| London Get Together 22 October 2005 Posted: 10/22/2005 2:32:42 AM | If there are three of you together and you dont want to spend too much money have you thought about a hostel, because you would all get to share a room so would be safe..

| London Get Together 22 October 2005 Posted: 10/22/2005 3:50:11 AM | Please note I've given up with the guest list idea as there are way too many people to keep tabs on!!! Just ask the bar staff where the club part is which is hired for a private party and come and join us!
What I might do next time is invitation only, where I charge a very small fee, then I will be able to hire a couple of bouncers who can check the tickets on arrival etc.

| London Get Together 22 October 2005 Posted: 10/23/2005 2:53:55 AM | well, for me last night (22nd) was a complete waste of time. I didn't manage to get to London until 9:30, the directions to find the bar were a little too vague for me, plus printer didn't work so couldn't print off the map...I then *finally* found the bar (and no it's not that short a walk from picadilly circus), and the bouncers said they were charging £6 entry fee which I wasn't warned about. For me it wasn't worth it when I'd only be able to stay 20 mins max before I had to catch the last train back, so I left.
So not a great night for me, mostly my own fault, but for future parties maybe try and book a better known venue, or one that's a little easier to find. I don't mind paying to get in as long as I'm warned about it. As it happens I randomly got chatted up by some Belgian guy on Regent Street, but that was the highlight of my night.
Still, hope everyone else had a great night, and if there's another party organised, I'd be more than willing to try and go again, and maybe get myself a little better organised this time.

| London Get Together 22 October 2005 Posted: 10/23/2005 3:07:01 AM | I wasn't aware there was a door charge after 930 as they didn't tell me that when I booked it. I had never been to the place myself, unfortunately because of the amount of people that had signed up I had no choice but to find somewhere in London that would reserve a room for us so I couldn't be too choosy where it was.
As it happened only about 20 people showed up from POF anyway (cheers everyone ..... NOT), so I won't be organising another one in a hurry!! By 930 me and two other girls got fed up and moved on to a club in the Haymarket. You must have just missed us, otherwise you could have come along too!!

| London Get Together 22 October 2005 Posted: 10/23/2005 6:04:49 AM | That is really sad Candika.
I couldn't make it saturday because of previous committments so I didn't register. I can only imagine how you feel after all the efforts you made. All the more reason for charging a deposit next time ??
Don't give up. Perhaps we should arrange an elite meet at my place (limited places)
I'm sure many of us appreciate your efforts. Big Hug. Mike xx

| London Get Together 22 October 2005 Posted: 10/23/2005 6:47:15 AM | Maybe it was too early. But I only had the room booked for 3 hours before they opened it to the public. And besides, anyone genuine enough to want to come along, wouldn't mind the time would they? I just feel gutted for the people that did show up and can only apologise. It was originally going to be just a meet up in a pub because I didnt think we'd get that many people. But after it got to 200 I had to change the venue and was in a right panic.
The place was ideal, we had our own room and had everyone turned up on time there would have been no charge on the door plus there was room to dance and a DJ which apparently started later but I didnt hang around that long. Any place in London charges on the door after around 10pm ish. I wouldn't use it again tho, mainly because I would be too embarrassed because I told them probably 150 people would show up!!
Oh well we live and learn I guess..won't be in such a hurry to help out again in the future

| London Get Together 22 October 2005 Posted: 10/23/2005 6:55:27 AM | | I think we should have a whip round to compensate you for your efforts. I'll pledge a fiver to the Candika (chooses for herself) Entertainment Fund | |

| London Get Together 22 October 2005 Posted: 10/23/2005 7:02:15 AM | Doesn't stop the fund though you must have made loads of phone calls and done research etc
Give generously to the CEF!!!!

