This is very likely to be true... There are so many great musicians who never made it commercially...
It's like with Ray Charles, who everyone considers to be such a good (if not great) piano player. He said the reason he started out in Seattle was because he wanted to get as far away from Florida as possible, because all the other piano players were so good, he couldn't even get a gig with a band... | |

kirk hammett- i know some say he is overrated and only plays pentatonic but he is the reason or one of them anyway i picked up a guitar
dave mustaine- the best rythem player in metal period, some say hetfield but truth be told hetfield couldnt be daves rodie lol some of the stuff he can play and sing is incredable
eddie van halen- the man that paved the way for things to come, i little while ago he wouldnt be on my list but i have been listening to him more and more recently and gotta love eruption classic
yngwie malmsteen- probably my fav guitarist on the list some of his stuff is ****ing diffucult i mean jeeze i have been working on arpegios from hell for ****ing ever now, fav song trilogy suit op5 can play till about 3 min in
jason becker- the almight becker if the rest on the list are guitar hero's this man is a guitar god enough said
