| Question about being induced!! Posted: 6/22/2006 5:38:30 AM | | my sister had to be induced 5 times before anything started happening they dont tend to send you home after an induction as contractions come very quick and im sorry to say quite painfull they are strong i would consider pain relief before they induce you,try your best to keep control of the situation as the midwives really took over my sisters birth,,,,she was born ten mins after the induction,,i wish you the best of luck for the both of you,,youll do great try and enjoy it i know that sounds mad but i was given pethedine and slept the whole way through my labour i missed eveything and didnt get to see my daughter till she was 5 hours old,good luck xx | |

| Question about being induced!! Posted: 6/22/2006 10:38:48 AM | All My children were inductions.
First was just the drip I went i n hooled up to IV {Pitcon drip} stayed and 7 hours later My first was born {8 8 1/2 and 3 weeks early}
Second was induction I had the Pitocin drip as well as the Prepidil gel to start . Since the Prepidil gel is to soften and thin the cervix it was placed in. My second was 21 hours of hard labour { 7 11 and 3 weeks early }
Third was induction with both the Prepidil gel and Pitcon drip and was 21 1/2 hours of hard labour { 7 14 and 4 weeks early}
I would have to say that each induction was different and for different reasons. The hardship of induction is your body doesnt really get to prepare itself for the pain and such of labour.
Wish all those moms about to have babies a short and speedy labour and healthy beautiful children

| Question about being induced!! Posted: 6/22/2006 11:57:42 AM | "It all depends on what kind of induction they use. If it is the drip you stay in the hospital. IF you get the gel inside of you, then they send u home."
I think each hosptial is different how they treat thing... i had the gel and i was kept on the labour ward, they did tell me that after an hour provided everything was ok i could get up and take a wander round the hopsital and kill a few hours before labour would start.. but i went into labour within 1/2 an hour of the gel being applied and my little boy made a speedy entry in 5hrs 21mins not bad for a first birth, dont be scared of being induced... i found the scariest part is not knowing how long its going to go on for.. i was straight in there with contractions every 3mins so you can imagine my horror of that lasting a potentially 24hrs! But unfortunately we cant have countdown clocks that say your baby will arrive in 3hrs and 22 mins..
my one suggestion is if you like baths try and get in the birthing pool! I didnt have matt in there but it sure did wonders to relax me and kill some time while in labour!
Good Luck! | |
