that BUDWEISER has such popularity, and at a Premium price,..for something that taste like Kool Aid, compaired to GOOD Beer.....but its valued because its consistant....
Bring back the REAL,.....Fire Brewed STROHS BEER,....and I could die a happy man.

| Good Beer... Posted: 9/6/2008 7:34:37 AM | Dogfish Head 60 Minute IPA. Doesn't get better than that. I keep some in the fridge at all times.
Honestly though, I like most of the micro- and mini-brews, leaning heavily towards ales and 'bitters'.
Buuuutt...If I'm drinking all day long, it's gotta be something weak, like that almost seltzer Coor Light.
|
| Good Beer... Posted: 9/7/2008 7:28:45 PM | Somebody out there ought to try out the Polish beer Zywiec...and the Greek beer Mythos! Yum! Come to think of it, they likely tasted better because we were in Poland and Greece at the time...but damn they were good! | |

| Good Beer... Posted: 9/8/2008 4:27:47 PM | I see a few good beers mentioned here but for the most part, everything posted sucks. if somebody is not posting about cheap american megabrew, they are posting about over priced imports with fancy names. In both cases, it is the marketing selling the beer rather than the taste.
For most people, beer is a modest beverage for the working class. It is easily affordable, as simple to drink as carbonated water. so limited in flavor it is sold as "coldest tasting," in fact consumers need to know nothing at all about beer other than name, and that name is a brand, not a style. For them, beer is a thirst quincher, an after work award, and a social lubricant. And this is exactly what beer has been reduced to in america.

So how does that suck? Unless of course you put a nipple on it silly boy!!!! I don't call that overpriced, or fancy at all. So are you talking old time Pabst Blue Ribbon, and Schliz, and watered down beer, such as the no name brands you can buy at the DOLLAR store? No thanks... I'll stick with the tastes I like simply becasue I like them... They don't need a fancy name, just a good flavor going down..

...................................................................................................................................
But those beers like Michelob, Amber Bach and Killians are not muhc different than schlitz or Pabst. It is all watered down crap by companies like anheuser busch and Miller/Coors.
Do you even know the style of beer you are drinking? It is all the same crap and you learned about them based on the name. It is all the same exact style of beer pretty much with minor differences. Nipple or not. It is still going to suck and taste exactly the same. and even at 2.00 a bottle, your Coors and Anheuser Busch products are severely overpriced.
Real beer is not even meant to be drank from the bottle because it ruins the flavor. Bud, miller and coors products are drank this way and ice cold to hide the lack of flavor. Good beer is supposed to be drank from an open vessel with two fingers of head to unleash the aroma and flavors.
You also say you like the taste of these beers. Well what do they taste like? Beer is supposed to be complex. Believe it or not, beer is actually more complex than wine. This is something that is forgotton about though because of all the junk out there served ice cold to hide the flavor or with a lime to mask the fact that it is skunked.
I will give you an example of the complexity I am talking about. I have picked local beers because the best flavor comes from 'Live' beer which means Unfiltered, unpasturized and fresh. This is something you will not get from even the most expensive of imports. Sorry Chimay fans but unlike your beer, the hops in this beer were not poured from a can either.
Bells Oberon - American Pale Wheat Ale
Pours a relatively clear light orange yellow color. I say relatively clear because there is a good bit of floaties even with a very slow pour to try and avoid them. The head was practically non-existent, but I expected it to be that way with the slow pour so I won't judge it on that. The small ring of bubbles does leave a little lacing as it is consumed. It has a very subtle aroma like many other wheat based beers. The wheat aroma is there as well as an orange citrus aroma with just a hint of spicing. For the style, I really like the aroma. The taste follows the nose. Wheat, orange, and spicing in a very tasty mix. The spice is more than I expected based on the smell. This is a very good tasting beer for the style. It is relatively thin, but expected of this style. The spicing and carbonation give it some interest in the mouth.
New Holland - Sundog Amber Ale - American Amber / Red Ale
Pours a reddish coppery amber with a fluffy almond head that retains for a good miniute or two before leaving behid some patchy lacing. The nose is sweet and smells of banana and hops predominantly, with some faint toasted malt. This Amber Ale seems to have good balance, but leaning slightly more towards the hoppy side for the most part. Some caramely malt sweetness is backed up by some subtle banana flavors.A little pine tree flavor pokes through with some drying bitterness. Pretty average body for the style with some nice taste bud tickling carbonation.
Bells - Porter - American Porter
This beer yields a rich, opaque, dark chestnut body with a cap of fine tan foam. The head reduces to a thin collar that leaves misshapen swatches of lacing on the glass. The smell of the drink is malty with a little dark chocolate. A whiff of coffee lurks underneath. The taste is sweet with plenty of dark, malty, lightly-sweetened chocolate and an astringent touch of black coffee. Dry, earthy finish. Bell's Porter is a bit thin-bodied, but with nice carbonation and good drinkability.
Dragonmead - Final Absolution - Belgian style Trippel
This is the ultimate Belgian style. The very high gravity of this beer is balanced by the smoothness of its finish. Banana and Clove aromas come from the Belgian yeast strain combining with the generous dose of Belgian Candi Sugar. The Saaz hops help to give this beer a balanced bitterness with no noticeable hop aroma.
Now describe your Killians and Micholob beer in a way like I have described these beers.
