Yes

From what I believe yes they are. They are just lying i think or just playing games with peoples minds and money.

yes, they are all frauds. Amazing Randi has a one million dollar challenge. One Million Dollars awaits the individual that can prove, in a controlled setting, that they have "super" powers. Nobody has claimed the prize yet. Google the Amazing Randi, follow some links, do some reading and I bet you will agree, they are all frauds.

IsNacht-- and what proof would be enough to satisfy some nut who is willing to give a way a million dollars? I bet no one would ever be good enough to him to get the prize anyway...

Flyguy, you seriously know someone who was healed of leukemia at a Benny Hinn meeting???? And there is verifiable proof??? I think the Amazing Randi is willing to pay money for that also.

Absolutely. But there's never enough proof for those who refuse to believe, and I think the people involved would rather count their blessings and go on with their lives than try to make a media storm out of it.

Like I said, I'm not a Hinn fan. To the (formerly) sick man's credit, he thanks God for the healing, not Benny Hinn. As for the Amazing Randi, I've never heard of him.

I am seriously speechless. I just read a site on faith healings the other night where a medical doctor tried to track down one verifiable healing of a major disease and could not find one. I don't know how hard he looked, but as something of a Christian sceptic, I am not sure if I ever have known of a verifiable healing before. Do you have any more details? Was Hinn involved at all?

I don't know how hospitals categorize these miraculous happenings. I suspect some doctors might be somewhat baffled and embarrassed and choose to "sweep it under the carpet." But the man in question lives in Davis, CA, near Sacramento. I don't know what hospital or doctor it was.

I don't know what Hinn did personally, but the man was at a Hinn meeting, and he claims he felt something strange, and he knew at that moment that he didn't have leukemia anymore. Like I said earlier, even Hinn's workers weren't buying it.

Well, according to the Bible, Jesus at least tried to keep his healings quiet as well.

Hollywood has used this theme for years, where a person really does get healed at a healing service put on by less than ethical people. From Lon Chaney's "the Miracle Man" to "Elmer Gantry" to the earlier mentioned "Leap of Faith". I just never thought it happened in real life. I think most Christians would say that God heals, but it seems that most of the time in the case of a serious ailment, healing never comes, bringing doubts to the mind of even those strong in faith. Or maybe it is because our faith is not strong enough? At any rate, thanks for sharing. It was great to hear.

Glad to brighten your day! I recall that the Bible even accounts for questionable people performing (successfully) healings in God's name. I'll have to look it up...

My mistake-- the book of Matthew makes reference to people who try to justify themselves by casting out demons and prophesying, not healing.

I did some research. The Amazing Randy is indeed looking for a verified healing through faith.

i actually save thousands of dollars on health care by just going with faith. actually if we had all just believed harder, we didnt need anyone to invent the medical profession at all.

sorry if i sound sarcastic - i mean it.

I am sure I could find equally long articles about Christian frauds and fakes, but tell me does anyone really read long posts?

By all means do. I would love to read an intelligent debunking of fraudulent Christian practices as well. And the intelligence level of people on this forum is sufficient to handle multiple paragraphs so have at 'er.

did you ever feel your sprained foot was going to kill you? or the cold you mentioned? no?...well then, that's called faith. how often does the placebo "heal" people in clinical trials? or some tree with some "healing power" in some poor village?
miracles happen to those that believe in them. and i don't intend on educating anyone on that---life provides all.

Okay, jumping in on the tail end of this (Man, looks like I missed a good one).

Anyway, I'd say no. To amplify that, I don't think _every last one_ of, well, anything can be lumped into any kind of box.

As far as cheating, I'd like an explanation on that one...

cheat. cheat·ed, cheat·ing, cheats

To deceive by trickery; swindle: cheated customers by overcharging them for purchases.
To deprive by trickery; defraud: cheated them of their land.
To mislead; fool: illusions that cheat the eye.

Okay, we've established (I assume) the general sense of the concept of cheating. Any chance we could narrow down how it applies to mediums in particular?

i dont have proof - so forgive me - just the same way mediums dont have proof of real miracles.

but i dont think healing can be done by mediums talking to the god for you - sort of lawyer job.

so any medium that claims such capabilities must be cheating per previous post.

sorry should have written this then....

I'm afraid I've never seen any references to mediums claiming go-between status for worshipers and deities. Ordinarily, that service is supposed to be provided by churches, saints, angels, and the Pope. Mediums, on the other hand, tend to claim power to speak with spirits and the dead. Is that what we're getting at?
