| Why do men ruin relationships with video games? Posted: 5/7/2008 7:51:22 AM | | I make all my girls watch me play video games and I even make them play video games. I once bought a video game for my girl after we decided what type of game she could like. Gaming never ruined any of my relationships because I make the girl a part of the action and they know how much I love it. | |

On the serious tip, though. You just need to make sure you have some semblance of balance. I mean, even the most die-hard of gamer, whether they be man or woman... or possible third option, will need together time that doesn't involve a joystick... well... some of that time hopefully will also involve a stick of joy, but that's another story... full of darkness... and quite possibly a lot of crying. Hell, even if you read in the presence of one another once and awhile... or ride a tandem bike... that never looks dorky... no... never.

Sure, I can see it getting a little much if your man is obsessed with an online RPG and has issues holding jobs and contributing.... but, whats wrong with gaming as a hobby? Do you want your man around you 24/7? Both sides to a couple should have their own hobbies.
I play video games. To me, they're a lot like watching a movie... except a lot more interactive Its a great way to escape, and an entertaining way to spend time. I love games even more when I'm playing them with someone special tho. I encourage other girls to play with your man on occasion... then maybe you'll get it :)

| WHY DO MEN RUIN RELATIONSHIPS WITH VIDEO GAMES? Posted: 5/7/2008 5:46:57 PM | Wow, what a clueless and inflammatory thread title. What kind of response were you hoping to get from this? Here's a hint: If he's doing anything "for days and days" it's either because he's got some severe issue of his own or it's because you're driving him out of his tree, and he either lacks the communication skills to convey that to you or his previous attempts at communicating that to you have been futile.
If you find yourself in that sort of situation, evaluate yourself before you throw yourself at him screaming "OMG YOU MEN ALWAYS DO THIS!". Also, make sure you're not guilty of the same thing before you open your mouth. How much time do you spend watching TV? Reading? Cooking? Exercising? Anything can be unhealthy if you take it to an extreme, and men aren't the only ones guilty of being extremists. Exercise common sense next time you're about to post a thread like this, please.

Exactly. I'll tell you a good 70 hour "interactive movie"....Final Fantasy X for the ps2. Girls would LOVE that game...its like a really long love story.
Honestly, I dont see the big deal in adult men/women playing video games. The average video game player is between 22-31 years old.

But if I were reading a book it would be acceptable to say, "Let me finish this chapter." Somehow the fact that I'm playing a story means that I'm not an adult? I don't think so. It is no different than someone saying, "After the football game!!1"
Video games, like football, are only bad in extreme excess. And usually the excess and total ignoring of a partner comes from the fact that the relationship isn't working. We choose to blame the symptom rather than say, "Wow, this person isn't in to me anymore" or "Wow, there's a problem.... we should really communicate and try to fix it." No. We sit around and blame symptoms and fail to communicate and then we wonder what happened.

| Why do men ruin relationships with video games? Posted: 5/24/2008 7:52:44 PM | | Video Games for me are a good way to relieve strees after a long day at work. I have a former co-worker who i occasionally play video games with for like 10-12 straight hours on a Saturday or Sunday & his fiance is totally fine with this!!! My ex wasn't too big on the video game thing but occasionally she did play with me. | |
