| Pregnant girl threatening Posted: 10/1/2009 6:21:01 PM | | Got news for you, they can. It's called termination of parental rights. Available in most states, just not well known. I couldn't do that to my child, but some can | |
|
| Pregnant girl threatening Posted: 10/1/2009 9:27:35 PM | Supreme Court has held that the termination of parental rights does not extinguish a child support obligation unless the child is being adopted.
A voluntary relinquishment or consent for termination of parental rights is effective when it is signed and may not be revoked. The requirements and processes described in Sections 78-3a-402 through 78-3a-410 do not apply to a voluntary relinquishment or consent for termination of parental rights. The court need only find that the relinquishment or termination is in the child's best interest. There is a presumption that voluntary relinquishment or consent for termination of parental rights is not in the child's best interest where it appears to the court that the primary purpose is to avoid a financial support obligation. The presumption may be rebutted, however, if the court finds the relinquishment or consent to termination of parental rights will facilitate the establishment of stability and permanency for the child. Upon granting a voluntary relinquishment the court may make orders relating to the child's care and welfare that the court considers to be in the child's best interest."
In other words signing off on parental rights is not going to get one out of child support just the way it goes, as that is the childs right.

| Pregnant girl threatening Posted: 10/2/2009 3:31:51 AM | BP 1 I never said you made up the statistics I merely pointed out they contradict each other. Rather I question the reliability of your source. 2. Any reputable statistician would not use such a nebulous definition as
"deadbeat dad" category is fathers that can afford to pay and don't. The preceeding may be your definition not the accepted one. 3. I did not see your stat
53% of men who default make less than like 7k a year. If correct That does not even equate to minimum wage working 40hrs a week. To which I would say They need to work more to live up to their responsibility to their children.

| Pregnant girl threatening Posted: 10/2/2009 6:58:10 AM | a 38 year old man has a uh-hmm relationship with a 20 year old woman.. for what? stimulating conversation.. fashion advice..
He was wanting one thing..and got another..oh well..
it broke..that's the defense!!!!
did you ever think what would happen if it broke BEFORE you did the deed? probably not, just thinking about the moment.. gots lots a time now..
sorry..but get another job!!
|
| Pregnant girl threatening Posted: 10/2/2009 5:09:28 PM | @ Inego... I understand its called "termination of parental rights"... I'm telling you, that it can't be done at will. At least not in Mi. You can't just say 'here, I don't want this anymore' and give a child away, like you do a car or a house!!! They are a breathing living being! You don't just stop making payments on them and someone comes in the middle of the night to get them! A repo man for your kid! I work in this industry... I see so much of this b.s. that it is sickening... If a man decides that he can't 'afford' to pay for what ever reason, and believe me, I have heard everyone that you want to throw at me, he wants to "terminate his rights"... No, this is your child, they have feelings and emotions, you don't just terminate that!
Can it be done? yes, but it is done rarely, and with good reason....
|
| Pregnant girl threatening Posted: 10/2/2009 8:34:18 PM | He pays child support. Sorry, but he has to. A man's decision about whether or not to become a father exists only at the point if conception. Once conception has occured, legally he has nothing more to say. He cannot force a woman to take a morning after pill; he can't force a woman to have an abortion against her will. And if he doesn't pay support, he'll go to jail. The woman isn't "threatening" him with child support. It's law he pay it.
However, that doesn't mean the girl's family can retaliate against him. He needs to report any threatening behavior to the police and, if nedd be, get an order of protection. And he needs to talk to a counselor, pastor, preist--whoever--to help him through this.
Best of luck to him. | |

| Pregnant girl threatening Posted: 10/5/2009 7:37:22 PM | I find the arguments from men that say they should be allowed to have a say on if a child gets aborted and don't think the "her body her right" thing is fair is kinda funny.
What if that were the case but I was allowed to choose the birth control method of getting a guy snipped even if he protested? (After all I would loose control over my own body... so I'd need to be extra cautious) I bet they would be screaming about it being their body and their right to choose around something like that.
And before we get to the whole "but the snip is forever" thing.... abortion can leave a woman unable to conceive a child EVER again. Even a vasectomy can sometimes be reversed and the little swimmers can be released medically in the event the man wanted to have kids in the future.
Anyways... I think this situation sucks for men... I feel for them when they end up here... but it's a risk that comes with sex and keeping it in their pants doesn't seem to be high on their priority list.

| Pregnant girl threatening Posted: 10/7/2009 3:53:04 PM | Well, I guess at that point I would try to clean up my act and take a path towards custody. If you're going to have a child you mind as well try to keep it away from a needy psycho mother.
I disagree with the other posters here. While it may be the law, it makes no sense. It takes two to tango, but only one gets decide if there was a mistake?

