| Question about being induced!! Posted: 9/7/2005 6:19:45 PM | The whole point of being induce is to start labor. Once they start the drip you are going to have the baby because the contraction start right then. . they try and make the contacrtion a minute apart. My wife 1st induce child took 9 hour, and the 2nd induced child took 4 hour of labor. I could not tell you if was worse than a natual one I have been thru labor and two my wife never went onto labor naturaly. Good luck to you. I am sure everything will be fine. | |

Thank you for your thoughts and no it did not sound lame. Knowing that she is in a better place and is helping make God's gardens beautiful for when I and her sister get there is what helps bring me comfort. (as well as my poetry - have written and shared a few I wrote during that time of my life and can be read at "Poetry From The Heart" here on pof)
And Dani, thanks to you also for your kind words.
Again, best wishes to the OP.

| Question about being induced!! Posted: 9/7/2005 10:28:33 PM | My labor was induced as well.... and no, they won't be sending you home once they put you on "pit" ... short for pitocin (not sure of the spelling)... You'll do fine. I actually had an easy labor. They started inducing my labor at 10:00 on a Monday morning and I had my son at 3:29 Tuesday afternoon.... BUT... it sounds much worse than it was. They stopped inducing my labor Monday evening around 7 to let me rest thru the night and then started it back up early Tues morning - around 6:00 a.m. or so. I only experienced about 2 hours of hard labor.
Trust me - I was scared to death when they told me they were going to induce my labor too - - I didn't know what to expect. You'll be fine tho... Believe it or not - if I go through it all again - I'll hope they induce my labor next time too.... sure beats rushing to the hospital at 2:00 a.m. in contractions the whole way!

| Question about being induced!! Posted: 9/8/2005 4:18:03 PM | first of all - sweetone and broweyedgirl - those are beautiful thoughts, don't ever think they are lame or anything else besides beautiful...
oh my goodness, does this thread bring back memories...
remember, everyone is different, I still think the doctors overdid it with the pitocin - so take this with a grain of salt....
When my ex was trying to deliver our son, she wanted to do everything as 'naturally' as possible - after about 12 hours, without really progressing very much, it was decided to give her pitocin. She was offerred an epidural at the same time, but decided against it. Well, I was at her bedside, holding her hand and watching a monitor that displayed a graph which showed the intensity of her contractions. The monitor had previously been showing a curved line that gently sloped about halfway up, and then curved and sloped back down with each contraction.
Well, when that first pitocin induced contraction hit, that line shot straight to the top and flatlined up there for about a minute. She almost crushed my hand and kept yelling "is it done, is it done?!!!" I kept saying almost, almost, its coming back down now.... The second contraction hit - she started screaming "I WANT MORPHINE!!!" - she was wheeld out of the room and given an epidural after that second contraction.

| Question about being induced!! Posted: 9/8/2005 4:57:07 PM | | I can say this, I was induced and for me it went all wrong, they ended up having to do an emergency c-section, but everybody is different. Your body will do its thing if not...other options come into play..no matter what happens tho...the end result is what matters, you new baby! you forget the rest. | |

| Question about being induced!! Posted: 9/8/2005 9:51:00 PM | | I was iduced with the "gel" on the cervix. At no point did they send me home, my labour was only 10 hours with 1 hour of hard in that. I found for me it was not tha bad, but I also kept in mind that at the end I would be holding the most amazing thing in my arms.My child. I would do labour all over again in a heart beat. I was told all these scary stories, but every cramp and pain was worht it. My daughter is now 7 1/2. Just go in with a clear mind and super thoughts. Good luck | |

| Question about being induced!! Posted: 9/9/2005 10:50:17 AM | | I was set up for an inducement but my OB decided she would do something when she did an internal which made me go into labour. I was scared to. It all depends on how fast you go. My one friend stayed and another went home. | |

| Question about being induced!! Posted: 9/9/2005 1:37:14 PM | So sorry ybeg!!!
I'm sure your doctor will explain what he is doing ect in hospital..do ask questions if ur unsure. I was induced twice, both times so far. They used gel twice for both times, and broke my water. It still took a long time. Child birth is hard no matter what. I know sometimes it just doesn't happen naturally. My cousin had a still birth, and was 3 weeks over due. Baby was still born for no reason, there was no explaination, but they should have induced her. I am due in on shit...11 weeks i think, and hope to try it without induction, but whatever happens happens.
Good luck, and know every delivery is way different, just listen to your doctor, and nurses, be calm, and go with the flow. It will happen regardless of how, i can't wait to meet my baby, I'm so excited for you hun.

| Question about being induced!! Posted: 9/10/2005 3:45:34 AM | I had 3 children and my 2 first ones were induce. It didn't hurt more than my third who was born natural even if inducing is nearly the same as natural birth. They will put an I.V. to induce your labor but you don't get the full pain before your water breaks. I understand you being worried, we all are at that point but the stress of it will make your labor worse if you worry too much. The nurses will be there for you in any situations. Don't be shy and if you need a pain reducer...........ask for it. The pain is not heavy right from the beginning of when they induce you. If you need any pain releiver...........they will not poke you with another needle........they will do it from your I.V. Good Luck and let us know how things went.

| Question about being induced!! Posted: 9/11/2005 7:43:13 PM | | Being induced and pain all depends on the girl. My girlfriend was induced and induced and induced finally they decided to do a c section her body was a wreck she really couldn't hold her new son for more than a few minute at a time for almost a week cause all her muscles were bug gered. I hope your labour went well regardless. | |

| Question about being induced!! Posted: 9/15/2005 7:03:31 PM | Congratulations evil!! Brayden..love that name..it's not too common.
When and if you decide to have another one, don't for one minute think that it will be the same. Every pregnancy if different, as is every child. Soooooooo happy for you!! Enjoy that little one for all it's worth!! A lot of women remember the birth experiance as a frightening one (some, rightfully so!!) but, I find when I am feeling down, i sit back, relax and think of the births of my children. In no time, my spirits are back to where they should be.
avoid induction if you can. baby and body know when they are ready.
LOL..Soooooooo not true. If all of mine had not been induced..and one was almost 9lbs...they would all STILL be there!!
