| Grits Posted: 5/24/2008 2:30:07 PM | Years ago I spent time in Fayetteville NC and Columbus GA and was fed grits daily. A new experience for a Canadian! Now I find myself craving grits and cheese grits. I ordered some online (you can't get here in Calgary. Heck they don't even know what they are for the most part) So to get to the point. I've never cooked them before. Any help, like instructions or recipes would be much appreciated! | |

| Grits Posted: 6/25/2008 1:04:43 PM | Sugar.. Its easy to cook grits... if they are the old fashioned ones.. it takes a good thirty minutes to "pluck".. keep plenty of water in the pot... stirr constantly.... and dont have the pot too high a temperature... start out boilin the water.. add oh.. maybe a cup and a half of grits to three and a half cups of water... let it boil till it plucks and ploops.. then cut it down to a low simmer.... cover it, but constantly stir.. add lotsa butter too...Yummy! if ya have the flame too high, it will burn them.. so if it looks like the grits are too hard, or too thick, just add a little water along the way..... Its kinda an old fashioned way of cooking grits.. but its all in the "feel" of it.... add a slice of tomato on the side....... grilled shrimp.. or a slab of ham... and Golly! thats Godd Old Fashioned Country Eatin'. need further instructions.. just holler at me fer help Enjoy | |
