Posted: 12/15/2007 10:15:28 AM | | I agree with all the reasons that people have said and yes,there are lots of men who don't have pics but who immediately want to send you one,then,they ask how you liked them...that's pretty rude and puts you on the spot...at least if they had a pic like the woman does,you have the choice of messaging them or whatever,and don't have to tell them anything...and if you say that you don't think you would be compatible,they get all defensive and say that no one has told them that before...these guys have problems and frankly,they are manipulators...and yes, usually married or butt ugly...and another thing that bugs me,..the pics that they do have are so small with so much extraneous stuff,you can't see them anyway,..maybe that's the idea....at least the younger guys like to strutt their stuff usually,and some bare all..lol....guys,you need to get with the program...or forget it...and another comment,some take really stupid pictures, and I don't know how they get them posted...like belly buttons, hairy chests,their dogs,scenery....how dumb is that?....and their ex wives???...stupid.. | |

Don't pre-judge a man just because he doesn't have a photo on his profile. You can't always tell how good looking someone is from their photo anyways. What about the people who use old, deceptive, and fake photos? I would rather meet a woman without a photo who gave a honest description of what she looks like over a woman who used her photo from 10 years ago, a woman who used a deceptive face shot to hide her fat body, or a woman who used a photo of another person. All of these things are fairly common on internet dating sites. | |

I have my mail settings set to "you must have a photo to contact this user." Unfortunately, the craftier ones have found a way around this.
Guys will either attach a photo of something that is not them (a sunset, a pet, etc.) OR they'll attach a photo, wait for the email to send and then delete the photo from POF (which results in my getting a blank square with a red "X"). Either way, it allows them to email others who require a photo. | |

You're absolutely right. We women should be more open minded to other possibilities. I'm sure the lack of a photo on a man's profile has nothing to do with deception. It's much better if we pre- judge a man (who has no photo posted) to be a bad photographer, too cheap to buy a digital camera or scanner, or too clueless to figure out how to use either.
All those bare torso shots are now making a lot more sense. They're not married, self-centered or manipulators. They're just .... photographically challenged. | |

If a bunch of men criticized women for not having pics on their profile and assumed that these women were fat, ugly or married, then these men would be called shallow. You can't have it both ways. A lot of men might not have a pic on their profile, but do send a real pic of themselves when they email a woman. Did you ever think about that possibility? Probably not. Like I said earlier, having a photo on a profile doesn't eliminate deception. There are plenty of people who use old, deceptive, or fake pictures. | |

A man that is married, ugly, and/or fat could easily use a old, deceptive or fake pic to hide his true identity. There are plenty of stories where a person looked much different during the initial meeting/date than he/she did on the picture posted on the profile. I know some men without pics on their profiles that aren't fat, ugly, or married. You would have no way of knowing that a man without a pic is fat, ugly, or married until you met him. Just like you would have no way of knowing that a pic on a man's profile is recent and accurate until you met him. | |
