Posted: 9/28/2008 12:52:24 AM | so I had to come back to this..because I know how I come off as only being 1-sided..I'm a gemini..that isn't possible for me..
want to make it clear that I would marry a man of a different race in a heartbeat, if he were the right 1..I have respect for ppl from all over the world..& find other cultures fascinating..it's why I want to study history & theology..
I'm not prejudice against color...I'm pregidous against stupidity...& that comes in all colors...including American redneck..lol...
ppl just know what they experience, ya know...like the other day, I'm fixing to go in the post office & this Mexican guy is watching me...comes in behind me..ask me something..I don't understand...holds up his envelope for me to read, points to slots..
most ppls natural reaction is to step over & help, right?...but if you're a person who learns from experience, you have flashbacks..
of being at the dragway in Orange Co, LA...this mexican guy grabbing me & kissing me right on the lips...the guy I was with did nothing..(wish I could go back & re-do it)...flashback..few yrs ago, in a club...mex. guy grabs me, pulls me on his lap & tries to lick my face...I've got a much better right hook now...
anyhow, I step over, look at his letter..point to the right slot...tell him he doesn't need a stamp...
he didn't believe me...still went to the desk...I thought that was funny he didn't trust me for something so simple, after all that stuff had went through my head..
I also felt guilty last night at my fav Mex restaurant..where the ppl are so nice..
I just read this book.. dirty girls social club...by Alisa rodrigues...& she says something I liked...
I really stopped to think the other day about what's it's like to be an immigrant..with so much bashing going on, we forget how much courage it takes to leave your home, your language, your family & friends..& how much fear & desperation you'd have to face to begin with, to consider doing it..so difficult what others consider simple..going to the store, paying a bill, mailing a letter, ordering a drink.. | |

Posted: 10/16/2008 5:59:37 PM | Well lets see, I came to the States kicking and screaming when I was 7 years old. I knew two words of english; Yes & Right. Took me about 2 years to be able to communicate. The only class in school I had any trouble with was english. The rest I got straight A's why you ask because I learned all that stuff in kindergarten before I got here. Schools here are pitiful. How americans function is beyond me but they do.
So I even joined the US Army and served this country. I am a disabled verteran. Yet I still work as a civilian contractor for the US Army. I'm not even a US citizen. Would I vote if I was. Only when you actually have a decent candidate, Have seen many lately.
I would like to here a candidate say, If you elect me I will do what you ask me to do. Not what I think is best. I am going to represent you and your wishes. I know crazy concept. Some people call it democracy. I still like it.
I am not happy with people who live off the system without any significant contribution. Foreigners are not the only guilty party here in the good old US of A. Many americans do so as well. Now if a person is mentally or physically disabled. Then yeah ok help them out. But if they are just sittin on there ass. Have them do community service of some kind. Why should the criminals have all the fun.
Oh and criminals well lets put them in a tent city like they have in Maricopa County in AZ. That will get there attention right quickly.
If your not decended from Native Americans ie one of the Nations. Then you are a foreigner how many ever times removed. Just because you are born here by some stroke of luck or fate does not in any way make you a good citizen. It just gives you the opportunity to skip a lot of paperwork and dealing with the INS on the regular. Oddly enough europeans do not react the same way to foreigners they welcome them and provide more than you can imagine.
In so far as race goes, Well I am a member of the human race. It's the only one I know of at the moment. A persons Ethnicity or Nationality just sort of narrows down where they been and where they come from. It does not define there essence as a human being.
I could go on but it is pointless, Money makes the rules, your votes mean nothing. It's a little illusion they set up to calm the masses. Don't believe me? Look at your last medical bills, look at the gas pump, look at the cost of food and the economy in general. They only do things for us if the end result is a benefit for them. | |
