Long hair ... tends to show a certain sort of lifestyle I would prefer not to be associated with.
*Raises eyebrow*
...And exactly what is this "certain sort of lifestyle" that you associate with long haired men, redheadlovely ?
Not liking the appearence of long hair is your preference, and to be respected.
Sterotyping men with long hair is just plain ignorant.
So tell me, lady, what's my lifestyle?

I don't like the way it looks. It also tends to show a certain sort of lifestyle I would prefer not to be associated with. Not all men, but quite a few of them.
You failed to include the sentence after the one you quoted.
I live in a small town in New York where a decent amount of the long haired men are rednecks, hunters, head-bangers or they ride harleys... which is not might cup of tea. I want to reiterate the fact I said, "Not all men."
I am not ignorant just honest.

| Do women prefer men with long hair or short? Posted: 4/1/2007 10:37:24 PM | We(age 50+) came of age in an era where guys & girls grew their hair long. Girls with long hair were the coming-of-age types vs. the stoic old fashioned 50's housewife- looking mom types with the short- haired bubble-do's.
Same with men. Guys with short hair were akin to the white cracker southern redneck John Birch Society mentality who burned Beatles albums at rallies, or just plain old dumb jocks, while the long haired dudes were looked upon as free thinkers..open minded..worldly avant garde etc.
It was an era, not the fad of the week, & it made an impression on me as I matured. So to this day I still hold those preferences & dont care what the fashionable hairdo of the month club says which style is in or out at the moment. LOL
What I dont understand are girls who say they dont like guys with long hair, but they all swoon over the latest long haired swashbuckling hero in the latest action flick, or better yet that long haired rock star. Its been like that forever too. Whats up with that??

| Do women prefer men with long hair or short? Posted: 4/1/2007 10:42:21 PM | I am fully aware of your little 'not all men' disclaimer.
That doesn't change YOUR perception that :
...a decent amount of the long haired men are rednecks, hunters, head-bangers or they ride harleys...
YOU have singled them out here.
By your own words it can be assumed that there are also short-haired, shaven and/or bald men in your ' small town in New York' that also are rednecks, hunters, head-bangers or they ride harleys.
So why you are singling out men with long hair to associate with those activities/lifestyles ?
It would be more accurate to just say there are certain activities/lifestyles that you would prefer not to be associated with, would it not?
As you have stated, 'not all men' lead those lifestyles.
What does the length of their hair have to do it?

| Do women prefer men with long hair or short? Posted: 4/2/2007 12:01:15 PM | Something people don't seem to understand (and I said this even before I had longer hair), is that long hair is not some kind of decade specific thing. Hair in of itself is not a fad, as it is something that simply happens or grows on your body.
I like my longer hair.
I keep it and the rest of myself clean and I think it looks good. I would never think that because someone has long hair they are into nascar or using drugs, as that would be lame on my part.
In the collective known history of human kind, long hair on men and women has been the rule rather than the exception. I don't personally think it should really matter... unless the person looks better with shorter hair. I wish I had some newer pics up with my longer hair...
It's hard sometimes though... getting used to having longer hair. You definitely get more looks from women especially... at least from what I've noticed.

| Do women prefer men with long hair or short? Posted: 4/2/2007 12:07:44 PM | I prefer bald men or really really short hair on men. After being married to a man with long hair for 11 years, and watching him stare at himself in the mirror for hours I'd have to say I'm running as fast as I can away from men with long hair | |

| Do women prefer men with long hair or short? Posted: 4/3/2007 9:30:48 AM | | I actually prefer short hair, but sometimes an exception to the rule is okay. If their hair is as long as Joe Don Baker's was (when he was younger), then that's okay. | |

| Do women prefer men with long hair or short? Posted: 4/5/2007 11:06:36 AM | Let em pi*s and moan about the guys with long hair. Just leaves more for me. People with that small minded mentality are more unattractive to me than pretty much ANYTHING.
Where are you from, anyway? Tupper Lake?

But once it gets gray in it. It does not look sexy. It makes a guy with a lot of long gray hair look like a homeless person or very old.

| Do women prefer men with long hair or short? Posted: 5/12/2007 10:33:00 PM | | personally i like clean dressed and clean shaved and as for hair, not necessary navy crew cut but as long as its clean and tidy and not greasy and too long, especially not longer than mine. Men are true beauty of nature but it can be easy covered by the sloppy long hair. I love the feeling from the short stubs in the back of the head. Some times a little growth of the beard feels sexy but does not good. | |

| Do women prefer men with long hair or short? Posted: 5/13/2007 3:31:16 AM | | I just know that when I got out of the navy, I had mine long for a few years, ponytail and all that. Working outside, getting sweaty and windblown, one day I went and had it cut to about a half inch and it felt great. I've been wearing it short every since, and the women didn't seem to mind.... | |

| Do women prefer men with long hair or short? Posted: 5/21/2007 2:55:51 AM | | I used to perfer men with long hair, but the older I become, the less I find that particular hair style attractive; nowadays, I kinda like the "shag" cut on a man; not too long and not too short:) | |

I've always been curious about this question, I would of thought long haired guys would get more attention considering every girl melts over celebs like colin farrell & orlando bloom even brad pitt had it long for a while. I'm still mourning the loss of Brad Pitt's hair. On one hand, if all men looked like celebrities or rock stars with long hair, we'd swoon over more of em. Long hair doesn't always suit certain men.
On the the other hand the men I have met in my life who were good looking and had a full head of long hair I most definitely had a thing for, some I dated and some I got involved with. I prefer it to short hair for the most part.
