Posted: 6/6/2006 11:07:32 AM | Did you have photos up before or are you trying to put your first ones up. This thread from the first post explains many of the problems that can occure. One of the biggest can be a file that is just to large for the site to accept. If that is the case there is also instructions on this thread (I don't recall them at the moment).
Take a bit to read through here and if you are still having problems post here again. We are all willing to assist. | |

Posted: 6/10/2006 6:09:20 PM | There is a lot of information already posted on this thread on how to get through a few different problems. Start with Post #1, but other then that what problems are you having.
When you upload does it load then at the end just stop with no picture? Do you upload and have the picture on for a few minutes then it is gone? Is it a jpeg, or different type of format? So many questions could relate to the problem that a little more information my help us help you.

Posted: 6/11/2006 8:58:45 AM | Some of the much older accounts are more then 8 pictures. We use to be allowed 16 pictures and if the person didn't take any of his pictures off his profile then they would stay.

Posted: 6/11/2006 10:23:08 PM | I have some questions about loading images into my profile. I have some pictures of some of my own original photography up in my profile. Some images were promptly loaded. Two pictures did load but then were mysteriously removed.
One picture showed some stain glass up close. The other one was a photo of cactuses which I took at our local botanical gardens. Were these photos considered inappropriate somehow?
By the way, the illustration I put up of Occam's Razor in my profile was taken from a site which permitted copying of the images freely to the public.
My photos didn't infringe on any copyrights and they aren't obscene. Can someone tell me why I had a problem uploading them?

If you were talking to me, that thread does not help. I already read that thread and everything I could find on possible reasons why my photos would be removed. When I had uploaded my 2 photos, which were later removed, I had a photo of myself as my main profile picture. I have other photos listed on my profile which are still there and don't show my face.

Posted: 6/12/2006 5:00:48 AM | The jist of the thread title that little lady placed above tells you what is not allowed as an acceptable profile picture.
As far as the other images on your profile still being there one day you may find that they will disappear as well. The newest uploads you are trying to put in your profile are being prescreened by your fellow POF users. As we have the option of accepting or rejecting your photo in the RATE NEW IMAGES section.
With perhaps millions of photographs on this site. Deleting unacceptabe photographs in profiles will take time.
One other thing to note is anyone can report your profile photos at anytime when they browse profiles, which I could do right now. However, since your photos are not anything EXTREME such as nudity etc. I am not inclined to send administration your profile for photo deletion as I know they are busy with more pressing matters.

That stills does not answer my question. Out of the whole list that you supplied of reasons why images can be reported, none of those reasons would apply to my photographs. If "other" simply means someone does not LIKE my photographs on a whim due to personal taste, that is the only way, that I can think of, which may cause a person to report them. I wonder if that would be enough for POF?
I have a regular profile about myself too.
Oh well, maybe it's simply one of the mysteries of the universe.

Any other questions that users have had re: the photos has been answered at some point in time in the thread. It just takes some time to read it. Its a dating site so photos of yourself is what you should be placing on your profile. As far as the other function it is easy enough to report and state why in the comments section (photos are not acceptable POF images).
Any photo that I run across on the RATE NEW PHOTOS that does not include a person with a FACE I will vote to delete it. So no cars, no trucks, no dogs, no cats, no gym equipment, no houses, no boats, no gardens, no trees, no shrubs, no swing sets, no copiers, no faxes, and the list goes on. I don't think that is the kind of date anyone is looking for.
So no...you have not found another mystery of the universe. Perhaps its just a misunderstanding of the content of the subject matter at hand.

Posted: 6/12/2006 8:25:19 AM | Poetica, I don’t think there is anything wrong with your images, I think there is someone here on POF that does not like you so they are giving you a hard time and making false reports, I could be wrong but it happened to me last week, I’m sure some guy wanted to talk about some subjects that you found disturbing to you and you did not want to go along with it so they got insulted and try to cause problems. It happened to me, some girl that was talking to me had an ex boyfriend that was jealous and was reporting my pictures to POF, all I did was did a drawing of myself as a cartoon and it got removed. Then I talked to sum girl and she told me the same thing happened to her. I could be wrong, but it could always be a mystery of the univers.

Posted: 6/12/2006 8:52:19 AM | Members are not allowed to report on users just because they are disgruntaled. You have to have value in your complaint or Bigfish won't even consider it. I understand on the rate any new image that the cartoon and nude can cause quick deletion but the delete at the top of the picture it takes 4 votes. As well as if you report a user it use to take 4 votes I am not sure how it goes now that you have to put a comment in.
All pictures on your profile have to be of you, not your cleavage (I know that is not what you had), not your back or bottom. Your beautiful face is what everyone wants to see. There have been a few deleted face, face/body pictures deleted because they looked like models, or movie stars. But that can be addressed to admin and he will look at your photos again (from my understanding).
There is nothing 'wrong' with your pictures except they breach the rules of the site. You have artistic photos, or cartoon drawings of yourself is nice, but not for this site. When a picture comes up for the new vote and it is a cartoon image of you, how would anyone know that is you without going to your profile to comparing other photos of you. That is not an option on the site so a cartoon is a cartoon.
If you have copyright of something, or even if it is a famous object that the copyright is not required, no matter. Think of how long it would take one owner of a site to have users prove that their picture is theirs'. Each one of us should mail the pictures to him with documentation? I couldn't even fathom how. Trust us on our word? We are strangers, do you trust strangers?
This being a public site it is nice to do as we wish. But having one owner make him possibly responsible for us breaking copyright rules. I wouldn't take that chance if I were the owner. I would say no pictures of anything but you with your face showing.
I don't mean to sound unkind but I am trying to give you as much information as needed for you to try to understand the 'why' of the rules on pictures. If I have errored a mod will show up on my post and correct anything that I errored on.

Posted: 6/13/2006 7:42:36 AM | The rate any new picture is requested to be used by memebers and if your (anyone's) face is not in the picture then the picture is against the rule. That is how it turns out. So a picture of someone's tattoo, unless their face is in the picture will/can be deleted.
I understand that many don't care for this rule but that is the rule. No one knows who made the choice, but I do understand that it takes four votes for delete before the picture is taken off. Just my understanding though. | |

Posted: 6/16/2006 12:02:10 AM | That's a very interesting theory that you have Scatterbrain...and it's quite possible that it's true. I have been posting alot and I'm sure not everyone agrees with my sense of humour...and that is aside from people who may be disgruntled with me for other reasons.
As for my pictures not being of my face, yes I could see that is a valid theory too.
However, there are literally zillions of photos of objects up in profiles, that have been on there for months, and those don't get removed...so I wonder if that is the case with me.
I don't think I will find out the reason for removal. It would be so simple if we simply received an email telling us the reason...but then again, I am sure the mods are already highly over-worked with maintaining this site as it is, and asking for these emails to go out, is just not feasible.
Well, that's my $0.02.