I disagree with the other posters here. While it may be the law, it makes no sense. It takes two to tango, but only one gets decide if there was a mistake? I think it makes sense for 2 reasons: 1. Only 1 person is carrying the fetus so who is more appropriately the final aborter. 2. If you were involved in a functional relationship there would be plenty of input from both sides.
|
| Pregnant girl threatening Posted: 10/9/2009 10:18:36 AM | | I think we should have some choice. If I were a politition making the rules I would set it up where if the man wanted an abortion. It is still ultimately the womans final say they would just be made aware that going through the pregnancy they couldn't rely on child support once the baby was born. Then it's still there choice but it's fair in the end. | |
|
| Pregnant girl threatening Posted: 10/9/2009 7:23:31 PM | | imforver, but wouldn't that give men impunity to knock up women left and right and just refuse to pay child support? How is that fair? | |
|
| Pregnant girl threatening Posted: 10/10/2009 12:18:48 AM | | I think it is more fair than the system today because then at least the woman has a choice. She can have the kid knowing she wont get support or she can abort it or she can put it up for adoption. The way it is now the man has no choice. If she decides she wants it he has to pay and what he wants just doesn't matter. At least if the guy can sign off she has options. | |
|
| Pregnant girl threatening Posted: 10/11/2009 12:44:22 PM | imforever.
if men would realise that there is a consequence to having sex i.e.lot's and lot's of child support..why does that not stop 90% of men from chasing tail?
It boggles the mind that all most all the men on this thread are pissed b/c *drum roll* looks like OP will be forced to pay child support..
so I again I say.. oh well.
..Ya'll let's not forget the 18yr age difference.
| |
|
| Pregnant girl threatening Posted: 10/11/2009 5:43:58 PM | | The 18 year age differance doesn't mean jack. She is over the legal age. Ya I agree it's kind of gross to think of a 20 year old sleeping with a 40 year old but that is a choice she can make for herself. I am not pissed and I have never gotten in trouble over any of this. I wrap it up and well haven't had any problems yet. Sex is a good thing why would people stop doing it because there is some risk. What in todays world doesn't require risk. Crossing the street is a risk, driving is a risk, work is a risk. Everything is a risk no one stops doing any of those why should sex be differant. I am simply stating what I feel should be done to make it fair. More men support abortion than woman. Why should men have to pay for womans beliefs. I don't see abortion as killing a baby, Just preventing it sort of like a condom. I am not talking about late term abortion either. Or as stated before they can give it up for adoption. There are many people who would love to adopt a child. So we have to pay either because the womans beliefs or lack of power to give it up. Maybe the woman wants the child but if I want something I have to pay for it why should this be any differant. | |
|
| Pregnant girl threatening Posted: 10/11/2009 11:51:29 PM | I would like to know how wearing a condom to prevent a pregnancy even compares to having an abortion as a preventative.
They are in no way related and abortion should not be used as a form of birth control, and when it is it is usually done by stupid people too dumb to use protection in the first place.
More men support abortions because you men don't have it growing in you, you don't have the same connections. So with that said, abortions don't affect you men the same way they do women.
Poor little muffin 40 yrs old and too dumb to know any better that pregnancy can result from sex.
I really feel for you....NOT!!!
|
| Pregnant girl threatening Posted: 10/12/2009 12:29:28 PM | There is a risk in everything..yes.
So you play the odds on that and some lose..now he pays. The ick factor in the age thing bothers me more than anything because we ALL know what kind of con he used to get her there.
Yes, she's of age. Yes, he used protection. It "broke". She's pregnant and her family is after him..poor grown man.
He, of them both, should of considered the consequence.
|
| Pregnant girl threatening Posted: 10/12/2009 12:36:37 PM | I am not saying everyone should stop using condoms and resort to abortions. Acidents do happen though. Fortunately not to me, yet,(knock on wood) A fetus in the first couple of months is nothing. Killing it would be no worse than killing sperm. It doesn't think, doesen't feel, and it can't live on it's own.
