| Are all mediums frauds? Posted: 9/7/2005 10:26:52 PM | jackthebear Thanks for the thoughts and if it works for you great. My issue is that I have this ability as a psychic and have had it from the time I was a child. I did not ask for it, I do not abuse it, I understand it to be of God and so I am content with my path and my connection to God. Spiritualism is my religion, philosophy and science. It has its own history and traditions and I have a spiritual community and fellowship that most folks could only wish for. It is others who feel that I need to change and that I am wrong or that I am not worthy. I do not feel these things and although I respect Jesus' teachings I also respect the teachings of Buddha and many other teachers. Why do I need to limit my thinking and spiritual path to one teacher's way? And why can't I enjoy the direct connection that I have with Spirit through mediumship? Should I change me just because others do not understand me? If I change me because others tell me I am wrong I am going against what God had planned for me IMO

| Are all mediums frauds? Posted: 9/7/2005 10:36:57 PM | robert_paulson....just one thing....
While I am not arguing with your views and opinions, in fact I respect them....I just want to say that you need to distingush between a medium and a psychic. There are differences. Again, in most of my posts I have been saying the same underlying thing...education behind an opinion makes that an informed opinion. I could write a whole essay on the differences between mediums and psychics....infact I have when I took a course on understanding what these people are and the psychology behind it all as well as the history. But I will spare you the lecture...because it is a matter of personal choice to do indepth study on different religions.
I can say that in all my studies of the different people that share this earth with us, I have really opened my eyes to the fact that not one religion is more right then the other. I have come to an understanding that humanity is basically one face...one race and within that race, you will get followers of different types. Spiritualism being one...Christianity being another and I respect the fact that each person holds beliefs in different things. Also in my studies I have come to realise there are many similarities between the different religions around the world...just that different nationalities...skin colours...language barriers, economics, historical feuds and so on prevent some religions from accepting or understanding others. That being said...true mediums tend to follow spiritualism, which is a religion, well documented and written in history as well as being accepted and recognized by the Supreme Court in the US and Canada. It has been studied scientifically as well by world renouned scientists. The American History is full of National leaders that have accepted Spiritualism and respected it as well. Does that make them a fraud? President Lincon had foreseen his own death through a Spirit message....he did great things for the U.S., I don't see any fraud associated with him....yet within the ranks of the media and Hollywood, you get the rolex wearing liars that claim to be speacial seers and psychics....

If you noticed, someone else started this thread...Cat just happens to be a medium and from the postings in other threads by the particular person that started this one...it would seem to me that they were trying to single out Cat and her abilities....for religious reasoning!

| Are all mediums frauds? Posted: 9/7/2005 10:47:57 PM | pausetti, I agree with you here. I would say that anyone can be psychic (untrained) it takes years of intense study, practice and dedication to be a proper medium. Mediums develop use the psychic abilities that are inherent in all of us as humans. The medium's focus is spiritual progression and growth for those who seek their help and for themselves.
As for those who have tried to single me out seems to me they lack faith in their own religion and feel threatened by anyone who does not adhere to their narrow view. I know what is real and what is possible spiritually because of Spiritualism can these others say the same about their religion? I think not. Otherwise why are they so set on tearing me and other non-Christians to shreds? Those who are comfortable in their faith and live it for real do not need to down other faiths to make themselves feel better.

| Are all mediums frauds? Posted: 9/7/2005 11:39:48 PM | | Fallenangel, I am the one who started this thread. Perhaps the motives of my heart were not in the right place, but I figured that if someone could continually bash what I believe in, then they could defend what they believe in. Actually some of the conversation that has happened on this thread was surprising and refreshing. | |

| Are all mediums frauds? Posted: 9/8/2005 5:14:45 AM | RDtoo-- I will oppose fanatical Fundamentalist Christians who advocate assassination in Christ's name and use religious and political power to deceive the public any day. AKA the likes of Pat Robertson and Jerry Fallwell are frauds and scam artists who should be questioned for the awful things they say publicly in Jesus name. Is that what you believe in and feel I was bashing?
As I said before I have no issue with Christ's teachings in general but please do not fool yourself into thinking that modern-day Christianity (and especially American Fundamentalism) is anything close to what Jesus thought, taught or was about! If you do you are just deluding yourself.

| Are all mediums frauds? Posted: 9/8/2005 5:49:32 PM | | I too have psychic abilities more like in dreams-making me on the surface very empathetic-and in tune with awesome intuition..I never quite understood my gift until reading about it-it has helped me connect and understand both sides of the light..paranormally it wouild be acceptable and religiously unacceptable-why? who knows but one must remember there were prophets on both sides of the fence thoughout the earth's history. There is a diff between the mediums and fore telling...to be in tune with ones self or with others is a gift indeed..Most people will seek out a spirit guide when faced with the questions of how and whys.. | |

| Are all mediums frauds? Posted: 9/8/2005 7:29:55 PM | fallenangel_rise_again-- No problem! I agree we are all accountable for our own actions. I am glad you have a spiritual path that works for you as I have what works for me.

