Well i have to say of those that I have seen live (and the list is pretty extensive)...
Yngwie takes the damned cake! I have NEVER seen fingers move on the neck of a guitar as fast as his!
Satriani is a guitar GOD! He can make it sing SO sweet!
George Lynch, formerly of Dokken is pretty damned amazing too.
I was impressed to actually see someone mention****Dale....but I noticed that I did not see Chic Correa (sp?) mentioned...his fusion jazz style is incredible!
I cannot go without recognizing people like Santana, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Randy Rhodes, B.B. King, Hendrix, Zappa, Page and Clapton too.

| Favorite Guitar players Posted: 10/31/2005 3:08:45 AM | favorite guitar players ? what a loaded question ... i saw a few people put down Trevor Rabin and can't understand why ...too each their own i guess but in my books the guy's deadly ...just listen to his acoustic solo on "90125 Live" ... his solo on the song "hearts" is as soulful as it gets ... When are they going to knight Jeff Beck by the way ? Brian May a sonic pioneer ...Dick Wagner and Steve Hunter ...(ever hear the solo on King of the Silver Screen from Alice Coopers "Lace and Whiskey" (i want that tone damnit!!!) some people might disagree but i've seen this guy twice and he's a bad mofo Steve Lukather from Toto ... Scott Gorham and Brian Robertson from Thin Lizzy ... the guys responsible for me getting into playing guitar in the first place ...if you can get a copy of "Live In The Air Age" by Be Bop Deluxe , guitarist Bill Nelson is a unknown genius ... Wil Ray ,John Jorgenson and Jerry Donahue from the Hellecasters are fan-f***in-tastic ... of course you have your 'mutants' as i call them ... Eric Johnson , Vai, Petrucci, Morse, "bling vey ballsteen" lol (cant stand him but gotta salute him) ... if you 've ever seen Kim Mitchell live you got to give the man some love ... his work on the early Max Webster albums is definitely worth checking out ... Alex Lifeson from Rush ... our government should have a postage stamp with him and his white gibson 335 on it (lol) ... well these are just a few in the rock genre that get my ears working ... and there's a hell of lot more but .... oh yeah and does anybody know who that other guy is from Aerosmith ... Joe Perry is the one everyone remembers but Brad Whitford plays a lot of those 'great riffs and solos ' too ... so hey Brad this 's for you bud ...lol | |

No not ego, not putting myself in a class with anyone else, not a goof. I play, I play well, and I LOVE it!! That's what 32 years of constant wailin' will do for you- make your head swell up! Even with a swelled head I can smoke many styles. Improvisation is my forte.

| Favorite Guitar players Posted: 11/3/2005 11:40:06 PM | I thought I was pretty good until I saw someone play live on a Telecaster. The guy played so good I thought there was nothing left in music for me. I am not a fan of this guy, but he laid me to waste. A picker extroadinaire, Glen Campbell.
ps- I wish I could see/hear that again!!

| Favorite Guitar players Posted: 11/9/2005 11:30:54 AM | | I just recently found a man by the name of ROY BUCHANAN. He apparently put out about four albums in the early seventies but ended his career young after being arrested and taken to the drunk tank. In the morning the cops found him in his cell hanging from his own belt. It is still a big mystery as to why he killed himself. But his music, like with so many other tragic characters, lives on. | |