So what if the fetus doesn't grow inside us. Doesen't mean we don't have the same connections. It is still out kid. I couldn't kill my kid but a fetus is a bit differant. The problem isn't the conection but more woman blowing things out of perportion considering their fetus as a child. Go to the slums of your city and take a look at those poor kids I think ift hey would have been aborted they would have a better life than they do now running in the streets with nothing but diapers, hooked on drugs, selling themselves for drug money ect. then tell me abortion isn't right. These kids have to suffer because of their mothers so called conection.
|
| Pregnant girl threatening Posted: 10/12/2009 12:42:42 PM | | yes I agree with the ick factor but trust me sometimes it is these young woman pursuing the old men. I think it has something to do with their money but not always there is something old men have that some young woman are attracted to. As an old man I don't think I'll find young woman gross but as a young man an old woman is kind of gross if thaught about in a sexual nature. therefore this ick factor is all on her. Unless he raped her she choose so what did he do wrong. I don't agree with these relationships but those 2 individuals had a choice if we don't like it it's our own problem. | |
|
| Pregnant girl threatening Posted: 10/12/2009 12:49:34 PM | ..forever..
oh my, did you just open a can of worms..be prepared to get flamed/roasted/toasted.
jmo, that having been in the world longer..HE would understand the consequence and magnitude of pregnancy, with or without his permission if she decides to continue it.
|
| Pregnant girl threatening Posted: 10/12/2009 1:00:52 PM | He's still young... can easily start a new life in an other country .... let her have it on her own if she likes it that much...
Just sayin' | |
|
| Pregnant girl threatening Posted: 10/12/2009 6:51:22 PM | | It's messed up that she seems to be gunning for this guy's wallet so hard, but that's the risk you take. If it comes to pass that the kid is real/ his, he needs to be a father to it and man up. I wouldn't be very happy about her juggernauting the whole pregnancy/birth... but there's a limit to what can be done legally. | |
|
| Pregnant girl threatening Posted: 10/12/2009 6:53:00 PM | | ok ALL adults know that having sex can lead to pregnancy. He can't make her take the morning after pill or get an abortion. If you are old enough to have sex, you are old enough to be responsible for the out outcome. Its tough being a parent, i know, but you do what you have to to take care of your children. If he doesn't want to be a part of the child's life that fine, but i think he should be responsible to help support that child since he helped make it. | |
|
| Pregnant girl threatening Posted: 10/12/2009 7:11:23 PM | I don't have any sympathy for him, or any guy who finds himself in this situation.
Accept the consequences of your actions. Wasn't that long ago that this woman would be living in shame, probably sent to another city to a home for wayward girls, where she would have to have the baby, and be forced to give it up for adoption. Or she risked dying from illegal abortion. Where was the guy in those scenarios? Now there is no longer the same stigma to be an unmarried woman with a baby.
So no, I have no sympathy. He should be a man, and own up to his responsibilities, especially at his age. geez. I think the guy's a loser, actually.
Guys should keep their pants zipped until they know the woman better, and until you have discussed what you will do if birth control fails. How many guys do this? Do you ever think of it? Everyone should do this with a prospective partner.
And if you want to be really safe, engage in activities that won't result in pregnancy, unless you and your sex partner are in agreement about what you will do if a pregnancy should occur
otherwise...stay out of the kitchen...
|
| Pregnant girl threatening Posted: 10/13/2009 2:31:40 AM |
unless you and your sex partner are in agreement about what you will do if a pregnancy should occur
Ya thats all fine and dandy until the woman actually gets pregnant You seem to forget that she can change her mind just as easily as she agreed to what would happen and there isn't a damn thing anyone can do about it.