| Are all mediums frauds? Posted: 9/9/2005 4:57:18 PM | I would say that a person is only a fraud if they claim to be able to do something that it is proven they can not. As you can not prove mediums talk to spirits, that dose not make them frauds.
You could however proove that someone has no ability to heal the sick, that would be fraude. But if they say they can make you better, and you get better, who cares how they did it, wether by psycic pwers or trickery, the fact is they did what they said they would and so you should be happy for it.
I know a good many meiums who have ectrodinary talents, but have never used them for profit. Some of them I can gaurante have no psychic abilities, teyr just very good at reading people and figuring out things. Dose this make them frauds though? some of them don't claim to be psycic, just to have "gifts" or "talents" that others don't. But of course then there other people I know who do have extrodanary abilities that I can not explain rationaly, one of whom helped me to get through a particularly paifull injury ussing crystal healing. I personaly don't care wether se was a fraude or not, as she promised me that she could help reduce my pain and she did.

| Are all mediums frauds? Posted: 9/12/2005 7:11:35 PM | | I watched a show on tv and it seemed real enough where this psychic was able to feel the energy of a place so bad and a cop interviewed her and she basically nailed on the head exactly what happened there...so i believe them to be real..but when they want 20 an hour to tell you something that you already know id be skeptical. Ive also met a guy whos intuition was so bonafide it was psychic, he knew my friends life story how many brothers and sisters she had without her saying a word, so the people do exsist. | |

| Are all mediums frauds? Posted: 9/13/2005 6:36:58 AM | RDtoo ^^^^ That can be taken as you imposing your religious ideas on others. I have heard other Christians give this explaination in line of what mediums do when they give Spirit messages. That we do not work with the actual Spirit of a relative that was once known, it is in fact a negative Spirit working closely with the devil who knows that person's life story and knows of the people in their life that have passed....and they just want to work on someone to sway them towards the devil.
It irks me beyond belief to hear another religion pass judgement on someone's beliefs and that is exactly what your statement is doing! I have given many messages to a number of people and have never expected anything in return for them! The messages were words of kindness and of love....afterwards I have been approached by a number of people and told that they are so greatful to have heard what I said...it meant a lot to them. I have never had nor seen a true Spirit message sway someone or pry into someone's life and try to sway them to the devil.
Once again, Spiritualism is a religion that most mediums follow and you have just made a degrading comment against another religion...in fact this whole thread is asking if a religious belief is a fraud. What would happen if the question were reversed towards Christianity? A lot of Christians would be up in arms about such a question and such comments.

| Are all mediums frauds? The question from a Troll no less... Posted: 9/13/2005 8:06:01 AM | RDtoo so what is the Absolute Right road to God? I notice you are obviously absent from the thread where I ask that question re which branch of Christianity is the correct way to go. All you do on these boards is tell everyone you disagree with that they are wrong and you belittle them in the process. What is it that you are doing that is so right? Why not tell folks exactly why you are so correct and the rest are so wrong?
Heck you might even what to post what Christian denomination/church you participate in so the rest of us heathens can get it right eh? LOL but something tells me you don’t have the balls to do that but then trolls never do...
Just like they demand others not hide their profiles but they don't have the guts to post a real picture of themselves… As you can see I do read the nonsense you post in other threads on the board to other POF posters.

But who are you to judge me unworthy anyway?

Sure they exist and getting their info from familiar spirits....
I am assuming that by familiar spirits you mean demons or bad entities? if that is the case, why would a demon, representative of Satan supposidly, want to help man by giving someone a vision? I mean isn't it the christian theory that demons are out to destroy man, not HELP them? So,, your theory makes no sense to me.

| Are all mediums frauds? The question from a Troll no less... Posted: 9/14/2005 7:32:31 AM | LOL good point 13thportal, but I think you will find that anything that some Christians cannot understand or does not fit their interpretation of the Bible is then cast off as the work of Satan and his minions.
I am willing to bet the reply, if there is one, will be something along the line that the demons pretend to help man in the beginning so they can just deceive them... and that it is all just a game to them.
Mind you RDtoo, and others like him cannot explain why healing and other God sent gifts come to non-Christian gatherings just as much as Christian ones. Surly that would be blamed on the Devil too but you are right their theory makes no sense when you see just how easily they apply it to anything outside their limited scope of understanding. If you know history this has been a favoured tactic LOL! I mean the world is round in spite of what the church taught and yet Galileo was not pardoned for his supposed heresy until this century.
Could it be that rather than being of the devil, mediumship is just a more refined use of the God given gifts we all have if we seek them? This possibility though would be a serious threat to the Christian church as people discover that they do not need to live in endless guilt wondering if they are good enough to be saved.
