| What do you miss most about being a kid? Posted: 2/11/2006 2:23:10 PM | | I miss the feeling of, you had forever, when you were a kid a day seemed so long and you always thought you had so much time ahead of you and thenbam you are an adult and half the time it feels like there is not enough time in the day lol And the years just start to fly by. So I guess I miss my sense of immortality lol | |

| What do you miss most about being a kid? Posted: 3/23/2009 6:34:59 AM | Although I had a very rough childhood in many respects, there's still a lot of great memories too.
Amongst the things I love to revisit in my dreams:
The excitement of waking early on Christmas morning to find a stocking at the foot of my bed - Santa had arrived! - and then going downstairs and seeing the gifts neatly surrounding the tree. We didn't have a lot compared to some other families, but to me on that day, we were rich
Playing in the local woods with my dog
Lying on my back on a hot summer day, a long strand of timothy grass dangling from one corner of my mouth, and watching the clouds lazily drift across the sky
Making mud pies and setting them on old boards to bake in the sun. Of course this inevitably led to a severe scolding and/or punishment, as half the mud wound up on me, but I didn't care...I was having too much fun
Horseback riding! I only ever got to go maybe four or five times in total, but the thrill of knowing we were finally heading out to the country and would get to see (and actually ride) a horse was beyond exciting
Riding my bike and exploring new territory
Arriving home from school as a young girl and seeing my mom in the kitchen, her apron covered in flour and a cake or cookies baking in the oven. The aroma was so inticing, and had I known she wasn't going to be with us forever, I would have tried to capture the moment and preserved it. Then again, I guess that's what memories do...

| What do you miss most about being a kid? Posted: 3/23/2009 3:01:05 PM | | My dad, grandparents. Moving and only having to see where and not know the how, why, where or deal with the packing. But I would miss a lot about my present if I ever went back. But with that said. Grandma knocking on the window, and siblings and I wondering wether we were in trouble or if there was cookies waiting inside. :) Cookies ruled! | |

| What do you miss most about being a kid? Posted: 3/23/2009 4:52:44 PM | Many things people listed, the games, the toys, playing outside and making mud pies, running through sprinklers, singing and dancing for stuffed animals, kickball, riding bikes with no hands, Saturday morning cartoons, chasing the ice cream truck, etc.
What's the reason you can't still do them?
There are things that we miss from childhood that can't be replaced, family, pets, certain products, etc. But there's nothing written that we can't do some of the other things and recapture our sense of wonder. The only thing stopping us is ourselves.
Many if not most people came from a dysfunctional (in one way or another) family. But, we can make up for it now! One of my favorite bumper stickers is, "It's never too late to have a happy childhood."

| What do you miss most about being a kid? Posted: 3/25/2009 6:16:55 PM | I miss the cartoons. I did get to look at Doug & Hey Arnold earlier this morning.
I miss not having bills.
I grew up poor, so I miss the foodstamp bills & government cheese. We lived in a shack, so I miss laughing at my sisters and brothers whenever one of us would fall through a floor in our house. Experimenting with different foods because thats all we had in the house to eat. LOL
Its a whole lot of other things and I don't have the time to type it all. I love thinking back tho

| What do you miss most about being a kid? Posted: 3/25/2009 7:27:17 PM | | I miss the old days when on the fourth of July I had a whole collection of fireworks and I couldn't wait to blow them off. Rockets and cones and pin wheels and roman candles. Today you get caught with them and its a fine and taken away. The smell of gunpowder and those simple fire crackers and bottle rockets I do miss it. | |

I remember that it wouldn't melt when we made grilled cheese sandwiches.
I wonder what that stuff really was.
Probably some government program for getting rid of nuclear waste or something of that ilk.
