Journey and Steve Perry rock! Steve is one of the most powerful and most recognizable rock vocalists of all time. I have several of their CDs but have only listened to Raised on Radio (my personal favorite JRNY album) and Greatest Hits. However Steve Perry's classic solo debut Street Talk is very good and continues that powerful streak! Who can forget classics such as:
"I'll Be Alright Without You"
"Stone in Love"
"Girl Can't Help It"
"Ask the Lonely"
"Happy to Give"
"Suzanne" and plenty more!

Let's not leave out Steve's solo hits
"Oh Sherrie"
"Foolish Heart"
"She's Mine"
and "Strung Out"!

The single disc Greatest hits belongs in everybody's music collection even if it's only to share with someone else! Yep Journey rock and I also reccommend checking out Tall Stories with Steve Augeri who is the new lead vocalist of Joruney. It's a pretty powerful CD for the most part. "Don't Stop Believin'" in great music!!!

Jeff scott soto has his own band "jeff scott soto band" and its soon farewell tour for his band "talisman" which is such a shame. I wish he never started singing with Journey, its gonna be less JSS now and more "journey" I prefer his own songs which is a bit calmer mixed with Talisman that is hardrock. But journey is a great band too, but i would rather keep JSS music:)

Jeff Scott and no other singer can ever replace Steve Perry as the lead singer of Journey. Steve has this amazing voice. I haven't heard any of his recent songs in the past few years.Too bad.

The only other artist I've heard sing lead for Journey is Steve Augeri. It's too bad Steve didn't stay with Journey and Augeri didn't continue with Tall Stories. Consider yourself lucky if you're like me and own the rare Tall Stories CD from 1991. Augeri could have been very successful if the band would have gotten a bigger push but unfortunately around that time Grunge was beginning to take over. That was a very dark period in music for me!!!

Speaking of soundtracks, I think the visionquest soundtrack deserves an honourable mention. Come to think of it, I bought the soundtrack solely to hear Journey sing the totally awesome song(sorry people)
'ONly the Young' but found out the whole album is actually quite awesome. Funny thing..Ive never ever seen the movie/film.

Another night in any town
You can hear the thunder of their cry
Ahead of their time
They wonder why

In the shadows of a golden age
A generation waits for dawn
Brave carry on
Bold and the strong

Only the young can say
Theyre free to fly away
Sharing the same desires
Burnin like wildfire

Theyre seein through the promises
And all the lies they dare to tell
Is it heaven or hell?
They know very well

(chorus twice)

Only the young can say
Only the young can say
Only the young can say
Only the young can say
Only the young can say

Greg Rollie and Neil Schon both played with Santana before forming Journey. Rollie is seen in the movie "Woodstock" with Santana. They played awesome that day! From there, Journey went on to become a great band in their own right, well, until Boston came along and took over.....

My band incorporated "Separate Ways" about a year ago. Our keyboard player loves Journey so we decided to give him his little ray of sunshine (although I sing it).

We were leery the crowd ( especially the younger ones) would either walk out, laugh or vomit when we played it. To our surprise it is one of our best received songs!

People love to stomp to it!

Journey is awesome, love Steve Perry's voice and all the beautiful guitar solos. Sometimes I can't listen because I get too emotional... sob, yeah, now I know how it feels to be the "old-head" listening to classics I remeber... Feels weird and great at the same time...

Who's Crying Now... one of my favorites,
You Better Wait (Steve Perry)...

Another note, Journey is also good music to listen to after a bad breakup. I don't know why, but it seems to be good therapy.

Journey IS the best band of all time and always will be!!! :) You guys should really go out and hear them now...sure, everyone loves Steve Perry, but the musicians are incredibly talented and fierce!! Their on tour now and I already have tickets to 2 of their concerts...waiting for the presales for their other concerts nearby!!!

They have a new album (I mean, CD:) coming out on June 8th...If you ever see them live, you'll never forget it for the rest of your life...What a high:)

Lets not forget Steve Smith, one of the best drummers of his day, taught by the amazing Freddy Gruber.

I'd like Journey a lot more if they could keep a lead singer for more than five minutes at a time. They're touring again this summer with a new one--this is what, the fourth guy?

Listen to the album - Raised on Radio - the last album with Steve Perry ....Interesting note...Randy Jackson played bass and toured with Journey back then.... Neal Schon is a top shelf guitar player too...one of the best in my opinion.... watch youtube video with Steve Perry...
" Girl Cant Help It"....great performance !!

I know a guy who toured with Asia as a guitar player. We where having a quiet beer in our local rock bar and the conversation suddenly veered to the subject of Neil Schon's guitar playing.

Being a huge Journey fan I am the first guy to sing his praises, but unfortunately Neil does a bit too much also. My friend was hanging out with him at a guitar show, and he said that Neil thinks the only rock guitar player in the world that is better than him is Yngwie Malmsteen.

Journey still rocks though.