| London Get Together 22 October 2005 Posted: 10/23/2005 8:10:53 AM | | I was one of the two girls that turned up and quite honestly im disgusted at the amount of people that didnt show up. Ok some of my friends couldnt come for genuine reasons, illness, etc etc. That is totally understandable we all have times when things happen beyond our control, but the majority of people who said that they were going to turn up then didnt, as far as im concerned its just rudeness and bad manners. Candika, Liz and I had a great time in Tiger Tiger and I for one am glad i went, one to meet these two lovely ladies and two to give candika support. | |

| London Get Together 22 October 2005 Posted: 10/23/2005 10:17:32 AM | Hear Hear SK well said, I suppose the fact you went excuses you contributing to the CEF !! Looks like no-one else is either !! Think I'll have to come up and take you both to dinner | |

| London Get Together 22 October 2005 Posted: 10/23/2005 12:11:42 PM | i wondered whiy i didnt recognise any of the faces in the bar - I got there about 10 thanks to the cat so sounds like i missed out on you cos you moved on however i found the venue very easy to find, the instructions were pretty clear and using streetmap.co.uk it was easy to locate on a map.
Despite the fact that there was no-one i knew in there, the place had a good buzz, i suppose the hen party helped even the nimbers up, and the australian girls were very friendly!!
its a pity that so many players put there names down then didnt have the bottle to turn up. makes you wonder what there botle would be like for an actual date, laughable probably!!
Dont give up hun some of us are reliable.

| London Get Together 22 October 2005 Posted: 10/23/2005 3:00:38 PM | I got there about 9:15pm
I met quite a few people from POF.
But there was also a big group of people meeting there from French Connection.
I think it was a company do on at the same time.
Candika, are you saying you left at 9:30pm and never came back?
because a number of us saw you and your friends leave the table (as we were at the bar ordering our drinks) but just figured you`d all gone upstairs into the main bar and would be back down again ... then for the rest of the night there was a woman down in the dance floor that we thought was you (could be your look a like)
After 10pm the place got quite busy.
|
| London Get Together 22 October 2005 Posted: 10/23/2005 5:25:50 PM | | We left at 9.30 cos we were disappointed with the turn out, and also the fact the french connection guys came in it was hard to tell who was a fish or not lol | |
|
| London Get Together 22 October 2005 Posted: 10/24/2005 12:45:41 AM | Yeah must admit I was a bit confused, just got to the bar and got my first drink in and the DJ announced congraulations to sandra who was celebrating her hen night. thought i was in the wrong room till i spotted the one familiar face i knew.
. She headnt put her name on he list because she wasnt sure if the fella of POF she was chatting a lot with was gonna go - and i dont mean me lol
so at least 3 women turned up. = windsomg who fell at the last hurdle. still leaves a lot of unexplained gaps on both sides
|
| London Get Together 22 October 2005 Posted: 10/24/2005 9:07:57 AM | | Ick, I'm really sorry Candika and everyone else, I managed to catch the flu off someone and spent the friday and saturday in bed :( a real bummer cos it seems that I might have to cancel my trip to Florance on Thursday :( Would have loved to have met you all. | |
|
| London Get Together 22 October 2005 Posted: 10/25/2005 4:01:54 AM | | I got there at about 9:45. I'm really sorry for the lateness of my arrival, but 7:00 on a Saturday does seem a bit too early! I just avoided paying the £6 entry fee, so I'm not that annoyed. The music was great and the drinks weren't too expensive. Next time I promise to arrive promptly! | |
|
| London Get Together 22 October 2005 Posted: 10/25/2005 4:13:33 AM | i had my name down for the event but was unable to attend... i have left a apology & the reaosn in the "london do" forum
once again i apologise x
|
| London Get Together 22 October 2005 Posted: 10/30/2005 12:59:45 PM | By the sounds if it there might not be another POF event for a while??
I`m sure there might be a bunch of people looking to do stuff for Xmas or even Near Year`s Eve?
I`m meeting a bunch of friends after work on Tuesday night in the Pub above Baker Street Tube station, I think that`s a pretty good venue as it big and open and they don`t play loud music so you can have a conversation without shouting.
If anyone want to drop in for a drink they`re more then welcome.
