Posted: 1/16/2009 6:41:04 PM | When I want to hide from the world is when everybody wants something and no-one wants to wait, but I can go off later and be by myself. I like to go out in the woods by a lake or stream, throw a line with some bait in the water and sit back and look at the sky, and listen to the birds, and the wind.
and ML yer just mean!  I LIKE when people find these old threads!

FAS the trouble is not the supply or keeping up with them, what gets me lonely is trying to be fitted into their busy schedules....gosh the waiting is the hardest part and one gets thinking.....

Posted: 1/16/2009 6:50:19 PM | Reading, painting, talking to the cat, writing my journal, walking, cooking, cleaning............there are many things I like to do when I don't miss the other, basically when I feel like hiding from the world. The world does not give me anything ( other than troubles) that I cannot create on my own, internally.
Alone: one is always alone, there is no escape from that.
Hide? One can easily hide from oneself and the truth as well. How many people in denial do you know? I know many. | |

Posted: 1/18/2009 11:18:38 AM | When I want to be alone and hide from the world I am usually having issues I'm having problems focusing on and difficulties resolving.....so I head to the ocean....I take off my shoes, walk along the water, listen to the tide rolling in or out, smell the salt air and listen to the seagulls. Somehow all of that manages to clear my head, restore my spirit and refresh my soul.....I'm not bombarded with white noise and technology and being the flowerchild I am....can commune with nature and allow myself to be just a bit kinder on myself (even just for a few hours).

What are some of the things you like to do when you want to be alone?
~Play guitar and invent songs, or figure how to play out some favorite ones.
~Walk right along the very edge of the water, where it meets the sand/pebbles.
~Lay directly on the grass (no blankie) spread out like a starfish and look up to the sky, watching the gentle clouds if any, feeling everything (the cool grass underneath me, the breeze, the warm sun on my skin)...listening to everything, including the grass grow...smelling the smells...
~Sudoku, of course!!

~ lights some candles and soak in a hot bubble bath
~ lock my bedroom door and read a book or watch a dvd
~ plug in my IPOD tunes and go for a drive
~ go for a walk
~ take a ferry ride (to Victoria)  | |

He's been really sick lately, his days our numbered, I fear.
But I take him to the park near my house, and we just lay under his favourite tree.
We listen to the locals play tennis, and the kids on the swings and trolleys.
It's quite peaceful.
I also resort to curling into bed, closing my door, and putting on a movie.
Or I put my iPod on to some music that fits my mood, and simply block out the world.
SO many different way to withdraw and be alone, without having to actually remove yourself from people and places. | |

I actually have some form of mental capability(illness???) where I can zone everyone, everything, and every sound out no matter where I am. Someone called it a gift,,,but I feel it's just a need, thus, I just do it. Coming out of it sometimes really hurts thou and never seems to happen when I click my fingers.  | |

I have this special talent, too, but I always think that people will think I am rude if I start zoning out on them. If you zone out on people, are you not telling them they are boring?
The truth is most people do not bore me but I do find them a little predictable at times. | |

I have my 'zen' moments in my car on the way home from work. When I have more time and can plan a getaway, it usually involves a river. Very soothing. | |
